For the younger generation enjoy your childhood, don't rush on growing up quickly because you only get one childhood in your life, but when you do get older it doesn't mean your life is over... you can still have your dreams even as you get older
Beautiful, well said. Childhood may end but our hopes and dreams still live on. As long as we hold on to these precious memories, then the adventure will never be truly over.
I'm almost 34 years old and I can't listen to this song without crying my eyes out. A real masterpiece that hits direct in your souls heart. RIP Wada Kouji and thanks for The Best childhood song
Same here. The moment when they have to part way with their digimon and go back to their own world was one of the saddest moment in my childhood life too.
I cried when I was a child as I know that this is the ending song of the last episode. Even though now I'm 31 year old man, this version still touch me and brings back all my childhood memories. Greetings from Indonesia.
its so weird, i always ALWAYS break my voice and cry whenever i sing along on the chorus parts. ALWAYS. I dont fucking understand why. This song has made me tear up so many times whenever it plays on shuffle randomly, wherever i may be, on public places even. It's so powerful. Rest in peace kouji wada, and thank you for making our childhoods brighter.
Our parents held up lighters to their favorite songs. Our generation holds up their phone. But I proudly hold up my Digivice to this song. Be happy with who you Digivolved into and be the best version of you that you can.
Lemme see... • Never had the original Digivice, but later in adulthood, I did get the Bandai Asia "Digivice 2" (it's basically the crappy neutered screen of the Bandai America release but with the version 2 add-ins such as Tailmon/Gatomon, Vamdemon/Myotismon, and the entire Dark Masters arc peeps); this is the only surviving Digivice I currently have...😑 • Had both the original and Digimon the Movie (original Digivice colored) D3s; my yellow Armadillomon one stopped working, gave my green Patamon one to my girlfriend at the time to replace her water-damaged blue Veemon one, and lost my orange Movie themed one. Also lost my D-Terminal, but was able to get a Bandai Asia version (that had a slightly updated character directory with 300 peeps compared to the original US version's 240 or 250)... • Only ever had the green Terriermon D-Power...Bandai America finally gives full screens only to ruin the gameplay. Eventually sold it for a few bucks. • D-Tector v1, Takuya's colors. That got wrecked in a basement flood back in 2007. • I never bothered with the Data Link Digivice (heard it was nerfed badly from/compared to the Digivice iC), and I definitely passed on the Fusion Loader (that hunk of junk was literally a completely different toy from both the Bandai Japan Xros Loader and literally every other Bandai America version Digivice that came before it). Aaaaaand that's it, I think the Fusion Loader was the last thing that Bandai America released until the goofy "Vital Hero" version of the Vital Bracelet from I think Ghost Game (yup, they skipped the Appliarizers entirely).

Sadly I didn’t get exposure to Digimon until the early 2010s. This song however was my first Japanese song I had ever listened to and I am extremely grateful for that as I couldn’t have ever stumbled onto a better song

the way butterfly is made and sung gets everyone and will make anyone feel nostalgic even if they didn't grow up with it. genuinely one of the most beautiful pieces of music I've heard all of the versions and i dont even know what the singer is saying.
Yeah. I grew up in the 90s. I had no choice but to watch the dub. Dubbed anime is my preference now, but back then, it was all we had - watch it when it aired on TV dubbed or not at all. But I did listen to Butterfly on RUclips in 2005. I downloaded it and played it on my MP3 Player along with Brave Heart and some other Japanese Digimon songs. So although I grew up with Digimon Are The Champions, I still listened to Butterfly early in my childhood and these songs still invoke nostalgia in me.
Yes! I was born in 1997 and really only watched Digimon the movie over and over until I *totally legally* watched Digimon Adventure and 02 online. And Tamers. And a good chunk of Frontier and Data Squad/Savers. I watched first when I was 11. And I learned of this song later. I love it.

I absolutely agree. I believe this is the exact message the producers want us to take from this absolutely beautiful movie. I cried the like a little baby towards the end because the movie just resonated with me so much and my tears just started showing uncontrollably.
I mean you probably grew up with the original digimon as well, so saying goodbye to them now is kinda like saying goodbye to someone you knew for a long time

End my 2022 with Digimon Adventure. I watched digimon during primary school at my friend's house because she had pc. Now I'm 24 y/o and got my own laptop and internet. Marathon it from the first series till their last movie at the end of the year since it's holiday. Hurting my kokoro with their last movie 30 mins before 2022 ends. Thank you for all the good memories. Agumon is calling Taichi always be my fav dialogue. "Taichi"
I can't listen to this without crying anymore. I grew up with Digimon's english dub as a kid but I watched the sub version later on (Currently watching through Digimon Adventure in subbed). But everytime I listen to Butterfly it reminds me of being a kid and loving Digimon. Blue skies and Agumon and joy. Nothing like the bleakness of adulthood. Just pure innocence and fun. Koji Wada's voice heals my soul and reminds me that everything is gonna be alright. Rest in peace Koji Wada-san.
I grew up watching digimon until Frontier, I stopped watching series and anime for some years... then, during my young adulthood years I watched again the four seasons (with the Latin American Spanish dub) and couldn't avoid crying in the final episode of the first season when the original Japanese version played, since then this song brings me a bit of nostalgia but also good memories of my childhood (I'm 28 years old).

