Seems like Thailand vloggers come to PH and get a tremendous boost in views and subscribers. Most have English only channels so the audience is limited in Thailand coz of the language barrier. It’s actually a win-win situation, vloggers get more views and subs and PH gets the exposure it needs for tourism.
I dint think so for tourism. Yes it’s partly for tourism but usually those foreigners youtubers who wants to bait views and just take advantage the hospitable nature Filipinos have.
I have watched these vloggers and have come to tell them apart. Some are baiters while others have a genuine desire to know our country and people and have totally immersed themselves to the culture. But hey, I for one, have no complaints. Why? They pay for food, rent, etc which brings money to local businesses. Sure they get views from me but I don't subscribe. I only subscribed to only a few. Bottom line is, don't watch if you don't like them.
Agree.. Me, I know who to follow and subscribe to. There are many vloggers and youtubers who only use Philippines to gain more views and subscribers but their contents are good, but nothing new and almost very common already.
We Filipinos also watch our fellow Filipinos living abroad and we grow their channels too and not just foreigners, I feel I just need to point that out.
Well the Filipinos who are raving about the wonders abroad are not being Fake. They are not treating you like morons or assume that you are worshipping white people because you are from a very colonial minded society.

@RKD O9 exactly! We are known to be the kindest, friendliest and hospitable world-wide, then we need to live up to that name that has always been part of Filipino culture.
I agree. And for me, i've been supporting them coz i realized that no matter what their motives are, they are still promoting our country to the world which will help our tourism and ultimately benefit our country. Thailand's GDP is much higher than ours, and one of the main contributors to their GDP is tourism... Also, i think the current influx of vloggers and tourists now may have been caused by earlier travel vlogs made by vloggers like Mike and Nelly, Juicy Vlogs, etc who showcased the Philippines very well through well-edited and cinematic videos. And what i love about Mike and Nelly is that they even chose to move here permanently, showing that their love for the country is genuine.
@@fritzasong we need to relax and don't be too possessive and expect too much of them lol. Of course they are expat youtube travel vblogers and that's how they make their living. Let them immerse themselves to our culture, our food, our lifestyle, see our beautiful natural tourist spots and enjoy. Let them experience the hospitality and kindness of Filipinos. So when they leave, they have the most unforgettable memories of our country. SO let us support them.
True, some use it only for more views and subs. Coz we filipinos love watching expats fall in love in out country and we love when people praise our country and culture.

In this situation there are going to be people that are going to exploit. It's like that in any country where there is an opportunity to cash in on a craze or a fad. But there are some good ones too. Not all are there to exploit but some are.
Excellent breakdown and lowdown on the topic. Thank you for diving into this and explaining it so thoroughly. RUclips suggested your "7 Things You Should Never Do In The Philippines" video to me at the end. Happy compiling!
I love your vlogs Sir, natural and straight forward. Simply lovin' the positivity. Keep up the good work Sir. We'll be supporting your channel all the way. ❤️ Enjoy the beautiful Philippines. 💯
As long as foreigners 1) follow Philippine Law, 2) respect Filipino culture & traditions, and 3) do not display arrogance to Filipinos, or other foreigners in the Philippines, disturbing the peace, they are most welcome to stay in the PI.
@@my_other_side473"P.I." means "Philippine Islands." They are, simply, initials of "Philippine Islands." It was a slang expression used especially when the country was still under the United States. Its use is different to "PH," which are the new and OFFICIAL international designated initials for "The Philippines," labeled for international purposes - like in international flights, for instance. So, regarding why I used "PI," rather than "PH," I chose "PI" not to please anyone, but simply because I FELT like it.

