Spot on review! This is definitely one of those “Great Movies You Never Want to See Again” (Requiem for A Dream is a good example of this). But it’s an important movie in that it highlights a part of history I had no idea existed.
This movie was superb. Often hard to watch but stunning, too. I went from thinking 'poor Agnes' to 'Agnes is detestable'. The actress did a magnificent job- the whole cast was excellent, really. I don't know if I'd rewatch it either. It's funny, as The VVitch is also based on historical fact and I've rewatched it a few times but this one I guess is way, way too visceral. Maybe one day.
One of the saddest movies I’ve ever watched, but I was glad I watched it. I don’t think I’ve ever felt so sorry for a protagonist, ever. Not sure I’ll watch it again, even though I think it’s masterfully written and played.
Finally got around to watching this last night and I have to agree with your opinions. Brilliant cinematography, acting, and story, but incredibly depressing (which is of course the point). It reminded me a lot of Hagazussa, if you've seen that (it's even set in the same place, just a few centuries earlier). Hagazussa is also incredibly upsetting and bleak but I enjoyed it more than this (I think because, in my opinion, the cinematography was even better, and it was a tad shorter [I think The Devil's Bath could have benefited from just a little editing here and there]).
House of the devil is the only good movie with the devils name attached to the title, ill give this a try. Have u watched Handeling the undead yet???? Curious. ???

yh, many countries don't know much about this era as it's mainly specific to european countries so only these countries really learn about it.

Is that as i lay dying in the intro? I'm probably wrong but that riff sound so familiar 😅. Love the channel my brother
Nah. It’s actually one of the songs in RUclips’s library. Called Thor’s Hammer.
Thanks!
This movie was so good! Two thumbs up! It’s dark and bleak, but there are moments of humor too. Outstanding performance by the lead who plays Agnes.
Thank You for the Review and Video 😀
New fan. Love your reviews

It affected me as deeply as Robert Egger's The VVitch

Had to dig deep to get through the boredom. I don’t know if I’m glad I did.

Not without warnings, it`s pretty traumatic.
