I have over 500 albums on cassette including several box sets. I can't afford to re-purchase them all on cd, plus, many of my cassette tapes are out-of-print rarities so, I still listen to them using several cassette players that I still own...including a Sony double cassette deck , a pair of original sony Walkmans and my trusted ol' Tascam 4-Track machine which I still use to record my original demo-tapes. There is something wonderful about the sound of analog tape...Can't exactly put it into words but, music on cassette is something special to my ears. I guess I'm just an old school dude. I very much can relate to the song "Analog Man" by the legendary Joe Walsh.

Maiden - Somewhere in Time ( I bought this new, and even back then I felt it didn't measure up except for Wasted Years (🤘), lately though I am liking it more, especially Deja Vu, Sea of Madness and Alexander...)

I think the first two Maiden albums are the best. It was sort of the opposite for me. I was first exposed to them with Bruce and although I loved their guitar work it was just never my style of singing so I dismissed a lot of their other work until I heard Strange World and was blown away. I know it's not a super popular opinion but I prefer the Di'Anno era hands down. Those first two albums are what I think of when I see that band logo and Eddie.

Death's Spiritual Healing is an overlooked album. It may be my favorite of theirs. His riff writing and vocals are absolutely brutal on that record and he finally got a lead guitar player in James Murphy which took him to another level. Schuldiner was one of the most talented men in the history of metal. He had it all. Hetfield/Mustaine get props for being the vocalist while writing all those killer riffs but Chuck was even more of the full package. He had all that plus he could actually shred the leads just as well or even better than his hired gun.

It's not like she's wearing a metallica or iron maiden tee where they're easily accessible and don't know the real reason why they're even wearing them. The fakers have no clue who Randy Rhoads even is and you know she had to go out of her way to get such a thing. That's what would make her stand out from any other good looking girl.

Another great show by The Squares with my thanks to all for another entertaining show. And a special thanks and welcome to Kurdt Vanderhoof for joining the chaos. The milk carton sharing from Pete was great but Chris' closing thought wins the day! The first two that come to my mind follow. Number one is Idlewild South by The Allman Brothers Band. Even with some great songs, their debut still held my attention with required and almost non-stop listening. Then by the time that wore out, the Fillmore double live album was issued and on near-daily play. So Idelwild South lingered in my record cabinet for several years and I didn't revisit it much until about 10 years later. Of course, it has become a top-notch on my Allmans and southern rock playlists. The second one is Elton John 's Rock Of The Westies. It just seemed at the time that Elton was issuing too much too soon and this one sat aside for awhile until several years later I went back to listen to my 'older' Elton albums. And I guess my Elton fatigue was gone as I now love this album. Thanks again to Kurdt, Lynne, Chris, Butch, Nick, Sydney, Steve, Ryan and especially Pete for serving as Ringmaster for this must-see episode. I Love Cheese Steak!

Danzig 4 is a great pick. I've always loved it but it seems to fly under the radar. He still had the original crew behind him. I just always hear about the first 3 and then how he dropped off. There are a few songs like Brand New God and Bringer Of Death that are imo right up there with anything else he's ever done. That record has an eerie feel to it all. I think the fact that his future industrial sound creeped in on a few songs may have left a bad taste with some people but I still have it right up there with the previous material. Danzig was great in his first four ironically like Metallica and then imo he went off the rails

None of the songs were ever overplayed but every one of them are good. The entire album is consistent. I used to make tapes and cds of all the Brian era material but only put songs on that flew under the radio. 1. Scorpions- Pure Instinct and Humanity: Hour I- Been a Scorpions fan since I was a kid (pretty much all eras of the band) but I never knew the Humanity album even existed until a couple of years ago, and I love how heavy and contemporary it is while maintaining essence... Pure Instinct I might have just lumped with Eye to Eye, only to find out that it's closer to previous stuff than I thought. Pretty melodic, still riffy and with great solos from Matthias...
    2. Type O Negative- Bloody Kisses- I had always been kind of aware of this band but never really listened to them... A girl I was with was jamming Summer Breeze and since then I've enjoyed all their stuff...
    3. America- 1971 debut- This band went completely under the radar for me until one of my students was playing A Horse with No Name... It's exactly the kind of music I would have taken for granted when I was younger, but the album is brilliant all the way to the end. Sandman is epic...
    4. Winger- Pull- Winger has been one of my favorite bands for a while and their discography as a whole has grown on me in the past seven years or so, but I actually procrastinated this album for a bit fearing it might be another grungy mediocre 90s album from an 80s band... While it's still not one of my favorites, I'm glad to say I was wrong and it's pretty solid.
    5. Twisted Sister- Love is for Suckers- Even though I like a lot of stuff in a similar vein, I used to think this more glam-ish sound didn't fit TS at all and that it was another forced attempt to capitalize on what was going on at the time and milk the corporate cow... But I actually kind of like it now; it's pretty catchy and a lot better than the lackluster album that came before it... Fun fact: Reb from Winger also plays a few leads on this album...