Philippines is a Vloggers paradise, if any Vlogger that want to increase their subscribers Philippines is the place to do it. But you have to continue vlogging about the Philippines. It’s more fun in the Philipines.
We are always compared to Thailand. After all, it doesnt matter who or what is better. In the spirit of brotherhood and peace, both countries are trying to offer to others whats best that they can offer ,no offense. I think that why most tourist prefer to see first the Philippines is that we speak English. Even the unschooled ordinary man can understand at least.
We always compare to them because of hospitality. But in reality they can't hold a grudge with the thai attitude. Hahahahahah. Pinoy are cooler than thai.😂😂😂😂
True! When I went to Thailand to attend a conference, nobody understand me starting from the airport. I’ve been asking people how to ride, where is this place, etc in English, but they cant answer me coz they dont speak English.
I have to disagree with some filipinos saying foreign youtubers are exploiting them for views and subscribers. Foreign vloggers are spending a lot of money for their food , hotels , transportation ,airlines while in the Philippines. I saw some foreign youtubers like" Escaping Barefoot" promoting the Philippines in their Instagram account and the response from potential foreign tourist are mostly positive. I think it's beneficial to both foreign vloggers earning a lot of money from RUclips and the Philippines getting free publicity in their tourism campaign.
There are so many other factors that drive tourism, vloggers are a very small factor actually. Think of it this way, in 2019 before the pandemic, Vietnam had 19 million foreign tourists and Philippines had under 10 million. Yet when some of these foreign vloggers go from the Philippines to Vietnam, their channels drop and their views dropped considerably compared to the Philippines. So why would potential foreign tourists only watch videos on the Philippines? They don't . Of course potential foreign tourists are just as interested in other countries and probably more Interested in places like Thailand Vietnam and Bali because far more Western tourists go to those countries/places. But for these vloggers their Filipino subscribers are very fickle as soon as the vloggers leave the Philippines they'll just unsub. That's why the channels drop when they leave the Philippines.
Well you cant really please everyone but whats important is you get the views ans it still is entertaining, for me as a Filipino, it is a great publicity for Philippine's tourism
Yes, i agree.. i actually subscribe to All new vloggers who came to philippines to support Them even they just came to ph just for subs and views. I am curious how they vlog and where they go. I can see too that their channel are growing really fast. But then, when they leave to visit another country then the views gets really really low like from 20k views to 500-1k views. For me as a filipino we dont watch so much vlogs when its in other country bcoz many cant relate. Many filipinos dont do travel abroad for tour. We only travel mostly just within philippines.
That is true. Funny thing though, I have been traveling to different countries for over a year now, I met Filipino/Filipina in every country I was in. Some traveling and some working there. The ones that were traveling were on vacation from working in the middle east. Always made me happy meeting them abroad.
Thailand don’t care about RUclipsrs. Filipinos do. Especially OFWs. Full support. They come to Philippines for views and subscribers. And when they leave…
Ph is friendly to foreigners with its very relax immigration polity. very easy to extend your visa. English widely spoken so no language barrier among bloggers.
I like your content showing my motherland Philippines. Our country has the most English speakers in Asia and has the best beaches. Not only the Filipinos in the Philippines who watch your videos but so are we who are outside the country. And we share your videos to our social media to help your channel grow and our country’s tourism. It’s a win win strategies. Keep on sharing your Philippine videos. Thank you.
I am a Filipino in UK and I love watching foreigner youtubers doing vlogs about Philippines, because of course it’s my motherland and that makes us kinda proud so in return we support them.Other countries have amazing places too but id still prefer to watch vlogs about Philippines(but thats just me).,i kind of like lost interest watching if it’s somewhere else other than my beloved Philippines🇵🇭🇵🇭🇵🇭
Me too as a filipino guess for us who live in forieng country out of PH seeing vlogs in Philippines makes us feels home and we got a chance to see different part of PH where we didn't visit actually i watch both either forieng vloger or filipino vloger i don't mind its just kinda respect be gets.
They make us income(filipino bait), It's easy to say you're proud because they visit our country because we can speak and understand English and not the Thais of course who is watching videos that they don't understand, Many local vloggers who just don't vlog does but also helps those in need like Kulas, Cong TV
Number 6 or 7 reason vloggers may be coming to the Philippines is due to a change to laws in Thailand regarding filming people. One of my favorite Thailand vloggers, Mickey Stotch, shared this news a few videos ago. He has been considering going elsewhere including the Philippines.
They have had laws before the new ones on that issue, but they are getting Stricker about it with the new ones. Personally I would never film someone if they didn't want to be filmed up close. But if you are filming a public space briefly I understand the concern of vloggers. Complicated issue
I hope his not😅 we do have local vlogger or foreign living in the philippines and helping the local behind the cameras BECOMINGFILIPINO his been here since 2011 i guess and showing how to survive and live in the philippines travelling to Beautiful spot across the country...
As i’ve commented in the mentioned you tubers, when in the Phils, be sincere keep the positive and happy vibes. We are a fun loving nation. We love more who love us. Kudos man👍♥️
I agree, Most Filipinos watch foreign vloggers who are in the Philippines. Once they leave viewers lost interest already. So they keep clickbaiting by putting Philippines in their thumbnail even when they are in the UK.
Oh, hi! Greetings from Bulacan. I found this video on my Home Page that's why I watched it. I was curious to why as well. I watched some of your previous videos this month/past week. Don't remember exactly what they were but one did appeared on my Home Page (just like this video) and watched your content. It would be nice if all RUclipsrs in the Philippines will have a charity foundation to help needy people in the Philippines, like donating 5 percent of their income.
i think its time for the PH government! to impose taxes for foreign youtuber! they only benefits for this kind of flatforms, they injoy here in our country and also gain money! hahaha ginagatasan pala ang mga pinoy ganon ba, hahaha
Unfortunately the government makes it very difficult to do that here unless you are a resident. It is illegal to raise money for needy people here unless you have the right to work. Also most folks doing youtube in the Philippines do not make any money, the money they earn barely covers the cost of production of a video. There are some channels that make decent money but they better be getting over 1 million views a month in order to tread water.
RUclipsr coming to the Philippines because in Philippines we support them.also we speak English it's easy for RUclipsr to grow their channel because in Philippines there's no language barriers compare to Thailand or Indonesia for examples.

