Boss thank you so much You have no idea how helpful you are to me I passed my driving test today with 1 minor all because of you I had no instructor Thank you so much
Hi, can you answer this? My dad is an experience driver (more than 40 years driving), and my dad drives downshifting as needed, like if he's in 5th, and sees a red light, he will downshift to 4th, to 3rd, to 2nd, and eventually neutral if he comes to a full stop, and he advises me to do so too as this reduces wear on the brakes, as the engine assists the car in braking, however I fear that this may cause the car excessive wear on the clutch, more if I don't have a lot of driving experience, however I have other driver friends that tells me it's better to go neutral as you stop, as this prevents excessive clutch wear, but if you don't have to come to a full stop, you need to learn which gear to engage to continue or stopping and then continuing your driving. Also, to add to the situation, the car my dad uses is nearly practically new, which is why he further tells me to do this. Which would you think it's better overall?
Hi Claoudio. Everyone has their own opinion but personally I teach to gear down skipping gears. E.g, 5th then 3rd then 1st. Or 5th, 2nd, neutral. Or 5th, 1st, neutral. Depending on how the traffic is flowing etc. I agree with you about the wear on the clutch. I would rather wear my breaks which can be changed easily than the clutch which is a big job. There's a video I did on this and it attracted lots of discussion.
