Phase Shift sticker lets you hit ghosts, each AP Starter gives you one AP (stacking) at the start of a fight, 10 AP moves tend to be super powerful, and a ~40 level difference means the ghosts never stood a chance.

*when the game has a creepypasta literally built into the game* I swear this is one of the best games I've ever seen, and it keeps getting better..!! This is amazing!
Of the hundreds of times that I've run into that shadow, I had zero idea that you could battle it, much less, that it drops that awesome tape! I'm glad that your video was recommended to me! ❤
The first time I saw the black shuck it attacked me and I happened to have a tape with the ability to hit ghosts so I beat it and got the tape. Had no idea how lucky I was until I checked the wiki today.
I shit you not, the first time I fought one it was the first time I ever saw one (at least that I noticed it) it was when I was first about to encounter zed and I hadn't seen it any other time so I just assumed this was a part of the story or something. Needless to say, I was very paranoid whenever I saw one of those after that. It felt like a fever dream 😂
Literally the first black shuck I’ve ran into was the encounter! I had almost no way to hit it so I had to resort to using ionised air on my opponent, then myself, and then attacking myself with electric moves to do damage. Creativity pays off!
@@reapertheabsol0359 If you're doing a nuzlocke you can keep on the team someone able to hit Ghost and/or to remove Ghostly status. That was the last resort to win the fight without being prepared.

I've seen this thing twice in the overworld so far but it hasn't battled me. I've got a Bootleg Astral Southpaw w/ Phase Shift and I've been contemplating replacing my old Southpaw with it so I can hit ghosts and potentially fight Black Shuck when it ever decides to battle me.
I saw this multiple times, but I didn’t realize that it had a 1% chance of engaging combat, let alone their tape having an auto astral convert on top of the guaranteed recording
I’ve played this game religiously since launch and haven’t figured out that you can battle the merchants husk. Also if anyone knows how to open the chest on Mt Wirral please tell me. I’ve tried everything I can come up with. It’s the chest just under the cliff that Captain Codey stands on.
I think the 1% chance check happens when you get within a certain distance of Black Shuck (though I have not confirmed this). It's probably about the distance at which the chase/reaction mini-cutscene happens at 00:28. You can try save scumming and see if that works. I'm not fully sure if it will work, but it's definitely worth a try. If you get it to work, let me know!
hey man could you please tell me the stickers you have on the triphinx please? it looks op and i need something really strong that doesn’t kill on turn 0 lmao
I think Black Shuck's level is determined at least in part by the location you encounter it (and maybe the player's level?). Unfortunately it is not possible to capture any enemies in the Black Shuck fight.
It should be able to happen on Switch. Finding Black Shuck in the overworld can be somewhat rare (mainly due to the fact that it does not have a map icon).
Does the shuck show up on the map as an unidentified signal? I only stumbled into one once but it just disappeared.... P.S. what if you used the black shuck's tape on a nowhere Pesant? (Also, thank you for making videos like these! The need more attention ❤)
Black Shuck does not have any icon on the map that shows where it is. You have to just wander around and hope you find it. (Though I made a PC mod that adds a map icon for it so you can see where it spawned) That's a great question! I tested out using the Black Shuck Tape on Nowhere Peasant and it not only successfully captures Nowhere Peasant, but also turns it into an Astral bootleg (same sprite, but different typing). See this short for a recording of it: ruclips.net/user/shortsw0YLEh-faHo I'm glad you like the videos!
Oh... I don't download mods unless it's from the steam workshop; do you know if cassette beasts will have steam workshop open for them? Oh sweet, That adds more uniqueness/costumisablity to the critter! I'll be waiting for the next upload! ^v^

Black Shuck appears randomly throughout New Wirral. The particular area I encountered it in this video is Cherry Meadow. Though there is nothing special about that area in regards to Black Shuck, it can appear in lots of different locations.
Yeah, that's how I interpret it as well. Unfortunately finding and battling Black Shuck is even rarer than finding an astral Traffikrab using a Ritual Candle...
I mean, if you ritual and recycle traffikrab, you gona see an astral one sooner or later. Plus traffickrab is extremely easy to record since its low level and spawn plentiful in the beginning area for you to recycle away.

How do you manage to damage a ghost type monster though?
You either need a skill that lets you damage ghosts, or you can use the skill New Leaf to remove their ghost status.
@@zombehnashun which skills damage ghosts? Sorry for the question lol
You could also damage them with poison, burn, or leech
@@littlelavilion9795 It's the passive skill Phase Shift. It allows the monster that has this effect to damage ghosts with any moves it knows.
You can also damage them if they hit you while you have contact damage, though that's pretty unreliable
Was it really necessary to give it a 1% chance? It's already rare and hard to fight (at low levels) per se, such a low chance is almost an insult.