I think it has to do with viewers too! Filipinos can converse and comprehend English better since English is part of our school curriculum. Hence, there's minimal language barrier. It's actually a win2x situation with both the vloggers and PH. Vloggers can grow their channel and PH Tourism can be boosted as well.
That is not a significant reason. The Thais are used to white people and foreigners. While Filipinos are easily mesmerized by white people that look like the white skinned celebrities that they worship.

We, Filipinos understand the clickbait, but hey, if they promote Philippines, we will support it. Philippines needs promotion help. But when they leave, many Filipinos will also stop watching their videos in other countries. lol. You have to be in Philippines. That is what most Filipinos want. You promote the country, then we will support you. It is a win-win situation lol. There is no point watching videos of other countries, if it does not promote our country. We will just move on to other vloggers who still or newly promotes Philippines. We love our country that much, even tho it has many problems. Even if they might think that we are gullible. Hey, it is fine. lol. But as what the economists are saying, Philippines needs to strengthen its tourism as we failed to develop it, even if we have plethora of destinations spots than other South East Asian countries. Tourism is one sector that we can really lift a lot of Filipinos out of poverty. Also, I started following youtubers who promotes Philippines as a retirement place. We need more expats with stable finance, as relying on "tourists only" was kind of dangerous economically, considering the pandemic. More expats, more internal purchasing power, even during a crisis like pandemic.
@@meghanstevens4008 Nope. Its being realistic in today's digital world and our economic needs, based on economists. At the end of the day, a foreigner cannot own a land but only rent and you will be deported or blacklisted if you participate in politics.
@M H Some travel to another countries and have followers from other nations . Many go to PH for clicks and to improve their social media algorithm standings. Some retirees do use youtube to know more on where to retire.
Simple reason. It's for them sweet youtube views and money from Filipinos who flock whenever Philippines is in the title. Look at the Thai vloggers channel views blowup when they went to PH.
More than 10 million Filipinos work abroad, and about 4 million live in the United States both working and married. They miss their hometown. So watch the clip on RUclips. Also, most Filipinos can speak English because they were colonial. and also having to work abroad, it is necessary to acquire English for the future to work abroad is to work in the industry Outsourcing And foreigners marry Filipino women or like the Philippines.

