Had mine for over 10 years, it is the one Tool option for the woods. It can do anything, use it all the time for processing fire wood.

You are absolutely correct about tools - "one tool option" is now ubiquitous but a spurious concept based on survivalist fantasies where one is stranded and just happens to have this "one tool" to hand. What you are saying is Platonic philosophy in action a thing participates in the form of what it is - hence a knife is not an axe because the form and therefore the function (the participation in that form) is different. Good stuff! Perhaps more pertinant would be the commonalities and differences between a knife and parang or machete.

Yes. Not sure why this philosophy of use of tools escapes some people. I always have a large chopper like the BK9, RD9 or SP51 on my pack for backpacking.

your customization decisions make for a beautiful piece of tool. the tip appears more aggressive than the average bk9. you've introduced me to osage orange, its beautiful. Ive heard of it, buy never seen it. it's lovely.
it is what it is, but carrying a knife like this makes people think you are crazy. I despise that judgement. human beings have survived to this moment because there are tools like this for them to use. for that reason I would be cautious as to where I bear this tool.
with the bk9, in the wilderness one would die due to lack of knowledge rather than a lack of tools (hyperbole, but you get the point)
haha, oh shit, you said this after I wrote it. haha

That is some real cool modding. Question, does 1095 not rust easily without the coating?

Generally a knife that is used often in heavy applications, like this knife, tends to abrade rust off quite readily. I do not force patinas and I live in a pretty wet environment and rarely have any issues. Thanks for watching!

Use a thin coating of vaseline on the blade. It wont rust. Use the knife, clean it, protect it. It wont rust.

If Im going to the woods, I've got a large knife, small folder, and an axe or hatchet. They're NOT that heavy.

There is a reason why in every culture European cultures included large knives were used.
