Paint With Me! A moody autumn spread in my sketchbook 🍂🧡

Hi all! It's so rainy and gloomy here but a perfect day to share this new paint with me with you all! I painted this moody autumnal spread using gouache in my mini sketchbook and had a lot of fun experimenting with texture again and usiny some art materials in a new way. I do love the dark moodiness of this. I really need to get some gouache and have a go with them! Or I've been thinking of trying watered down acrylics...

Thank you Gillian, it's so nice to go moody sometimes 😅 I dont know how the water down acrylics would layer but experiments are always interesting 😄 You'll have to share what you find!

The piece really came together, you nailed moody. Your process is so interesting to me, it's very bold, quick, and self assured! The half mixed pigments that melded together on the paper turned out just beautifully when dry, the orange especially 🍊

Aaah thank you ! That's so nice to hear - often I can overthink when I'm painting but sometimes I'm able to switch off (like this one) and just let the brush do the work. I was surprised at just how well this paper held up to the wet blending technique!

Thank you Katie, that was so inspirational, I have followed Sarah Burns for a while. She has used gouache for many years. So lovely to see how different you use it and combine so freely with other media.

I have a few derwent inktense and I didn’t realize they’re water soluble! I really want to try dipping them in water now that’s so fun!!

Thank you so much! When I first started using gouache I was trying to use it like I saw other artists did when it was very opaque and thick, and I got frustrated when mine didn't look as neat or polished! So then it seems I went completely the other way and do lots of layers instead 😅 Thank you so much for watching 💜
