Unintentional asmr works so much better. I hate fake whispering and or when people repeatedly make tapping noises or crinkle noises. It only works for me when it occurs naturally. Unintentional ASMR is so pure. The classic VHS recording with wired mics. The light talking through each step of their posture program. The light movement of hands on different pieces and textures of clothing. It’s absolutely perfect. It’s so much more than about relieving pain though. Athletes (especially runners), musicians, dancers, and more can benefit significantly from the good posture, balance, and “freeness” that you learn from it. It can improve performance by relaxing the body and making the body move in a more natural way. Your breathing capacity improves for musicians, your body is free of unnecessary tension so your running form improves, etc. A lot of serious people use the Alexander Technique.

I turned 16 in 1989. Although I grew up in the United States, this video certainly takes me back to that time. Our small-town fashions were similar, like the jeans and sweaters. Also, some of the older people I knew were from the same generation as the teachers in the video, and they had the same vibe. This session reminds me of some of the church youth group activities I attended back then: the clean-cut young people and the spiritual atmosphere.

I took several classes in Alexander Technique when I was in drama school, and it is not at all as mysterious and cultish as it might appear here. It’s really just about developing good posture, and learning to keep the head, neck, back and hips in proper alignment. It is perfectly harmless, and I found parts of it quite helpful.
@@blip1 I completely agree with you. But you’d be surprised at how many people see it that way. Particularly when they see random videos like this on RUclips, and they are completely ignorant as to what they are watching or it’s purpose.
I did Alexander technique for a few months when I was younger, as I was developing back problems from bad posture and stress, and it honestly made a huge difference for me physically. I 'grew' 2 inches in the space of a few months just by my spine decompressing and my posture straightening out (I was already fully grown before that), my gait completely changed (my knees were weak and inward turned before) and my back pain cleared up. I'm out of practice with the techniques now, but I can still call on them to do a 'quick fix' when I find myself unbalanced and slouching, and sometimes get back into regularly practicing the exercises if I start to get back pain. At least in my experience there was no 'woo' involved in the therapy, it was simply a skilled physical therapist teaching you to be aware of how different parts of your body are involved when standing, sitting, lying down, and moving, and teaching exercises and visualisations which help you bring all parts of your body into alignment (e.g. standing with your feet at the right distance and angle, how to balance your weight as you bend, how to move in an efficient way which uses the natural effect of momentum rather than your muscles trying to compensate. Physical touch is only used to indicate specifically which area they want you to adjust, to help you to focus on specific muscles you might not be used to accessing, and in the early stages to help move you into the correct position manually so you know what it should feel like. I'm sure the gentle physical touch can be therapeutic for some people in a more emotional sense, but that's not really the point of the therapy. However therapeutic touch along with the relaxation aspects of the therapy, and the focus on slowing down and paying attention to your body may well have a side-effect of helping with emotional stress - and that might have been a factor causing bad posture in the first place - so it's a win-win!

Best asmr I love Alexander based stuff and after 29999999 hours of Diana and this channel I’m now very much more aware of the head, neck and back relationship and letting the neck be free. I’ll probably book a lesson one day. Thanks 🙏
Strangely enough I clicked on this and found it vaguely familiar until I realised that they had taught the technique to aspiring actors at Ivy House, part of Middlesex Polytechnic in the 1980s. Having never heard of AT when I enrolled it was quite mesmerising to have them teach you. They had wonderful posture, perfect diction and a deeply relaxing presence. It was a two-year diploma course and had previously been part of the New College Speech and Drama, whose most famous pupil was Helen Mirren.

