Where Did ‘Minnesota Nice’ Come From?

- We heard it many times from Super Bowl visitors - how friendly people are here in Minnesota. By being helpful, we certainly lived up to our tradition of "Minnesota Nice." But that term doesn't always mean we welcome everyone into our homes with open arms. So, where did Minnesota Nice come from? (3:42)

I agree with Mike. Additionally, it kind of makes Minnesotaans look small minded and not well traveled if they think that they are the only people that can be friendly, neighborly, and helpful. I’ve been here for 10 years, can’t wait to move.
totally agree w/ Mike on the nice ice😆Lived here 30+years - I think the best advice I've read was " If you are moving to Minnesota bring your own friends "
Minnesota is a Landfill dump !
....I forgot smugness. Mn’s specialty
Minnesotans are nice but NOT friendly.
They're not nice in my opinion. They tolerate you.
I feel sorry for transplants who actually fall for the whole ‘MN Nice’ campaign.
25% of European Minnesotans are descendants of Lousy Scandinavian Peasants and Germans that weren’t very fond of the Native American Indian particularly Dakota and not very fond of African Americans either, Minnesota has a Racist problem !
I feel very very sorry for all the Enthnic groups, Minorities,
and Transplants in Minnesota that receive the Loki treatment from the Lousy Germanic-Scandinavian White trickster Minnesota people !
Passive-Aggressive. Stoic. Back stabbers. Closed minded. Source: former Mn Native. :)
Very bigoted comment
@@julienygren8935 minnesotans are nothing but a bunch of viscious psychopaths
@Julie Nygren
Must apply to you then.
@@julienygren8935 I am ana outsider, and this is accurate. It must be you! Shame on you!
@@julienygren8935 Your surname means new branch in Swedish. Pratar du svenska?
"A Minnesotan will give you directions to anywhere except their own house."
I agree 💯 with the Scandinavian cultural description. As a person with 3 Swedish grandparents and one Norwegian I understand what they’re saying. I had a hard time growing up with my family’s cultural values around Italian Americans.
Because Italians and most other Mediterranean cultures are more direct and to the point. Minnesotans are predominantly Scandinavian in origin. They don't believe in confronting the issue head on. Perhaps that's why you can't relate to Italian culture. Just saying. ✌
Hey kids if you loved junior high & victim culture. This is your town. 🤫
Minnesota BS
I think it is about a sense of fair play even if fair play is not well defined.
And ooohhh soooo humble!!! 😂🤣
codemyster323 .....so hilarious & ironic to be a braggart about humility.
buncha viscious psychopaths
Who minnesotans? Absolutely.
@@fcrowson6480 Yep and I lived here most of my life. Especially if you're a single white straight guy with no social circle. Almost like a cult here.I will be leaving for good soon though.
@@maxwell-gn2jn Best of luck to ya bro. I'm pretty much in the same situation as well here in Minnesota. Only I'll be out while my mom is still living, God willing.
Minnesota Nice always was a big lie.
I always invite new people to my cookouts, barbecues, birthday parties, weenie roasts, etc.
That's because there's an S, an E and an N on my driver's license, but they're not in the same place.
It’s fake
Passive aggressive isn’t “nice”
This comes from the movie Fargo
Iowans are actually nice if they like you
I'm watching this video after George Floyd ded.😭
He died because people here were too afraid to confront the dirty cops in this area. People are afraid of anything difficult,s o they just shove it under the rug.
@@leesdroidaccountharbin9665 he died of a fentanyl overdose
I read a web article comparing “ Minnesota Nice “ to RACISM !
@@leesdroidaccountharbin9665 He OD. Cops had nothing to do with his death.