That is true for me 😄 I am just interested in Philippines videos, but once these vloggers are out of the country, I am unsubbing or just ignore their other videos.
Great point on RUclipsrs making a pit stop in the Philippines to gain subscribers and moving on afterwards. Filipinos. Here today and gone tomorrow. The bottom line is purely economic, but others like Mike and Nelly are genuinely happy to live and work in the Philippines. In turn, they have a very strong Filipino base subscribers and quite successful in turning their channel and brand into a more profitable business. Not too many new RUclipsrs can match their success, but being in the Philippines will definitely give you a great chance.
Actually if vloggers who are coming from the Philippines and tend to make videos from another country their viewers get small views compare when your in the Philippines you get a lot of views and subscribers.
@@arvinlumbris4447 Those travel vloggers that have really good content can get views anywhere. Of course if these foreigners are just click baiting Filipinos on all their content then you're absolutely right the channel will drop big time once they leave the Philippines. Thailand's COVID visa extensions have run out, people (like me) have to leave Thailand now after being here for almost a year or more. Thailand has a normal maximum stay of 6 months out of the year, the Philippines allows up to 36 months if your from the states.

Thailand should not feel threatened since they have been the number 1 tourist destination but the RUclips blogging is a totally different ballgame because bloggers are after viewers. Did you know that the Philippines have the biggest diaspora in the world which means you can find overseas Filipino workers in practically all the countries in the world and these Filipinos crave for content that will remind them of home. Filipinos for instance are the third largest immigrant group in in the US next to China and Mexico.
interesting specific breakdown why bloggers are travelling to the Php. It was a similar reason why this British blogger based in Thailand comes to the Php. to get some views & new subscribers then fly back to Thailand again. Once they move back out of the Php., to whatever destinations they are heading next, they will lose viewers from the Php. & this is true. Btw: there are 4.211million Filipinos in America & 838,000 Filipinos in Canada who tend to watch news about their motherland not only on Filipino Channels here in the U.S. & Canada but also on RUclips. There are a lot of Filipinos also living in Australia (232,000 ) New Zealand (72,612) & U.K (200,000) . These huge overseas Filipinos can have a huge impact on RUclipsrs views & subscribers, example: Mark & Nely (Making it happend Vlog) or FinnSnow or Kulas from Becoming Filipino. All these 4 RUclipsrs live in the Php for at least more than 3 to 4 years & made Php as their residency. One (Kulas) RUclipsr changed his citizens to a Filipino from Canadian. I am a Fil-Am from California.
There seems to be a whole 'vlogosphere' that I'm just now becoming fully aware of. Recently I'm in Vietnam and last week it felt like a semi-pro YT vlogger Convention was in town. Many were attractive young couples who have sweet gear, editing skills and seemed to have scheduled shooting locations in mind already. Yes, I think there are a lot of Visa/Covid Leftover scheduling and timing issues for why certain places are hotspots and why those hotspots move around. Good stuff, thanks for this vid!
Yeah there's so many now the flood gates have opened especially to the Philippines but you're right also Vietnam and Thailand still has so many. There are many reasons for it. 1st of all a lot of these people have realized that they could have their travels paid for if they're vlogging and making enough money. The downside of that is that they're not really enjoying the places they're going to they're too busy filming, editing and basically hustling, that they don't have time to stop and smell the roses. Secondly they don't want to work anymore in their own country they would rather just run around with the camera, sort of the modern day backpacker but they just never want to leave. But it's interesting the phenomenon of foreign vloggers in the Philippines, Filipinos really worship them. It's actually becoming too much of a saturated market already and in the near future the novelty is going to wear off, the fad is going to wane-where there's just too many people doing exactly the same thing that even have the same titles, same clickbait, that use the same fonts on their thumbnail. They go to the same places and say the same things. So it's really becoming like a broken record and a bunch of copycats really.
My take on this, Native Thailanders do not follow expats bloggers and are not interested in RUclips..different story with Filipinos.. we love your tsismis and things you do in our country...
