I had a chance to check this lens out at an exhibition recently. The AF seemed plenty fast in AF-C on my A6400. It wobbles and hunts a bit in AF-S. It reminds me of my Sigma 30 f1.4 DC DN lens. Good with AF-C and wobbly in AF-S.
I wonder how solidly weathersealed it is.
The Samyang 24 is not weathersealed. Deal breaker for me. The Sony 24 f2.8 G is very pricey compared to both. 😔
Thanks a lot for your detailed and practical review that is likely to be the best out there. I was looking at buying this lens as based on its specs it ticked all the boxes I had for a highly versatile travel lens.
Watching your video however, convinced me that I should not buy it, even though it has a tempting price point. The huge benefit of a macro capability, high IQ in a small, light and inexpensive package is ruined by the distortion problem and poor AF performance. I am just hoping that Tamron learns the lesson and upgrades this lens.
Would you know by any chance if the IBIS of the A7RV works better with this lens?

I recently buy this lens, and notice aperture sound when changing, specially when turning camera On/Off

At 199 its a no brainer. I could buy no name brand from China but I know what i'm getting with those. For novice photographers, its a good deal. Just want to take some great pics. Don' want to spend more than 200.
Does the barrel of this lens extend during autofocus?
