ABOUT SELF
Daily health, fitness, beauty, style advice, and videos for people who want to achieve their personal best in life.
its been a year since I filmed this. I just wanted to say there is so much hope for healing npd. I am in such a better place now and understand so much deeper I didn't think it was possible. I was at my unhealthiest here in every way, mentally, physically, probably karma honestly because I was not genuinely committed to healing yet. I was objectifying my own disorder hoping it would get me famous and the relationship depicted here was beyond bad behind the scenes. I still struggle with this disorder daily but there is so much potential for managing it. i've wanted this video deleted so many times because I dislike the angles they used and was so unhappy with my presentation here but so many people have reached out and told me they were inspired by this video. I am learning to let go and practice acceptance and ignore external judgments I cant control.
so much of npd is fragmentation, terror of humiliation and shame based on external judgment and also, a very undeveloped core self. we live in a world where people speak their opinion like its fact and forget everything is subjective and we listen to others way too much when they can be bitter jealous or simply have different preferences. i'm taking my power back slowly. npds are struggling with lacking a core self almost entirely, since childhood. in order to heal we have to develop one
I believe I have the same problem. Thanks for doing this video. It really helps to know I'm not alone and neither are you.
Regardless of whether you didn't like your video, You certainly educated many others like me. I had only ever read what it was like for people experiencing having a NPD partner or relative. It was extremely interesting to see what it's like for a person with NPD living daily. You have my upmost respect and I wish you the best in your life journey. Love and light to you ❤
I've screenshotted this so that I don't forget it. Thank you Tess, you're amazing ❤❤❤
@spiritnarc Hi, I'm just coming to terms with my NPD (I've been diagnosed with BPD dor several years now but due to my lack of commitment, grandiosity but at the same time inferiority complex only seek therapy when I'm having existential crisis, which happen around every 3-4 months or so. Anyway, I TOTALLY identify with not having a self core, what has helped you the most in constructing one for yourself? (I know this question is extremely loaded) But maybe just a few tips or habits that have helped you in your journey 🙏🏻
I've been told NPD is incurable and that people should run away. I finally figured out that no one in my family can give me perspective because they've been told I'm not capable of change.
Most of us who've experienced this personality type have been scarred for life. The family so desperately wants the person with NPD to change, but no amount of love and support does that. They just continue in the destructive cycle and drag you along if you let them I have several family members with NPD, at least this young lady is self aware. My family members are not.
There's always an adaptive way, and a maladaptive way, and I'm glad we're getting to see people with cluster-B PDs really making pro-social choices for themselves and their own lives - because it IS possible. Past generations and their choices, their aversion to therapy, their harmful ways of coping, shouldn't be the only thing we consider when we view other human beings.
It seems like most individuals know narcissism to show up or be displayed in one way. I hope this video offers a new perspective and understanding.
(Edit: I hope individuals come to understand the difference between narcissism as a personality trait vs. narcissistic personality disorder)
Narcissistic disorder is a spectrum like autism for example, there are as many narcissistic profiles than narcisstic people. To be more positive about this disorder I always say that it is a rainbow with an infinity of color corresponding to the infinity of people living with it because even if they suffer and aren't fully adapted to society narcissistic people are still human and amazing people. I'm with one of them since 9 years and his smile is my whole world 😊
@@kleineoOoStern Your comment is so cute and made my day. I always hate when people just villainize a mental disorder/illness so it's so nice to hear some positivity and even hearing that you live with one who makes you happy and you make them happy!
Lots of love
So proud of you for doing this Tess ❤️ So proud that you're giving real kindness to yourself now too. I struggle with that as well and you're an inspiration, keep taking care of yourself and keep killing it ❤️
Grandiosity as a defense against dependency. Affirmations won't help. The ability to focus on others and restate what they said. Which means you learn to really listen. It won't be easy. Said by a psychologist.
❤I seen her on TikTok I actually follow her ! This helps so many of us especially parents who have children who struggle ,with mental illness especially NPD BPD ADHD ODD ect.. so many need to show others and educate themselves ,and others as well ❤❤
There is such a strong negative stigma! ❤❤❤❤!
PERIODT. I hope to see more people being open minded!
I think something that would probably really help someone like her is to do things for others. Maybe volunteering and helping give food to those in need, and spending less time obsessing over her own features and spend more time with others. Just a thought!
See, we’re not into that.
Meditation help to make us bearable to others
are u a therapist?
ok.
k bud
😧
Tessas and Jacobs friendship warms my heart
With NPD, you’ll never cure it, but you can manage how you think about other people and manage your behavior to lessen the hurt you cause other people.
It’s a stressful disorder to live with and be around. Lots of apologies we never get and all because we aren’t understood.
Doesn't metacognition help you explain it to others?
Most part of the torture we experience around NPDs has been cuz of lack of explanations and lots of defense mechanisms in my case.
it's definitely on a spectrum and it's sad that they're all clumped in one and made out to be evil. I myself have been hurt by npd that I even have devloped bpd but some of them are really trying the best they can to be better.
❤loved this
Thank you so much for this.
There are others who aren't aware of what it is even though they know something's wrong.
really relate to that "fragments of the self"
You guys look such nice people
But the test is when you marry and have kids .
They are the ones who deal with abuse.
If you guys are working on been better is amazing to me . Aware of your situation is key to control it and not been out there hurting others .