Do not follow ex-pat vloggers? True. Not interested in RUclips? Absolutely false. The majority of the Thai views are going to... Thai-speaking RUclipsrs. I'm sure that Thais and Filipinos are on the same wavelength as to how proud of the culture we are and how excited we are to let foreigners see what we can offer. The only difference is in English proficiency, which Thais incredibly lack.
Awesome insights through the video as always Dr. Laway. Now the recommendation card that popped-up right at the end is "Why I Chose the Philippines as a Homebase." but just to share, I've watched the "After Living in the Philippines for a Month, My Thoughts and Impressions" a month ago and that made me Subscribe to the channel and got me hooked-up. More subs to come. 👌🏼
Hi Dr! Since you asked, the algorithm shows me your “after 30 days in Philippines…”. Interesting-since I had already Viewed it a week or two ago. Thanks for all your good info-would love to hear more about expats who’ve relocated-early retired guys looking to enjoy long term relationships with 40s -50s year old Phillips as -happiness, satisfaction, drama levels, mutual appreciation- maybe with some travel thrown in. (Phillapina Pea covers quite a bit from philapina perspective- would appreciate the expat views maybe?) Hope that’s helpful? Much peace!
Interesting watch, fun to figure out who you were talking about throughout it, think I got a pretty good grasp on it 🤣 The point of people going to PH just to get views and subs is a terrible long term plan, you are completely right. Something interesting to note as well, Philippines is one of the lowest countries in the world for RPM, so if it’s your job, sometimes those bigger view numbers don’t actually mean much. Fun watch Mate 😊
Some vloggers are honest. Especially the newbies . In every vlogs . They repeatedly thanking the country . There are also some pioneers vloggers that are also honest. Always thanking the country for everything .
The next video YT suggested to me was called “After One Year of Living in the Philippines” which was something I actually finished watching before but I guess the reason why YT was trying to lead me to watch it is because I had put the slider back to the beginning after I watched it. Just a habit of mine.
A bit of facts and it's absolutely true as a sub myself I would like to watch vloggers who are much interested in the culture of our country immerse with the people not just going out at touristy places that most vloggers do. If you want to maintain your number of views better stay don't leave.
As a Thai, seeing vloggers moving out of our country and to Vietnam or the Philippines is very saddening, and honestly a bit heartbreaking. I love that the people who are/were here genuinely loved the culture which I grew up with and am very proud of. But the reality of the RUclips algorithm and the English proficiency (or the lack thereof / deficiency) over here is the truth that can't be denied. It's not that Thai people are less proud of our country than Filipinos, it's just that most people can't understand what's being said in the video. To prove this, there's this channel called "Up Future Channel", which is basically a channel that gathers comments from foreigners about our country, either in the comments on social media, or in vlogs spoken in a different language, and translates them into Thai. They get so many views from Thai people by just showing the comments and translating what they said. Also, it recommended "Why I Chose Philippines 🇵🇭 as a Homebase over Thailand 🇹🇭" to me at the end of the video, which was like a stab in the heart, but also accurate to what I've been looking through on RUclips currently.
Thailand is great, and had many amazing good points (the people being the primary one.) But the government went to war on the expats 'just getting by' and then moved onto the the 'not wealthy.' And nobody (and I mean NOBODY) wants to be disturbed in their later/retirement years. Now I know this channel host thinks it was OK to move these people on, but they built Thailand over many decades. They attracted family and friends, they helped travellers with local English speaking knowledge. But they were ultimately betrayed by the Thai government. Thailand has actually created a long-term problem of it's own making. It will struggle to be a primary destination for retirees in the future, because it's lost the trust of pensioners. The Philippines leaves people alone, has a clear stable visa program, and will reap the rewards.
@@UKVeteran2024 and there is one RUclipsr whom i watched also said, it's forbidden to give tips or something to the less fortunate people on the street.... But in The Philippines....they don't mind if you give something for those people on the street or whenever you go. It's just a small act of kindness....after.

