  • Hi all! Today's video is all about finding inspiration in nature, and the art of noticing. I loved looking for colour on this late autumn walk and I think the sketchbook spread turned out really well! I hope you enjoy painting with me and seeing it come to life. Katie x

    Autumn is so inspiring for my artwork, who can resist Fall colors to paint! Especially here in Texas where summers are ridiculously hot and miserable so you try not to be outside as much as possible, so when autumn comes with cooler temps, I get to plein air paint as much as I want!

    I love your nature spreads, they're my favourite I think. I really admire your ability to paint so quickly and loosely but still make things so recognisable and also to arrange things so that you have such a lovely composition. I love your style.❤😊

    I was really hoping that the owl print would win for our Patreon print, but after seeing this video I'm happy to receive either one! You did a great job capturing the vibrancy of fall!!! ❤ Courtney

      Aw thanks Courtney! Last I checked the poll it was really close but I'd like to make the owls a print in the future either way! 💜

    Aah this was so beautiful and inspiring! I would love to go outside and find things to paint but it’s so hot in Malaysia. The urge is to just stay home under the AC! I wish we had colder seasons 😅

    I really enjoy your videos so much. I am primarily a watercolorist but I really like to get a depth of colour and vibrancy which I am learning is a bit more gouash-like. I lOVE how vibrant the watercolours in this video are - this might have to be a Christmas present in my future! Thank you for sharing 🧡

    So inspiring, love all the beautiful colors 😄🧡 Here in Norway it’s winter and snow everywhere, but this is a nice reminder to find inspiration in colorful things around me. I recently got one pan of gansai tambi watercolor in an advent calendar and I really enjoyed it. So creamy and rich in color, I really want to try a bigger set of colors and this video made me want to buy it even more. I just can’t decide which 24 set I want to get 😅

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much 😊 Sometimes we get snow here in England but usually not til February or March! Oh yes I love that you can get the Kuretake pans individually - I'd like to build up my set and add a few more! Choosing a main palette is definitely the hardest part 😆 Good luck!

    there is so much colour in the fall, people def dont always see it. and not just the leaves changing colour, the hills around here change to all kinds of colours, browns, purples, yellows, sometimes all of them 😀

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад

      Absolutely! That's so true, and I think the sunsets and the clouds in the sky are always spectacular that time of year too 😄

    Beautiful! So inspiring!! Katie, what is the difference between Luminance and Derwent colored pencils?

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад +1

      Thank you so much Luisa! I don't have a huge amount of Derwent drawing pencils to compare them to, but they're very similar! I'd say the Luminance are a little softer with their leads though and have a wider range of colours compared to Derwent 😊

    Katie, all of my round brushes have a very fine tip making it impossible to get the marks you're making on the pine cone - mine always look like sharp leaves! So I went to purchase the one you have and it also looks sharp. Do you think your have "dulled" down the tip because you've used them so much? I just want to know if I need to just be a little rougher with my brushes instead of trying to find the "right" one.

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад +1

      Hi Tristen! I've definitely used this brush for a good few years now so I imagine it's definitely softened a lot over that time! Plus when I do my big marks and create texture on other spreads I am not gentle with it at all 😅 I usually reach for this one the most so can't compare with other brushes but I think over time the bristles would soften on your brushes too!

    • @TristenMacDonald
      @TristenMacDonald Год назад +1

      Ok this is helpful. I'm SUPER delicate with my brushes - maybe it's time to let loose a bit. Thanks for your help!

    Hey, that berry on 1:29, who else pick them up, put on the ground and pop them with your feet? I mean, by stepping on it. We did that as a kids (I'm from Latvia))

    • @KatieMoody
      @KatieMoody  Год назад +1

      I do! I'd like to add a few more colours to my collection as this particular set has a few colours I miss but I'm really impressed with the opacity and consistency. No cons yet! Here's a video I first made about them when I'd just tried them out too 😊 ruclips.net/video/Ur-7vukk3Co/видео.html
