    I don’t care what anyone says, I know there are white cream doughnuts in heaven. And they don’t have calories.

    I love listening to Jimmy Akin, but I'm going to have to push back a little about baptism of the Holy Spirit. Jesus said water and spirit. I am going through a very long waiting period to be baptized into the Catholic church. I was never baptized as a child my parents were protestants. I have had several encounters with the Holy Spirit this past year, which have lead me to a deep faith that the Catholic church is the fullness of truth. It began with the Holy Spirit speaking through my 2 year old after my first fervent prayer. She had recently been diagnosed as a type 1 diabetic and we had been struggling to manage it because of how difficult 2 year olds can be in general. I repented of my many past sins,and begged God to help me. That same day she spoke full sentences that guided me in completely changing how everything was happening. I knew it was God answering my prayer I began dedicating myself to God that night. After about a month of dedication and God blessing me with answering prayer I had an experience with what can only be described as baptism of the Holy Spirit. I was washed in the blood of the lamb and cleansed I was given a heart of flesh and have been changed into a new person by this baptism. I know that it is not typically how it happens and believe that most people receive both at the same time but I know that baptism by the Holy Spirit is a real thing.

      May your faith continue to grow through the graces bestowed by the Holy Spirit. I think it sounds like you're describing what Catholics call "cooperating with the grace the Holy Spirit bestows." We don't need to quibble over terms, but if anyone questions your use of the term "baptism of the Holy Spirit," you can explain that something stirred in you to accept the invitation to cooperate with grace, and that it was from the Holy Spirit. You could explain that your role was very little, because we can't do anything without grace. Catholics question the term "baptism in the Holy Spirit" traditionally because that term was used to dissuade people from presenting themselves and their children from the Sacrament of Baptism, so that's why you'll get pushback and maybe regarded with some suspiciousness in _some_ Catholic parishes. In my own home parish, the religious education director wouldn't question your intention or beliefs, she would just assume that you mean you're cooperating with the grace of the Holy Spirit. But in other parishes where there are a lot of non-Catholics who don't believe that baptism is necessary to enter heaven, and that baptism is just a ceremony to show that you accept Jesus Christ, it's possible that the director of religious education might ask you questions to clarify whether you believe the Sacrament of Baptism is necessary or just theater. I hope this helps clear up some of the misunderstandings. Welcome home 🙏🏻✝️

      @@kimfleury Oh I need to be baptized. I believe that one cannot be fully baptized until we receive both water and spirit. The baptism of water is what puts the seal of Christ onto us. It is definitely not just theater or symbolic. I feel that I understand what St Paul ment by one not naturally born because of the experience I have had. I believe that he was baptized by the Spirit on the road to Damascus and didn't himself feel fully born to his new life until he received the baptism of water. I am extremely duressed because of how hard it is to come fully into the church and receive the sacraments. I know to the very core of my soul that the sacraments were given to us to seal us to Christ and allow us to draw close to Christ, and bring our souls back into alignment with the will of God when we stray through sin. I feel like I need to be baptized the way a man stranded in the desert for weeks feels like he needs a glass of water.

      The use of the word "baptism" here is problematic, as Jimmy said, because it suggests the Protestant perspective of the term which is separated from the sacrament and its necessity.

    • @Live-and-Move
      @Live-and-Move 3 месяца назад

      @@renjithjoseph7135 Respectfully I disagree. I literally heard a loud external voice say "you have been washed in the blood of the lamb". I was literally changed, things that I used to do no longer hold any interest for me and my life has become a devotion to God. I was literally baptized in the Spirit. It doesn't mean I do not also need water baptism to complete my baptism. Jesus said in John 1:33 water and spirit. Just because protestants have twisted the meaning of things doesn't change what is really happening. We are baptized both with water and by the Spirit.

    Before all these techno things that stole our arts, crafts, and mental and physical fitness, people played games, told/enacted stories, and made music and danced! Every family had some people who could play musical instruments and everyone else would sing and dance. Now, we just let Skynet hypnotize us into mindless, ailing lumps. :/

    Are we talking about the same thing? If so it’s very simple and clearly outlined by the (old easy to read). Catechism.
    Baptism of the Holy Spirit = starts in Acts 2.1. This is when Jesus. In the Catholic Church, you first get baptized by water (sacrament of baptism) and then baptized in the Holy Spirit (Sacrament of Confirmation)

    I assume if our resurrected bodies physically resemble our current ones, we will have stomachs. I don't think St Paul means there won't be food in heaven, but the stomach is destroyed when the body decomposes so he could be making a sort of "ashes to ashes" statement. So he could be trying to say food is not the ultimate purpose of our existence.

    Did Jimmy misspeak or did I misunderstand when he said "There is not a separate spirit baptism in the new testament? " It is easy to do on a live, radio. I am not pushing the "baptism in the spirit" issue - but there is a biblical reference: Matthew 3:11 “I baptize you with water for repentance. But after me comes one who is more powerful than I, whose sandals I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you with the Holy Spirit and fire."

    Is there any reason to suppose that non Christians have guardian angles? Jesus said that "these little ones" have angels, that means Christians.

    • @NTNG13
      @NTNG13 3 месяца назад +3

      It doesn't mean that really. The non christians would be the ones most in need of guardian angels in lieu of their ignorance of the Gospel.

    I have a couple of conditions that make me HIGHLY sensitive to noise, so I pay about $15.00 per month for ad-free RUclips in order to avoid the alarming, heartbeat slamming, headache producing chemical reaction I get when the flow of conversation switches to COMMERCIALS. The cadence, the volume, the urgency, all communnicate an emergency that does not exist. This could even be interpreted as an inherently dishonest mode of communication, which adds to my distress. On the other hand, I am a fan and want you to be supported...just not at the expense of my nerves. All I can think to do in future, with you and others, is to avoid your videos and buy one of your books when i have the money. To non-disabled people, my problem may seem rare, but it isnt. Lots of folks suffer through these commercial torments.
