Thank you, Anthony, for your teachings. I have been fascinated by the Alexander Technique for several years, but never really understood it until I watched your videos. This one is my favorite because you explain the purpose so clearly - especially the psychological aspects - and your pupil is obviously immediately affected. Thank you for sharing your expertise!
This Alexander stuff is pretty interesting. I work an office job and my posture is getting pretty bad; this seems like a good alternative to chiro-'quackery'. Thanks for posting more Anthony!
It depends on the location and the experience of the Teacher. pm me at the Alexander Studio and I can let you know what the options are with us in London
MagnumDB I was taught AT when I was at a British drama school for acting. From what I understand, it was initially created when Alexander was looking to improve his physical awareness when he was performing (maybe singing?). In the US, actors tend more towards method acting, which often doesn’t really involve a whole lot of physical training. However, British actors tend towards a more physical based style, and so AT is much more in demand. But there are practitioners in the US. They’re harder to find. I’m not at all a professional, so take this with a grain of salt. But including acting in your google search might yield wider results.
Here in Germany you can book Alexander Technique lessons in many cities (like Feldenkrais, it's also a movement education) but I guess many poeple don't know what it is (I've known AT for years because I dealed with a good posture and movement due to acting and I had similar movement lessons at drama school). Wikipedia says in the UK AT is getting part of regular schools so this is maybe the reason that it's much more common there.
@Maddy Grayson Actually, Alexander was Australian! He was born on Tasmania. He moved to London in his mid thirties, in 1904. He also worked in the USA for a while, but mainly in London.

Why are most (maybe all?) Alexander videos with English people? Is this practiced anywhere else?

There are loads of videos by American teachers! And there are of course teachers in Australia. And Europe mainland.
