Wholesome, sad but also life affirming and awesome, Frieren hype! This is such a great show. Love it! This also features the same composer as Violet Evergarden, Evan Call. And the show has some similar emotional vibes to Violet too (for me)
I put off watching this anime from its debut thinking it was going to be too chill, cozy, boring...finally gave it a go a few days ago and boy was it I wrong. While it it is cozy and chill, the world and characters feel so alive, I binged 13 episodes in one night and only stopped cause I had to sleep....then the next day caught up to episode 16.

I've never seen a show that captures the concept of mortality so well. The sadness of loved ones passing away and the joy of young ones coming up and learning about the world. This is really a special show
The attention to detail in every aspect of this show is astounding, from the animation to the character dialog and everything in-between. Very quickly becoming one of my top ten anime of all time.
I also found the way Heiter and Himmel aged a bit weird. Ofcause Heiter being a priest might play into that, aswell as Himmel living close to the evil aura of the dragon's horn. But actually it tracks with real life aswell. Himmel must be in his late 70s or 80s. People look like that at that age. But some people live for 120 years, so another 40 years after that. It's only natural that people who reach way over 100 years don't look like Himmel in their 80s. My grandmother's aunt died at 97 two years ago and my grandmother herself is 83 right now. I couldn't tell who looks older now, if I didn't know and until a few months before she died, my great great aunt was even healthier than my grandma. Your aging is determined by you genes and tampered by your lifestyle. Still Himmel looking 20 years older than Heiter at this point feels weird, especially when it was the other way 50 years ago, which was only one minute for us 😅.
A friend of mine is a fan of the manga and he told me that to better understand the age of an elves in this series is to think 100 years equates to 1 year as an elf.
I started watching Frieren without knowing anything about it, but now it easily rose to my top animes. The story doesn't have that very grand fight scenes, and some might also say that it's boring. But what made me stick to it is, how, even after his death, Himmel stayed in Frieren's heart, and is always reminded of all the times they spent together. It is sad, it is love, it is nostalgic, and somehow, in some way, makes you relate to the story. As you go watch the next episodes, you'll soon realize the significance of Himmel in Frieren's life.
Frieren Journey is like... After you get one piece and then your new grand journey start over with new crew 💯.. Now watching again... Whole same as f 💯💯❤️❤️

Fun fact : Frieren VA is Anya (spyxfamily) VA. Both really have total opposite characteristics, what an amazing vocal range of hers
