Long live the Queen! The one and only Queen of the Sky! She is legend! The roaring engines, the power, the grace, sheer force, beautiful aircraft ever made! My absolute favorite aircraft. Never tire of seeing her take to the sky. Love her landing gear! Magificent!
Iconic. Timeless. Legendary. The 747 is all of these - and so much more....My absolute favorites are the 200 and SP series because the aesthetics are unrivaled and the P&W JT9Ds are unbeatable.....And of course my eternal appreciation for the time and effort that goes into bringing us aviation enthusiasts such great footage....We might not tell you, but trust me - we love you for it..... Cheers! ✈
Great comment! Indeed, the 747 SP's were great looking variants of the larger ones. As I remember, they were specifically built for PanAm and Iranian Airlines. PanAm wanted an aircraft with the capability of flying non-stop from JFK to Tokyo. Iranian Airlines wanted an aircraft t hat could fly non-stop from JFK to Teheran. Furthermore, I just read that the last 747 SP that was still flying has been retired. It was that one equipped with some sort of telescope designed to follow the sun and take photographs for research. As far as their engines were concerned, those new high ratio by-pass engines definitely got my attention whenever I was on the observation deck awaiting my flights. They had a high pitch type of "twang" that caused it to stand out from the other aircraft.
I love trains and trucks but planes are my favorite. Modern marvels man, I wonder how pleasant one must feel about themselves to pilot such a wonderful aircraft? One day...
Thank-you so very much for this compilation of 747’s. As you mentioned, they are unfortunately on their way out from passenger service. Thankfully, they do make for some great freighter aircraft. One thing is for sure, once all 747’s are out of passenger service, this video will be a great memorial to their phenomenal contribution to commercial air travel. My favorite scenes are those crosswind takeoffs from Schiphol’s runway 27-09. I could not help but notice the windsock was mostly fully inflated, which indicated crosswinds of 15 kts and greater. Yet those pilots lifted those giants up so gracefully. It was as if there was no crosswind at all. Something else I noticed was the cargo flights from Amsterdam to far east Asia (Tokyo, Korea, etc.) were non-stop. However, flights from the US to those same cities (with about the same time of flight) always make a refueling stop in either Anchorage or Fairbanks, Alaska, USA. The reason for this is to allow the aircraft to carry more cargo by taking on less fuel. It makes me wonder why flights east from Amsterdam do not have a refueling stop somewhere. Again, thank-you for the video. I also appreciate your detailed introduction narrative to the video. I am looking forward to your next post.
The Cathay Pacific Cargo 747, too nice rake off. Nice also with some big four-geared engined in wet👌 Great sounds🎧 and of course the spotting work with captures👍
Many don´t know that in the first years many predicted her doom due to insufficient seat demand. Came Freddie Laker with his ultra-cheap cross-Atlantic fares that filled summer flights. Once people realized the enjoyment of riding in the royal confort of Her Majestic Lady, she earned her keep and much, much more. She earned a permanent place in aviation lore and in our loving hearts.
Thank you for such variety--and for the excellent footnoting! The Cargolux ITALIA at 1:59 was good to see. It's a surprising thing to say but it's now rare to see surviving examples of the Queen running the great looking and growling Royce RB-211 turbofans (originally developed for Lockheed's neat L1011). Even rarer at about 7:00, is that beautiful Geosky 747-236B(SF) shown with earlier version RB-211s, used on -200s and -SPs. This is an ex-BA passenger aircraft--I flew on several examples of these back in the day between Australia and the U.K. Interesting at 13:01 a KLM Freighter lands with an inoperative thrust reverser on Engine 4. Another novelty, at 13:35 a Silkway Freighter boasts its RB-211s...
Absolutely beautifully filming captured lovely footage compilation, appreciate your time and effort for sharing an incredible excellent great job and you nailed it again, keep rocking my friend, Merci from Canada 🇨🇦
I thought these birds got retired. Looks like there are still quite a few flying around. Mainly cargo, though. I'm grateful to have gotten to fly on them a couple of times when I was a kid on Pan Am and maybe another airline I don't remember . . .
Parabéns ao autor desse vídeo. Finalmente alguém que teve a sensibilidade de repassar para nos a emoção real de ouvir esses gigantes chegando ou partindo. Sensacional. Muito Show.
Buenos videos gracias me gusta ver despegar y aterrizar los aviones ESPECIALMENTE el A380 xk kiero algún día subirme en uno de ellos saludos desde HONDURAS
A new way to save on air liner fuel ! Have a toe vehicular toe the plane to the start of the runway or toe it to the terminal from the end of the landing it’s got to be cheaper ! Than running the big engine !
Aviation fans, better fly on one whilr you can. The "airlines" want you on a TWO engined a/c so they're doing all they can to eliminate 4 engined a/c like 747s, A340s and A380s..
The 747-400 and the 747-8, with exception of the 777-300ER are the most beautiful airliners in the world. Beauty and just absolute power.
That's how it got the nickname Queen of the Skies

Concorde for me
I agree Tim, for me though the 757 is just so good looking, even with its gear down it still looks proper nice. 🖖
