1)'Never forget where you came from.'

@@d3ltaking419 It means you should learn when to speak and when to listen. If you listen you may discover new information in general, but if you only talk, you give information to others about you , which might be a bad idea in some cases.

    • @bin579

@@d3ltaking419 means.. your energy, colours, who you hang out with, where you eat, what you do etc.. talk loudly about you (80% of communication is none-verbal) -and they can either hide you and be your saving grace.. or reveal alot about you to the wrong people (ie you are left weak).
Frank - Denzel kept a low profile life.. chilled out cars.. non assuming dressing, ate at his usual hot dog joints, did normal things like walk the dog, lived with his mum, had a chilled out country house, went to to the market, went to church and didnt make a fuss about sitting infront like the VIPS etc.. thats why for the longest time.. over 12 yrs.. he evaded arrest - because while the feds were looking for a flashy guy.. he looked like the messenger so they doubted for the longest he was the head of the entire outfit.
meanwhile his brothers, and other drug guys..constantly stood out for shake-downs etc because they were dressed loudly, talked loudly, flashed slick cars.. name dropping etc, they let that money/ life change them..and they were immediate targets..as was Frank the day he put that mink coat his wife had got him.. and sat at the very VIP of seats at the boxing match. And he realised it too late, immediately.. that one moment- cost him everything.
For me American Gangster is the most businessy of mobster movies..there so many business lessons from it- maybe all the more reason it remain understated. - Rule no.3 for instance you see with the many understated millionaires next door.. even unflashy public billionaires..

If you speak with your parents in the right way and honor them - they will reveal the psychology behind their choices and maybe some familial history that will be beneficial to you. Respectful two cents.

Mobsters, aside from the illegal aspects knows how to get the job done in very creative and effective ways. There is LOTS to learn from traditional Mafia, real life stories and movies. OMERTA, (SHUT YOUR MOUTH) is what keeps you in business and don't be flashy in anything you do and you'll survive. Keep these mob related vids going. Jay-Z would be as well. I remember him once saying in an interview with Vanity Fair magazine that he learned about budgeting and business skills from his past when he was dealing drugs.
You can actually apply a lot of business lessons from Gangsters, Gangstas, Mobsters, Mafioso, Wiseguys,Drug-Dealers, Gangbangers, ''Gs'' and whatever else one wants to call them. What`s unfortunate is, if you look at many of the biggest criminal masterminds of all time, be it Al Capone or Pablo Escobar or one of the biggest drug kingpins in U.S. history, a man who once reigned in terror over the Baisley Park Housing Projects in Queens, New York and who would drive through the neighborhood with his cronies openly brandishing automatic weapons and who led the drug-dealing criminal organization known as ''The Supreme Team'' like Kenneth ''Supreme'' McGriff''(who is now doing life in prison for ordering the murder of New York rapper Eric ''E-Money Bags'' Smith'' , among other things and who was associated with 50 Cent`s rivals, Murder Inc Records and who is also believed to have ordered the 2000 hit on 50 Cent, not to mention that the characters Nino Brown and Majestic in the films, New Jack City and Get Rich Or Die Trying, were reportedly based on him) or a great many others, many of them easily could have used their knowledge and skills to do something more productive and positive with their lives and to be successful in legitimate and legal businesses.
But there are absolutely valuable lessons to be learned from people who made the wrong choices in life. These 25 business lessons are indeed informative ones. I`ll have to start taking notes from these episodes with Patrick Bet-David.

The only difference is that Mobsters and Gangsters constantly live in fear, they need to watch out not only for the police, but also for their enemies. They may have money, but they can't just casually go out on a family vacation to Venice, or Hawaii
While Entrepreneurs can freely enjoy their wealth with their family without having to worry about their life 24/7, granted everyone has dangers around them, but at least Entrepreneurs can sleep in peace knowing they don't have the entire freaking mafia hunting them down all the time

"So much depends on reputation - Guard it with your life" -Robert Greene
Well reputation is more important in the mafia than in business. With good enough reputation to earn other's respect is a necessity. If you have a respectable reputation you're not a person to mess with specially if you're not messing with others that has a great reputation as well. It is better if you're a good asset which means that no one needs to spend their resource to harm you in any way, but rather win you over as an asset. (Though with being a great asset and they can't win you over, they might get rid of you so others can't take advantage of you as well. That's up to you to get out of that.) With good enough reputation you don't have to fear others in the mafia without messing it up yourself. Though of couse I hundred percent agree with your comment as the only difference is that in business if you messed up, you can get back up. On the other hand if you messed up in the mafia, that's probably the last time you could mess anything up.

@Yemi Idk, I watch them both pretty regularly. They have 2 different styles that I can appreciate. Joe is the more laid back, let's have a conversation and see where it goes. And this produces some great conversations. PBD has very much a business structure to his interviews, which I can also appreciate and value. He asks really good questions that produce really informative answers. Both have had interesting guests on. As far as popularity goes, Joe is more famous but as far as value goes, I see them as more equal. But this is just one mans opinion 🤷‍♂️
