I like the mixture of materials and techniques a lot and this loose style which integrates them really speaks to me, great and beautiful results, too😍

Can’t say I’m a massive fan of fish but I do love how yours turned out. My fave is the one at the bottom. Such beautiful colours x

fish make for great drawing subjects, so many different shapes and colours to choose from 🙂 thats a nice thick reference book

Exactly that - there is so much variation! This book is perfect because it has so many different subjects - just a bit heavy to lug around 😂

I am so glad to discover this yt channel! I've been following you on Twitter for a few months and I love you sketchbooks. This video is soothing and everything looks lovely. I wish I could draw/paint, I should just give it a try and practice but everytime I see something beautiful I feel like it's too hard and I just give up immediately. Maybe one day, I'll try for good. I will go check your other videos for a peaceful evening. Love from France ! 😍

Aah thank you so much! I'm so grateful for your support 🥰 The comparison trap for art is a big one, and so easy to do when following so many artists on social media! I try and see art like that as 'where I want to be' rather than seeing the gap in between my skills and theirs, and use it as a way to push me forward instead. It's a constant lesson and as artists I don't think we'll ever be where we want to, but starting is the hardest part! I really hope you'll give it a try one day 🧡

I recently discovered your channel and love it! You've definitely inspired me to purchase that Natural History book and to try painting without drawing lines first! I'll be going through your older videos and look forward to your new ones! 😊 If you are ever interested in doing some kind of collaboration let me know!

Thank you so much, that's so lovely to hear! I really appreciate it 😊♥ The Natural History book is honestly so good, I hope you love it as much as I do! I find not having the lines and not sketching first can be scary when you first start it but I love the freedom and looseness it gives 😄

Katie would you be able to share the palette pad of paper you use? I’m so curious how the paint rests on top and doesn’t soak through and the appeal of not having a palette to wash is strong 😂 I also love your style, thank you so much for sharing these videos with us!

Thank you so much Joy, I'm so glad you enjoy my videos! And of course! 😊 This is the Daler Rowney tear-off palette for oils and acrylics (even though I don't use oil paints, I prefer using these for my gouache as they're a much thicker paper!) I used to be so bad at washing my palettes so these are perfect 🤣