Oooo great topic, I think there are always albums that just fly under our radar when we get into bands. Some bands have big discographys too, so when you get into the band it can be overwhelming at first so you pick and choose albums and maybe "the sound" of an album doesn't click at first so you discard it, come back to it years later, and love it.
First album that comes to mind is "Overnight Sensation" by Motorhead.
I love Motorhead, one of my all time favourite bands but they have such a huge discography that it can be easy I think for a fan to overlook albums at first. When I was younger, I just wanted to listen to "Inferno" (still my favourite Motorhead record), "Ace of Spades" or "Bastards."When I got into my twenties, I purposefully went into their discography to give each of their records a chance and the biggest surprise for me was "Overnight Sensation." At least two of my favourite Motorhead tracks are on this record, with those songs being "Love Can't Buy You Money" and "Crazy Like A Fox," the latter is a top five Motorhead song for me. Those songs hooked me immediately to this album and to this day is a favourite album for me from this band.
    I miss Motorhead.
Second pick for me is "Blind" by Corrosion of Conformity.
My older brother adores this band and while I do like them, I certainly don't enjoy them as much as he does. I love "In The Arms of God," which is my favourite record from them, but until 2015 I really only ever played two albums from this band, those being the aforementioned "...Arms of God" and the other being "America's Volume Dealer." Played those to death, but while I was on holiday in the United States, I was going through Texas and I decided to give "Blind" a full listen without skipping or changing songs, it was a great decision. A light bulb went off for me and when I got home I continued to check out their catalogue, though I'm not big on their output from the 1980's, just doesn't hit me in any way.
I'll do one more and this album is "Sin After Sin" from Judas Priest.
"Painkiller" is my favourite Judas Priest record, "Hellion/Electric Eye" is my favourite Priest song. I have been into Priest since I was around twelve when I first heard "You've Got Another Thing Comin'," but their pre-British Steel records weren't something that I was listening too when I was a child, assuming that I wouldn't like them. I had no basis for that but I thought that, what a terrible thought hahaha. "Sin After Sin" is a top five Priest record for me, holy shit do I love this album. I got into this album in my early twenties, about a decade after first enjoying this band, and better late than never !

Rainbow - Bent Out of Shape. I was tired of the Joe Lynn Turner era by the time this came out and I didn't really give it the listening time I should have. There is some great tunes here and the production is outstanding. Blackmore's tone is angry and glorious.
Aerosmith - Nine Lives. I am a massive longtime Aerosmith fan from the release of their first album but I haven't really liked too much past "Rock in a Hard Place". I wasn't into "Pump" or "Get a Grip" but bought "Nine Lives' and for some reason it just connected. It is the only of their "later' albums that I listen to.
Dio - Master of the Moon. I didn't like this upon first, second or third listening. But because I love Dio so much I went back years later and now I am much more into it. It's not "Last In Line" by any measure but there are still some amazing Dioisms all over it.
Michael Schenker Group - Built To Destroy. After falling completely in love with the first three albums and really loving Assault Attack, Built To Destroy seemed like a huge let down. Again, after years of not listening to it I reconnected with it and there is some really great stuff on it.
Rush - Vapor Trails. Unlistenable when it was released. The sound was horrible...embarrassing for a top shelf national touring band. It was beyond awful. So I shelved it and didn't touch it until the remix/remaster came out and wow it became an entirely new album. It won't compete with Hemispheres anytime soon but it can stand on its own now!
Stryper - Against the Law. When this came out I was a huge fan. I got the "Yellow and Black Attack" around its release and loved "Soldiers Under Command" and "To Hell With the Devil". I wasn't as big a fan of "In God We Trust" so by the time "Against the Law" was released I only paid it lip service. What a mistake that was. It crushes! Very heavy, freight train weight production and some of the most badass singing you will ever hear. A killer album!
Great show...love how much fun everyone is having. I am jealous. I would love to be apart of something great like this! All the best!

I have been watching content on this channel for at least three years and this past year has easily been the best one yet. It has become my favorite channel out of all the ones I listen to. My three albums that I did not really care for when they first came out but I love now are.
Yngwie Malmsteen - Fire And Ice
    Accept- Objection Overruled
    Iron Maiden- The X Factor

On the first part, I talked about albums in my collection that took years for me to appreciate. On this part, I talk about some albums I overlooked, and didn't own at first, but now love:
David Bowie - Blackstar (Ignored this, and most of Bowie's late-period material for years, because of attention given to other artists. Rectified that.)
Magma - Zess (After Pete made me laugh my ASS off during a video review of this album, I picked it up, along with a couple other Magma albums that I didn't know they released. I lost touch with this band for years, due to a busy music schedule.)
Extreme - Their whole catalogue (Knew who they were for years, but thanks to Pete's Ranking the Studio Albums video for this band, bought their whole catalogue, and became a fan.)

I've always felt that SIGNALS is a stone-cold masterpiece. Not a bad track on it, solid AF from front-to-back.
