Judas Priest has been around since the 1970's and Rob Halfords voice is considered one of the best from the metal genre. This is 90's Priest, and this song was an answer to people who were starting to say Judas Priest were past their prime.
@@flerbus I don't know why you would say those albums were mediocre, to each their own but i never thought they were done and i've been listening to them since 79. This is my fav band of all time, every album is different with Priest's expressions. Turbo put them on the radio to get more fans and Ram it Down has brutal guitars and vocals.
turbo sounded like it could have been made by the band "loverboy" ...it sucked "Ram it Down" was better i admit, but points are taken away for Johnny B Goode cover...
The metal National Anthem. Perhaps the greatest metal solo ever. You proved that it’s impossible to keep your head still. It’s the musical equivalent of Red Bull.
Hey guys. Glenn Tipton and K.K. Downing of Judas Priest is probably the best heavy metal guitar duo in History! If not number 1, top 5 for certain!!! Their catalog is huge. Keep exploring them! Awesome reaction guys! Kudos!
This song is relentless! Amazing guitar. Judas Priest are so versatile. From hard rock/prog. to thrash metal. Love their hard/prog. stuff that I've heard. Love this in small doses! Fun reaction - thanks guys!
Congratulations. You just survived the most metal song ever.. It's all easy from here. Even death metal isnt as metal as this. so well done :) Peace from Australia \m/
Yes, the live show was amazing. November 1990. I was 18 but already a seasoned concertgoer. Not only Priest promoting this album but the openers were Megadeth touring for Rust in Peace and Testament touring for Souls of Black. Greatest show I’ve ever seen and I’ve been to a lot of great shows. You name them and I’ve probably seen them live as far as Metal/hard rock goes.
Judas Priest - The Sentinel (Live) is one of the best showcase of Glen and K.K.'s back and fore guitar soloing, combined with Rob Halford's stage presence makes it a must watch!
Is this not intense? Thrash metal at its peak! Dual guitars, both crazy good. Rob Halford's voice! The insane drumming! OMG!! This song kicks ass. Thank you for reacting to it guys! Cheers!
You guys like metal, this band is the big 4 (metallica, megadeth, slayer, and anthrax), testament, Judas Priest, Helloween, Iron Maiden, and a dab of Dragonforce in one. I kid you not, and they are all female japanese band who plays in high heels and Greek Goddess dresses. They do thrash, power, progressive, and metal ballads. You've got to try them out...they absolutely shred! The band is lovebites and the song is hoy war ruclips.net/video/bgAxpEpEcno/видео.html. Many musician reactors reference the lead guitar duo being up there with Tipton/Downing and Smith / Murray from Maiden...they are THAT good! This is just scratching the surface, enjoy!
Wow, this Judas Priest song really blows your head off - the drumming (especially at the beginning!) the guitars, the vocals, real heavy metal. This is from the studio album of the same name, released in 1990. Other great songs from this album are Hell Patrol, One Shot at Glory and A Touch of Evil. The band members on this album were Rob Halford (vocals), Scott Travis (drums), Glen Tipton and K K Downing (both fantastic guitarists) and Ian Hill (bass guitar). Thanks so much for this reaction, guys, much appreciated. I'm so glad you like the shirts, the main thing is you enjoy wearing them, guys, that's what it's all about. The Judas Priest design on your shirt, George is from the Redeemer of Souls album, I chose it because I thought the design was fabulous! Patrick, I loved the design on your shirt too, and I know that you've reacted to the song Paranoid. This album cover is from 1970 and is so iconic, I'm pretty sure I bought the album all these years ago! Take care George and Patrick and thanks again.
@@Free-flyBE I think they were and it's great to have them back. As far as I could tell, they didn't have any metal band shirts, so I thought I would fill that gap!
Patrick, I heard you say that this song was not something you would normally listen too. Judas Priest have been around for many years and you should give earlier Priest a listen when you get a chance as they have done all types of styles of rock and metal over the years. 'Beyond the Realms of Death' is a good late 70's song that shows off Robs voice and then you two can listen to 'Youve got another thing coming' from the 80's just to get a feel for them. Each decade of Priest brought in a new style of playing like many of those bands who have been around for 40+ years.
Nice, the metal gods finally. Tipton has soul in his playing, he has so many leads that just sing. Downing is the mad man on guitar together they put metal into heavy metal. Rob Halford is called the metal god, his voice is like no other. You should listen to their older stuff, more up your alley. Victim of Changes live is a must see, either live vengeance or us festival 83. Another live performance is the Sentinel from 86 Fuel for Life tour.
You know this does grow on you. Wasn’t into Metal in my teens. I was in prison when some dude turned me onto Metallica’s And Justice for all album with the Lyrics. It changed me! It was very limited to what we had to listen to. So as you imagine I listened to that tape a lot.
Dude...I'm going to vomit right now.....Priceless. People listen to this kind of music everyday, what's going on in their mind? I am 62 years old and have listened to priest since I was a teen and want to thank them for all the great years.
Shredding fury and madness from Judas Priest. It was their definitive statement, that they were far beyond any competition. This song needed to be made by them to address the musical environment of the time. It definitely put all other bands on notice. But there were no comers, and it stands to this day as the singular high point of over-the-top nuclear metal.
Judas Priest has been around so long that their catalog of music is very diverse. I’ve loved them since the late 70s when I didn’t even know who they were. Now the entire painkiller album is fast and hard from beginning to end. The hardest they ever made in my opinion. Check out stuff more of them and you will be amazed at how different they can be from this. Rob halford is the metal god for a reason with that voice.
Wow Guys!!! This song came out when I was 30 & pregnant with my 2nd child. The year was 1990. I put this one on my “labor and delivery” playlist thinking it would kill my pain 😂😂 It didn’t work but still a great song! 🔥🔥 My now 31 yr old daughter loves this song too!! Great reaction & you should give it another listen for sure. Check out some earlier JP as well. “Beyond The Realms Of Death” from 1978 would be a great one ♥️
You guys need to check out Judas Priest live dortmund 1983. The song "riding on the wind". Prime vocals from Rob Halford the undisputed metal god. Nobody can match his 5 octave vocal range.
This is the most intense Judas Priest song there is. Definitely not for the faint of heart. The rest of the album is much less chaotic and absolutely brilliant.
GIVE US MORE JUDAS PRIEST! Again, I recommend ANY song off the album "Defenders of the Faith". That guitar player is GLENN TIPTON! Easily one of the top 3 guitarists ever in my opinion. Off "Defenders" if you can find a way to do "When The Night Comes Down" please do that song. Older Priest songs to check out are "(Take These) Chains" and "Devil's Child" off the album "Screaming for Vengeance". If you want an amazing live song check out "The Green Manalishi" or "Diamonds and Rust" off "The Best Of Judas Priest: Living After Midnight" The album "Turbo" is highly underrated but every song is complete fire. I recommend "Out In The Cold" off that one. You guys are the bomb. Love ya!
I really like the songs from the British Steel album (1980), one of my favourites is one which I think is maybe a bit underrated - You Don't Have to be Old to be Wise. It's a cracker - I love it!
turn it louder. Louder. I mean louder! If your ears are not bleeding at the end it ain't loud enough. The walls need to shake. Did I mention this song is best when LOUD
This song is kickass! Rob Halford wanted Judas Priest to move into thrash, and this is the result. It wasn't enought for Rob so he left Judas, and created a band called Fight with was total Thrash!
This album is a profound redemption after that Turbo thing, lol. Ram It Down was better but still no Defenders, or Screaming For Vengeance. Turbo was not that bad (nor was RID), but that "guitar synth" stuff coming up behind Defenders Of The Faith was too much of a commercial departure from what they were known for. Painkiller was essentially JP's reply to all the complaints and criticisms that they sold out : "Sold out?? Hold our fuckin beers!"
Other commenters below have filled in with a history going back to the early '70's. Welcome to the world of guitarist Glenn Tipton (closing solo by second lead KK Downing), and vocals courtesy of Rob Halford: This album was JPs answer to critics saying they had lost their metal gods standing in the late '80s (JP - "hold my beer...". It was also the debut album for new drummer Scott Travis - guess he did OK. You really should have played the official video to see the energy involved: ruclips.net/video/nM__lPTWThU/видео.html
People talk about this song, it is great but it's not the best on the album. The whole thing is a masterpiece. As for best tune, for me it's either Hell Patrol or One Shot At Glory.
😂😂. Metal baby. All about that bass and those guitars. Rob Halford. The metal God. Lol. George. Love that you love it. 🥰❤️
"it's like a machine gun pointed right at us" yup
This is not an ordinary song, it´s a heavy metal ride. 😊