I always get chills when I hear this opening and my eyes just get watery….. a little piece of childhood just patted me in the back letting me know it’ll be alright
I'm Vincent from malaysia i've been watching this digimon at 90s and i'm already 31 years old in 2023 still remember still love this song and those all digimon story , but this version Butterfly its makes me cry , thank you so much for this creators Digimon i always love and remember it when i'm old 😢
I grew up on the dub and though I love the song for nostalgic reasons, and it was easy to remember as a kid, the Butterfly song just hits different. Mind you I never heard it until I was older (like in my 20s) but when I did it hit me in the feels as if I heard it all along. Not going to lie I teared up the first time I heard it and now I listen to it often. Something about it just makes you feels nostalgic.
Chills and tears come at the beginning of this iconic opening, it’s too powerful!!
I'm 36 now, but I still believed I was a Digidestined just by being able to follow the story of Takeru/Agumon and the others. Thank you for making my/our childhood awesome...❤😢
This anime has touched my heart since I was a child and I'm not from the 90's, I was born in 2006 and yet every time I hear this song it fills my heart and fills me with memories of the best childhood
It has as much to do with saying good bye to them as you subconsciously recognizing that you're no longer a child. You've outgrown your old clothes, you no longer enjoy the same shows or books, and even if you didn't want to you no longer have the same friends. There is so much subliminal mesaging about having to accept that you're now an adult.
When the Final movie relates you in real life. Dang! Thank you for the memories :) I know we are all grown ups but I always love this childhood anime. 💙❤️ Agumon and Gabumon gonna miss you.
One of the best anime OPs ever made. Unfortunately, when this was aired in my country Malaysia, we didn't have the channel that have the show (NTV7), and that was where all the awesome shows were (no offense to RTM TV2 and TV3 what they had at the time were also part of my childhood). I only ever watched the first two episodes, because I have a DVD of them, as well as what few episodes I get to watch when visiting my cousins or people who have NTV7 in their house.
i am 38. At the beggining of the digimon adventure 3, at that photo frame. I really cried. i felt like i saw my childhood friends that i don't see 20-30years. And it is not just about sentiments. i think it is a really good song with a great melody. This is one of the songs on my "timeless songs" list. And from my Country another timeless song here. From Tarkan. Name : Uyan ( Wake Up. ) Wake up, put up your hand on your heart, before it's too late. Don't say that this road has a hill at its end ( It's an idiom in our language. it means this is very difficult, impossible. Or you can say "this road has no end." ) We can overcome these mountains if you believe. Our Home, our Homeland, our LAND/SOİL is disappearing forever. ( In Turkish traditions, soil is everything. Your home, your homeland, the place you came from (What your mother eats comes from the soil) and the place you will go. (When you die, the place where you will be buried is again soil.) Anything is possible if you believe. ruclips.net/video/WNNYhEKG4AE/видео.html In short, "Wake Up" is a song about environmental pollution and erosion. A Wake Up Call.

When the entire world starts to crumble away under some apocalyptic catastrophe, this better start playing.
Our childhood we all cherished dearly is long gone but the warm memories will remain forever 🥺
This song brings some memories of my childhood 😭😭😭😭😭😭🥺
Chills and tears come at the beginning of this iconic opening, it’s too powerful!!
Thanx, Koji Wada, you made my childhood a bit better despite on hell around. You will be forever in my heart
I was born in 2007 and I love this song too. When I first listened to the Tri Version, I felt so emotional because I listened to the Cast Version😢
The moment Agumon and Gabumin disappeared was the saddest moment of the movie
Yeah
you mean saddest moment in my life rather than my birth. lmao
I think every Digimon fan cried the fucking eyes out
It has as much to do with saying good bye to them as you subconsciously recognizing that you're no longer a child. You've outgrown your old clothes, you no longer enjoy the same shows or books, and even if you didn't want to you no longer have the same friends. There is so much subliminal mesaging about having to accept that you're now an adult.
What makes it sadder is that it was meant to symbolize growing up. Digimon was their childhood, Now they are adults
Im 33 yo now and still listening to this masterpiece:')
listening this song while doing chores and getting scared on 4:35 anyway splendid one! Love Digimon for over 20 years
When the Final movie relates you in real life.
I can't bring myself to watch this movie or to listen to this, because i know i will cry like I've never cried before
I'm not crying, you are! 😭😭 Now I feel old
I still remember when 7 young kids went to camp for a summer…
Cried rivers when season 1 finished... I'm 30 now and im still crying to this song, Kizuna was painfully beautiful ❤
30 años y sigo llorando al escucharla.
Name : Uyan ( Wake Up. )
Wake up, put up your hand on your heart, before it's too late.
Don't say that this road has a hill at its end ( It's an idiom in our language. it means this is very difficult, impossible. Or you can say "this road has no end." )
We can overcome these mountains if you believe.
Our Home, our Homeland, our LAND/SOİL is disappearing forever. ( In Turkish traditions, soil is everything. Your home, your homeland, the place you came from (What your mother eats comes from the soil) and the place you will go. (When you die, the place where you will be buried is again soil.)
Anything is possible if you believe.

In short, "Wake Up" is a song about environmental pollution and erosion. A Wake Up Call.
Times flies so fast. 27 years old this year. I dunno what feelin that i hav right now. 1995 🙋🏻♂️ 🥺🥺😭😭
I will come back every year and listen this sound❤
I’m 27 this hit so hard that it breaks my wall of suppressed nostalgia
