I'm young, but from what I've seen the kindest people have been some of the most instrumental in securing justice for others. Kindness doesn't make you a push over, it stops ignorance. May whoever reads this in earnest be peaceful, be happy and be loved, for I'm sure you are already.

Loving kindness for the Homeless guy in the street named Kohen, may he be happy, may he have the friends, wealth and health he needs, may he feel respected, may he sleep comfortably and may he meet favorable circumstances, may he know the ultimate happiness, that of enlightenment.

loving kindness; spirit causes human society to use less resources (and yet feel as if we are using more through spontaneously not wasting)... and to stop constructing more buildings but using the existing space more wisely. Spirit cleanses the civilization energy pathways and directs us towards pleasure in wholesome things also encouraging imagination. The beauty of nature is the inspiration of modern times

If you see photos of Sharon as a young woman, she was very attractive and slim. Somewhere along her journey, she put on the weight. It’s really nobody’s business. People comment on her weight on all her videos on RUclips. Do I need to remind people that the Buddha is often portrayed as a jolly, smiling man with a huge gut? Our bodies are not who we are. They age, breakdown and decay. Energy cannot die. And what we are talking about here is our energy, our mindfulness, our loving kindness. Sharon is no less of a teacher as an older women with weight on her than she was a young woman who was slim.

Aye, she's becoming more similar to Budai. Budai's girth was meant to represent abundance, but today it is more fit to represent contentment.

Loving kindness for the new authors in the United States of America, may the living qi of loving kindness guide the best writings of new authors (be they haiku, short story, prose or novel) into the eye of publishing entities who will help them reach a wider audience. Loving kindness for the wisdom. Gratitude for the Bookstores of the United States of America. Loving kindness for the USA Medias dedication to putting out books on all perspectives and philosophies and settings, unlike ancient times, we truly stand by the virtue of freedom of speech. Wisdom

I must confess, as a yogi who practices loving kindness meditation [LKM], I resisted listening to Ms. Salzberg because she is so obese. It seemed to me that a teacher of any spiritual discipline should take better care of their body, to set a good example. Then just today I remembered that Guru BKS Iyengar had quite a belly on him , and was highly respected despite his fat. How can I judge Sharon Salzberg for obesity when my own grand-teacher had a large paunch? Therefore I have ordered Ms. Salzberg's book on LKM. Nonetheless, Sri Guru Krishnamacharya's saying is true: a monk should be lean.

Our harsh criticism of others is a reflection of the criticism we put upon ourselves. Our bodies are just bodies -- who cares whether they are round or thin, fat or skinny?
There are reasons why we start with loving kindness meditation on ourselves.

John Boston Obesity is an illness-just like cancer. Also we have no idea why she has weight on her. Some gain tremendous amount of weight as a side effect taking necessary meds. Would you feel different about her physical state and her character, worth (learning from, listening to), quality etc. if you viewed her “disease name” as some other name (condition) that she has no power over? Her book on Lovingkindness is amazing. Hope the book you ordered will expand Lovingkindness to yourself and others as we all continue on this path of life. :)

I've fought a weight problem my whole life, and I kind of had the same reaction, I ashamed to say. After listening to many of her talks and meditations, I just let go of my judgement of her weight. Now if only I could let go of m y judgement about my OWN weight!

    • @XiaoGuanYin104

I have struggled with being overweight and it is caused by a medication I must take. When I was young I was slim and I loved that...I miss that. But if you look at her face, her eyes, her smile, you can see that her inner self is very beautiful and very loving. She is definitely not overweight out of any lack of character - so often when we discriminate against people who are "fat" we think that they "lack character" or are "slovenly or lazy". This is part of why we have prejudices about weight...also we learn it from significant others in our lives. I am glad that you shared your feelings, it opened up this discussion! Please do not blame yourself for this reaction; yet you will probably be happier if you address the underlying issues.

loving kindness, i allow you to read some revolutionary philosophical writing thats been sitting in my bag: "question all of it.. i cant be more serious about that. if you question it all though you will be free because ultimately it comes down to the choice is questioning just ensuring that choice will always be there?
everything about it the way I see myself, habits, and everything... What I've percieved to be reality and acted as if everyone else sees as well, even if the truth was that only I really experience it that way. The moral questions I have. I am immortal as a moral position. Why assume the universe to be inherently harmful? Could it be our belief in an idea like death is all that makes it truly real? Does suffering exist if we don't believe in it? If I say life doesn't have to end or drain us, I'm saying there is love in the world and theres hope beyond the trend of fate or what we've been taught is unwaivering truth about issues that each individual can never know about more than once in their life but outside anecdotes tell us is the same for everyone. What if thats all a rouse though? Life doesn't have to go down any of those avenues, theres places and things you can reach if you avoid that plotline and end up just taking it day to day seeing for yourself not planning according to the program of what society implies life is like 'for everyone'. Its the process of doing it one's own way, effected only by nature not by concepts that makes life refreshing and free."

Loving kindness, higher legal surveillance (by neutral non hospital affiliated lawyers) for doctors in hospital psych wards, to prevent abuse and protect rights of patients, also to encourage true empathy and listening to patients from a psychology perspective rather than only diagnosing generalized symptoms. Loving kindness, hospital psychiatric wards will help patients and respect them more; focusing less on medication and more on psychology, long empathy sessions, and sincere intention. Loving kindness, nurse and doctor staff will be multicultural and not all one ethnicity but purposely as diverse as possible, studies show being treated by people from all cultures has a great psychology effect on patients, while being treated by a group of predominantly one culture can cause more difficulty. Loving kindness, may no one suffer! Loving kindness for documentaries about hospital psych wards and their improvement, including a skeptical look at the focus on prescription drugs as treatment and more encouraging empathy and real therapy without drugs.