after "turbo" and "ram it down" (which were mediocre) many, including myself, thought it was over . then they released "painkiller" and jaws dropped.

This song is Heavy Metal. It incorporates everything that is great about Metal.
It never gets old having your face melted off by the this song.
im the guy that listens to this song 50 times in one day for a week in a row, especially when i was first discovered it at 11 xD
The metal National Anthem. Perhaps the greatest metal solo ever. You proved that it’s impossible to keep your head still. It’s the musical equivalent of Red Bull.
That was a trip!
Greatest heavy metal band ever.
NOTHING touches British heavy metal,nothing.

This album was the debut of their 3rd (?) drummer, Scott Travis - no better way to make an introduction than with a cannon-fire drum intro like that!

The BEST way to be introduced to the Metal Gods love, love, love Judas Priest. Keep digging there is soooooo much more to discover.
Many of us have been listening to this type of stuff daily since the late 70's 'til obviously today.
Judas Priest - The Sentinel (Live) is one of the best showcase of Glen and K.K.'s back and fore guitar soloing, combined with Rob Halford's stage presence makes it a must watch!
The Sentinel live 1986 from the Fuel For Life tour is my all time fav. live clip.

Such a bad ass song. I'm more partial to early Judas music but this song makes me want to beat something. Love it.
I saw them they are great. My band in high school
Now we are getting somewhere.
I saw these guys live in April 2022. They played this song live and it was incredible!!!