Only a handful of foreign vloggers in the PH have great love and sympathy and sincerity doing videos with good intentions.
True, some use it only for more views and subs. Coz we filipinos love watching expats fall in love in out country and we love when people praise our country and culture.
So true.. they re here to make more money…coz 95%of filipinos are on social media…
@@salomeminoza4708 its ok everyone needs to make a living . But I hope they give back to the community or country that they invest in vlogging. I subscribe to a lot of them actually, but I think the sincerity you can’t not fake it you can actually pinpoint who’s in the bandwagon 😂. For me Hungry Syrian Wanderer - Basel is an amazing YT personality and Becoming Filipino - Kulas and Jessica Lee has great contents as well . Those are the handful of foreign vloggers that I like .
In the meantime, most of the Pinoy vloggers on youtube are fake news manufacturers! So i will rather watch the foreign vloggers!!!

As long as foreigners 1) follow Philippine Law, 2) respect Filipino culture & traditions, and 3) do not display arrogance to Filipinos, or other foreigners in the Philippines, disturbing the peace, they are most welcome to stay in the PI.
*PH not PI
@@my_other_side473"P.I." means "Philippine Islands." They are, simply, initials of "Philippine Islands." It was a slang expression used especially when the country was still under the United States. Its use is different to "PH," which are the new and OFFICIAL international designated initials for "The Philippines," labeled for international purposes - like in international flights, for instance. So, regarding why I used "PI," rather than "PH," I chose "PI" not to please anyone, but simply because I FELT like it.
@@Spy359 yeah I know it's a colonial term but the US does not own the Philippines Anymore. So please don't try to be a colonizer again.

Exactly, all publicity is good publicity.
plus all these payment and stuff, is also helping the economy going
Agree 👍
Some do that for sure

They make us income(filipino bait), It's easy to say you're proud because they visit our country because we can speak and understand English and not the Thais of course who is watching videos that they don't understand, Many local vloggers who just don't vlog does but also helps those in need like Kulas, Cong TV
Number 6 or 7 reason vloggers may be coming to the Philippines is due to a change to laws in Thailand regarding filming people. One of my favorite Thailand vloggers, Mickey Stotch, shared this news a few videos ago. He has been considering going elsewhere including the Philippines.
😇
They have had laws before the new ones on that issue, but they are getting Stricker about it with the new ones. Personally I would never film someone if they didn't want to be filmed up close. But if you are filming a public space briefly I understand the concern of vloggers. Complicated issue

Agree.. i subscribe to almost new vloggers who came to philippines. I know they are clickbaiting but i dont care. ☺️

Also, most Filipinos can speak English because they were colonial. and also having to work abroad, it is necessary to acquire English for the future to work abroad is to work in the industry Outsourcing

Thailand should not feel threatened since they have been the number 1 tourist destination but the RUclips blogging is a totally different ballgame because bloggers are after viewers. Did you know that the Philippines have the biggest diaspora in the world which means you can find overseas Filipino workers in practically all the countries in the world and these Filipinos crave for content that will remind them of home.

interesting specific breakdown why bloggers are travelling to the Php.
Very good. I'm preparing to move to Tuy Batangas Philippines 🇵🇭
Nice, safe travels!

The point of people going to PH just to get views and subs is a terrible long term plan, you are completely right.
Something interesting to note as well, Philippines is one of the lowest countries in the world for RPM, so if it’s your job, sometimes those bigger view numbers don’t actually mean much.

Hello Ben Ja, thanks for subscribing!
Filipinos are very supportive!
A bit of facts and it's absolutely true as a sub myself I would like to watch vloggers who are much interested in the culture of our country immerse with the people not just going out at touristy places that most vloggers do. If you want to maintain your number of views better stay don't leave.
Happy sunday everyone here💝
As a Thai, seeing vloggers moving out of our country and to Vietnam or the Philippines is very saddening, and honestly a bit heartbreaking.

The youtuber named Mergim made a similar video on why RUclipsr are going to the Philippines. I agree with his reasons and analysis as well. English spoken more in the Philippines so for English speaking RUclipsrs, the Philippines is nice country to vlog in Southeast Asia.
