Who are Kara and Nate?!

Originally from Nashville, Tennessee, we got married 2013 and were super “normal.” I was a teacher and Nate started a small printing business from the spare bedroom of our apartment.
We discovered the world of “travel hacking” while planning our honeymoon & became addicted ;)
So after 2 years of obsessively saving $35k and over 2 million miles and points, we sold our cars and apartment and left home January 10, 2016 for a “one year” trip around the world.
Our goal was to see as many places as possible before we ran out of money and went back home to “normal life.” We started this channel to share our experiences with friends and family, but quickly fell in love with living on the road and found a new passion for capturing our travels through video. So we did everything we could to keep going.
4 years later, we achieved our new goal of visiting 100 countries and all 7 continents. We had no plans to slow down, until 2020 forced us to ;) Which is when we bought a converted van to start exploring our own country for the first time!
After ~2 years of van life, we are back to full time international traveling! And now we are finding the best adventures the world has to offer :)
We are incredibly grateful to be able to continue doing something we love every day. 😊🎥🌎 Thank you to everyone who has been a part of our journey!

Please please put one of the vans behind the bike with the hazard lights on, so much safer and making others aware there is a bike ahead. Also the RAAM route might not be the best route as it is planned as the quickest rather than safest and more scenery.... I've done a bit of long distance cycling, so hopefully a little bit of experience. Best of luck.

Lol it doesnt work that way I feel. They use their strengths. Nate's is fixing, organizing..and Kara's i are calming, physically able to jang, ensure proper nutrition. Now seeing Nate do Kara's end hilariois.
When they say “the dads” I think it too cute and brings me back to the other biking trip and when. Frankie and evie were so little.

Climbing on a tandem has to be the hardest thing! Everyone imagines it should be easier, but it plain is not. Balancing different strengths, power, cadence preferences, rest cycles etc, not to mention the sheer effort involved for the pilot to keep it straight and balanced. Respect.

My aunt and uncle road a tandem bike from Anacortes, WA to Maine. The people they met, adventures they had and the stories they tell are amazing! They were in their 60’s! You’ve got this!
I love that all of you just do it…no matter what the adventure is you all just hit it head on! And kiddos to Rick and his family for doing this as well. Those children are getting to enjoy things that most people only dream of. As a retired teacher - I must say this is the best form of education you can teach those kids! Book learning is all good and fine but day to day life requires so much more than you can learn from any book. Experiencing these type of adventures will prepare them for real life! Looking forward to the rest of the trip! Isn't Annapolis, MD on Chesapeake Bay? I thought the Atlantic Ocean was a bit farther east.
Annapolis is, in fact, on the Chesapeake. To dip the bike in the Atlantic they'll need a couple hundred more miles to Ocean City, MD or similar.
I LOVE when they do stuff here in America with Van Life. Seriously since covid, they are showing me that there so much beauty here in our own backyard ❤️
Kara can enjoy 1st class luxury and then kill a bug with her hand sleeping in a bed of sand in a van. You guys never cease to amaze me! Can’t wait for part 2! ❤

You won't find the Atlantic Ocean in Annapolis, but you'll find the Severn River, which eventually "connects" to the Atlantic (but, then, so does the Pacific). If you have it in you, continue on to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. You won't be disappointed! Best of luck to all of you!!

Small correction, Annapolis would be the Chesapeake Bay. You should go through Delaware to get to the Atlantic.

If Nate and Kara Biking Across the U.S. were a professionally produced reality series, they could not have cast more a more ideal collection of personalities! From the enthusiastic yet nurturing ladies to the imaginative kids, to the sensitive but wanting-to-keep-in-touch-with-their-macho men, they are all very relatable. How do they decide who sits at the front? At the back? And when did they start? Will they be crossing the Rockies during blinding snowstorms? What if the Atlantic is icy and frigid when they get there?
I think Rick being the most experienced cyclist is in the front since he has to balance the three

My first Coast-to-coast bicycle trip started in Oceanside, CA and then ended in Rehoboth Beach, DE.
The route you are taking is a bit similar to the route we took.
It's so cool watching these biking videos because we get to see these sweet friendships continue but we also get to see Frankie and Evie grow up!