My soon to be ex he is almost 50 and wow I see only evil !
I know he cheated on me and put dumb face and denied to death .
I truly believe that the mental state gets worse and worse by age.
One of my kids is a narc.
Is sad I ask him if can do counseling he said for what ?
thank you
Tess ❤❤ you got this, we love you
So many therapists and self proclaim narc-turned-guru makes so many wrong claims about npd, 2 of them are😢 that npd-s are not capable of loving and npd should be applied no-contact rule at all cost.
So many so called victims/therapists slash experts think they know everything about npd and make so many wrong claims as well
btw npd shows up in many different ways. this is just one example of npd and what this individuals symptoms are like. its varies alot
I can relate in many ways. I haver bpd with strong npd traits and Jacob and Tessa are one of the internet creators where I can truly relate and I dont have that often that I can relate to people mostly only with fictional characters
Spoiler I got diagnosed with comorbid npd a few months after I made that comment. Was it surprising to anyone? No
As someone with NPD , do you have empathy ?
“I’m more than my diagnosis” yeah no kidding. You are a human
You may think this comment is stupid but if you actually see how people with mental illness or disorders are treated you will know how empowering that is.
@@unknowns78Nope, not all personality disorders... only those 3: narcissists, psychopaths and sometimes the borderliners. People with those PD's are a threat to people and society.
@@sascha2634 As someone with borderline personality disorder, I am no threat to society. We are not manipulative, apathetic aliens. In fact, many of us are the total opposite.
This was very Interesting. As Myself I get easy bored, lack interest in other people's interest I focus on my own interest first. I don't feel like engaging in other people's problems ore their ideas. I just don't care. It's interesting to see how other people view you but I have self awareness atlest worked on it. I can feel high on emotions a few days ore weeks than other days feel very little emotions, and the empathy part is strange I care for close family but rest I really don't care. I don't know if this is narcissism ore sociopathy. I do have ADHD.
This .akes it seem like being diagnosed as a narc is as simple as saying you think a lot about yourself. But everyone does that so Im confused.
Wait why so hskf these tgingd apply to md
Me too
The love part 😂
She'd make a great actress. Might as well do with something with it
Raghad Meziane, my brother, happy blessed Ramadan 👍👍👍🇲🇦🇺🇲🇨🇷
Tessa!❤
Great 👍
Remember its a disorder
What’s your point
NPD sounds like my ex-girlfriend. She’s a man eater.
Could you share example story? What was her habit/character?
don't have kids
this is BS , no one with NPD disorder would make video about themselves , and YES , npd is INCURABLE !
Not correct, listen Cluster B Milkshake....
While npd may be incurable there are many therapies proven to alleviate symptoms, cold therapy, self supply, etc... and as far as narcs never making videos about themselves that is objectively false: sam vaknin, hg tudor, mental healness, Ben Taylor...
Yeah she doesn’t seem to me like she has it
My ex husband was a narcissist. I had to go!!
Lol what a garden variety. She is basically 99% healthy. :D This video is like representing someone with Aspergers as an autistic headbanger :D
Came here to say this. It's extremely dangerous and misleading to portray this boring self absorbed girl as a narcissist, they are irredeemable predators.
Sounds like a regular teenage girl who is figuring out life.
so all character flaws are now diagnoses
You're a weirdo
NPD is a serious mental health condition with a 20.3% suicide rate (www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC5459230/)
Is Borderline Personality disorder a character flaw? Is autism a character flaw? Is adhd a Character flaw? I don't think anyone would assert that. Narcissistic personality disorder is no different.
There's a lot of misinformation about NPD out there. So I don't blame you for not knowing it's severity. But comments like this just perpetuate the issue. For the people narcissistic people hurt AND the narcissists themselves.
Hope you have a good day
Oh.. my goodness..
Exactly....character flaws, you hit the nail on the head.
Silly
she is not a narcissist
There are self-aware narcissists and clearly she is one.
Shush
She's probably been through therapy and learned how to be more mindful. Not every narcissist is some evil psychopath.
narcissits are not this aware unless she's being manipulative in this video, she doesn't have to live with npd the people in her life unfortunately do.
Lmaoo she has npd wdym she doesn't have to live with it?? Takes like this are wild, if a disorder is convenient to the outside its not real and if its not easy to ignore then you feel more bad about people around the person than the person struggling with it 💀💀
You think there's no self aware narcissists? Lol
Why dont you narcissists ever talk about the terrible things you do to others.
so you've just decided that every narcissist is an abuser?
@@degenerate-otaku6634they are tho lol😂
A narc who is self aware??? Color me surprised.
Sounds like almost every girl nowadays
it's funny since it's proven that men are more likely to be narcissists
A lot of girls feel anxiety about their image because the social pressure but that doesn’t mean it’s cause by a disorder all of the time
This is interesting. But i don't think inflating your ego thru affirmations is going to help. Jesus Christ is the WAY, the TRUTH, the LIFE. He will help us if we humble ourselves to come to Him and ask for forgiveness and help. God bless everyone who reads this. You've tried everything else, why not try God? ❤
Amen! Jesus is the only true cure for any and everything.✝️🙏
Screw off this is about mental health not religion
Girl shut up, don’t bring Jesus on a page about helping others with mental health
@@Stoshnut maybe he was too God. There is in the Bible that the godly often dies before their time. If he was a Godly men in all aspects maybe it’s what happened.
