Yes, a resource for people to go to to help answer their questions is a good idea, but please leave out the eye-rolling and criticism of getting asked a question that may stop a shy person from bothering to get help and share in the gifts of the knowledge that you have to give. Personally i think having a resource like youre talking about is an excellent idea. I have the same exact experience and ive only been catholic a couple of years. My situation is much different of course, im in the thick of it. In my county there is only 1 catholic church and outside of the people at my parish, ive never met a catholic. The place i live is extremely religious, extremely protestant, and most of my friends and family are either pastors, Sunday school teachers, lay speakers, and theology nerds. So im constantly being questioned and challenged by just about everyone i know. It makes me crazy defensive but if i had a youtube resource i could use besides digging through full episodes of catholic answers for hours on a specific topic, it would be so great. Thanks for all you do Jimmy! You were the first catholic i ever spoke to and would love to find that episode for my friends but sadly i cant. I wont lie, i was tempted to call you and ask the same question i asked back then so i could have a reference to that answer. I realized it would only be for my convenience and so i never did.
I find the discussion of St. Michael as the Angelic Prince of Israel really interesting. It fits nicely with the idea that St. Michael is the steward of Heaven, God's possessions are his (Israel, Heaven, the Church), but He trusts Michael to preside over them and see his Will carried out.
Yeah, but it is sort of contradicted by the quote that said each of the sons of God is in charge of his own nation but Israel is God's own. I kind of wonder how metaphorical that quote is, though. What happens to the guardianship when the number of nations changes, like when an empire absorbs a bunch of them or when a nation splits in two due to civil war? Thanks for doing this episode, Dom and Jimmy. Too often I hear well-meaning teachers and even priests teach involved lessons on angels as though it is factual Church teaching. One sermon I heard claimed that priests get two guardian angels. It wouldn't annoy me so much except that once a week religious education lessons are not sufficient to cover all the basics of Church teaching without padding out the time going into detail on subjects we actually know very little about (and honestly don't need to know as long as we can trust God to give us what we need).
So many times when I hear the remark, "Your guardian angel must have been watching over you" made to someone who escaped an accident, for example, then I wonder, well, what about the people who are in accidents? "Did they not say the Guardian Angel Prayer" we were taught to recite every morning 😄? Their guardian angels were not paying attention or not up to the job this time? Some people believe that another guardian angel is given to a priest once ordained. If that is true then I would assume it to the same for when someone becomes a bishop, patriarch, or pope - or even at baptism and confirmation. But at the very least I am confident that we have at least one special angel we are entrusted to from the beginning of life until death. I also think that other people's guardian angels can help us and ours them - because everyone who is pleasing to God are His friends and therefore we are all brothers in one way or another.

I don’t understand how “ the angel of the Lord” could be interpreted as meaning it was the Lord Himself. Was it not the custom in ancient times to treat the messenger of a noble as one would treat the nobleman himself, i.e. as if one was speaking to the master rather than to the servant? Don’t we see this in the case of the centurion in the gospels, who in one gospel is represented as asking Jesus personally for his son’s healing, and in another gospel as having sent a servant to ask for the healing? Isn’t this why we have an expression like “Don’t shoot the messenger”! Why would people ever in history have harmed a mere messenger for bringing a message? Because he was a stand-in for the high-ranking person he worked for. I think it’s more likely that in the many passages where people speaking as if the angel of the Lord was God Himself, it really was an angel. Isn’t it possible that “of the Lord” was added to emphasize that the messenger was from God, and not from a king or just any old human messenger?

Im a little confused on what a guardian angle does. If they take my prayers to God, does that mean prayer is not direct conversation with God? If they guide me to make good decisions, then what is the role of a conscience? If they fight spiritual battles, then why do I still need to battle temptations? They help accompany our prayers. Read about Daniel's prayer. They help us to pray by making suggestions, thwarting distractions, etc. They help us fight evil spirits, but they don't do everything for us.

I am an avid listener but found this episode very disappointing. The beginning came off as very snarky and took all the fun out of what you were going to explain. If I was checking this out from a different show and curious about guardian angels, I wouldn't keep listening. I wanted to send this episode to a non-Christian friend who believes in guardian angels, but won't because the intro just isn't inviting.
I’m a subscriber and my husband & I eagerly await each new episode and listen in the car on our Saturday rides. This one was not pleasant at all. If that is true then I would assume it to the same for when someone becomes a bishop, patriarch, or pope - or even at baptism and confirmation. But at the very least I am confident that we have at least one special angel we are entrusted to from the beginning of life until death.
I also think that other people's guardian angels can help us and ours them - because everyone who is pleasing to God are His friends and therefore we are all brothers in one way or another.

I don’t understand how “ the angel of the Lord” could be interpreted as meaning it was the Lord Himself. Was it not the custom in ancient times to treat the messenger of a noble as one would treat the nobleman himself, i.e. as if one was speaking to the master rather than to the servant? Don’t we see this in the case of the centurion in the gospels, who in one gospel is represented as asking Jesus personally for his son’s healing, and in another gospel as having sent a servant to ask for the healing? Isn’t this why we have an expression like “Don’t shoot the messenger”! Why would people ever in history have harmed a mere messenger for bringing a message? Because he was a stand-in for the high-ranking person he worked for.
I think it’s more likely that in the many passages where people speaking as if the angel of the Lord was God Himself, it really was an angel. Isn’t it possible that “of the Lord” was added to emphasize that the messenger was from God, and not from a king or just any old human messenger?
The ancient rabbis thought there was a Binity in God.

People seek answers based on where they are at. They usually ask the questions so they can improve in some way. The people who are self designated teachers need to meet them where they are at. Not sure frustration should enter into it. If people stopped asking questions, whether repetitive or not, there would be no need for anyone who answers them.

Im a little confused on what a guardian angle does. If they take my prayers to God, does that mean prayer is not direct conversation with God? If they guide me to make good decisions, then what is the role of a conscience? If they fight spiritual battles, then why do I still need to battle temptations? Perhaps they work in the spiritual realm enact the decisions I make?
They help accompany our prayers. Read about Daniel's prayer. They help us to pray by making suggestions, thwarting distractions, etc. They help us fight evil spirits, but they don't do everything for us.

I am an avid listener but found this episode very disappointing. The beginning came off as very snarky and took all the fun out of what you were going to explain. If I was checking this out from a different show and curious about guardian angels, I wouldn't keep listening. I wanted to send this episode to a non-Christian friend who believes in guardian angels, but won't because the intro just isn't inviting.

We’ve never had questions regarding angels - that’s not our thing, but it saddens us that you are so arrogant and cruel towards those who do ask about angels and guardian angels. They don’t know you’ve been asked so often. They don’t know it makes you so angry that now you have to go to these extremes so that you never have to talk about it again.