The lady in the black jumper, she’s up the end of the table when they’re standing around it.
Oh really?! That's cool to see her back in the day :))
31:13?
Whale oil beef hooked
I keep feeling sad watching this. Peoples lives. Most probably the trainers have all passed away and who know what happened to the rest of the people who were so happy in the video. Yet also in 1989 i was at school and a whole half lifetime has passed. 😢
You took the words right out of my mouth. It's all very bittersweet and I cant help but wonder what became of all the young people in this video? Where are they now? Did they have a good life? Did they take away anything positive and long-lasting from these experiences?
So much relief, everything will pass away... The wisdom of impermanence
Every time i watch this, i feel my body relax, with the occasional cracking sound. My soul had a massage.
Dig deep inside yourself...feel the sweaters weight . Be the cheap sweater. .. feel the sweaters bland color energy throughout your body.
Wow 1 million views. I never get bored of this video
Then let that neck come back.😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂 neck, that’s boiled at home😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
unintentional ASMR is so good on this one, i absolutely love it
I think the Alexander Technique is more about getting smooth, softly spoken hands-on personal attention than anything else.
It's not about sitting or standing really..
I'm not so sure - I'm an Alexander convert and a sucker for ASMR to boot, but watch the videos of Patrick McDonald doing the technique. It's almost violent but seems to work.
No.
My God, how are any of them still awake after the first 3 minutes 😴
Looool
😽
The pregnant woman is probably younger in this video than I am now (age 34) but her baby is currently the same age as me! I wish there was a 'where are they now' for the pupils In this video!
'Where are their jumpers now?'
Hello Gita! Im Diana!
quite quickly.
Crossover episodes are the best
You all are my people for sure. I think we need t shirts so we can identify each other in the wild.
Tara Finlay love this idea 😂
Just in your way.
Not only educational, but also relaxing.
they are so lucky to experience this
I thoroughly enjoyed this , from beginning , middle to end . Yes !
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@AlexanderTechnique33Thank you and good morning
He has an amazing voice. He would have made a great doctor.
Little did they know this was going to be a famous video for asmr and not alexander techniques
I just want to hear this guy say something like “the master has retired to his chambers”
Both are not of this earth anymore unfortunately
I want him as my butler!!
ROFL
Ooh Rocky
This lady’s baby would be like 31 now? That’s mad. I’m kind of fascinated about this group. What brought them here? What were the group dynamics? How long did they attend? Looking back now would they say it was worth the time? I’m sure they would. I’m just nosy. Best asmr I love Alexander based stuff and after 29999999 hours of Diana and this channel I’m now very much more aware of the head, neck and back relationship and letting the neck be free. I’ll probably book a lesson one day. Thanks 🙏
I love this comment 🤓
That's cool thinking
Strangely enough I clicked on this and found it vaguely familiar until I realised that they had taught the technique to aspiring actors at Ivy House, part of Middlesex Polytechnic in the 1980s. Having never heard of AT when I enrolled it was quite mesmerising to have them teach you. They had wonderful posture, perfect diction and a deeply relaxing presence. It was a two-year diploma course and had previously been part of the New College Speech and Drama, whose most famous pupil was Helen Mirren.
Im sure a few in class saw this on RUclips. It would be great to hear from them.
A beautiful comment. They must all be in their 50s and 60s now. I wonder if they sit as straight as the lady.
Peace and contentment. These are the gifts of Landrew.
The way he turns at 6:20 always gives me a good chuckle
watch out for that right snap kick! 😄
@@BWater-yq3jx yeah your head would to a 360💀
Reminds me of Bill Nighy.
His neck did not look free.
He's the real life monty burns
I've seen this so many times but tbh I haven't watched the entire video, only the first 13 minutes.
Dave’s eyes are blinking Morse Code: “The hands tell me to wear blue socks.”
We did something like this in the martial arts. There was a tremendous emphasis on stance and posture.
j adore cette vidéo la tranquillité dans la voie me détend , une vidéo de 1989 une bonne années je ne suis pas pratiquant mais j admire la technique Alexander découver par hasard j essayerais bien un jour !!! .
This video is wonderful and I continue to watch it nightly. The Walkers were a beautiful Couple.
I love how, when the pregnant lady gets up off the floor, she's so graceful that she makes it look easy.
Then there's me, who would have sounded like a haunted pirate ship...
Lol
Hilarious
It is impressive!
Love this, but part of me thought the guy was going turn to camera, yell "BOY" in a gruff voice and throw a silver orb at my head.
well there goes my relaxation. I’m laughing too hard now...and about to go look up Phantasm, haven’t watched ol’ Reg in a long time lmao
@@Emdooey If you are locked in your room, remember you can tape a tack and a shotgun shell to a hammer and blow the lock (I lost it when I first saw that part).
Omfg. I haven't heard anyone talk about that film in years. I can't focus on relaxation now lol
Dave do as you're told
FREE THE DAMNED NECK, DAVE!:)
I had exactly the same jumper as Dave back in the late 1980s
Richard was a gentleman.
Amazing attunement he engages in with each person
5:12 - "I find your lack of free neck...disturbing."
I would feel so daft standing at the table like that 🤣😳 but oh so blissful to watch and listen 👂...great ASMR More for me with Elizabeth.
Legend has it ...No neck has ever felt quite this free......
I was in the army over a year by the time this video was recorded.
Errr thanks?
@@Participant616 When I see dates in video titles I just think about what I was doing and what part of life I was in at that time. It's a memory tool and I do it a lot. =-}
I wish he could read stories to me at bedtime.
Teaching to be present and aware of oneself at every step and movement.
I really love all these ASMR insiders jokes. Brilliant!
No they're not, they are just attention seeking dicks. They mostly get it wrong too, e.g., "free the neck" none of these dicks have listened to that properly and how she finishes the sentence.
@@PB-mo1fs allow the attitude to be free
Brilliant. Lovely.
Much of the value of a training session like this is less kinesiological and more pschological, owing to the gentle personal attention.
Good posture has been well studied for thousands of years.
j adore cette vidéo elle me détend ! . merci
I’m so lost. Have no idea how I got to this! 🤔
The algorithm knew what you needed...
Richard gave me a great adjustment just last week! He’s aged slightly over the years, but his technique has only improved! Best adjustment I’ve had so far in 2022. 👍
He’s still kickin’? That’s awesome

What the hell do you get writing a comment like this? Do you just lie and smile, waiting for the replies? Get a life. If you lie and manipulate this easily, I'd hate to know you IRL.
Lindsay teaches singers this technique today. She has a few videos on here
Thierry Augustine. The link is below 😎
what is the link to her videos? Thank you
The cameraman started following instructions at 7:45
Lmao
Their hand position while sitting is interesting.
Dammit, his posture is incredible.
This isn’t a scam this man is trying to show people how to have a good posture like sitting up and down effortlessly and it’s less strain on the body and can really help people
We all know that, but most of us are here for another reason.
Richie Rich I’m explaining to all the people that think this is a cult\scam that’s all I’m here for asmr lol
