I was going to go this route and replace the scales and get a sheet for it but I changed my mind and now I'm getting an esee 6 and I run that with a tomahawk
I just got one yesterday, so my obvious first response is the shaving test. The hairs disappeared under mijimal force even my shaving razor struggled with.
I have several Beckers (3, 5, 7, 9) and the first thing I do is replace the scales. I recommend the VZ grips G10 scales for the BK9, they counter the weight better than the Architect scales and give a solid purchase as well as being easier to install since they use the original hardware. A decent kydex sheath like those from A Z Welke are also a must to replace those shitty nylon sheaths everyone uses.
Own one, luv it but it's far too big and heavy for Ka-bar to be marketing it as a combat bowie. The BK 7 is better for that role. This beast is a survival knife.
I remember buying my first one in 2015, moron buddy said you got ripped off that's a rubber trainer knife lol. I chopped down 4 bamboo trees in one swing laughed and said (Rubber don't cut 1095 steel Cuts)
Yes, the grip material is slippery. But the profile of the handle is very good, so the grip is comfortable and secure at the end. If we are talking about a dry hand. I'm afraid things may change in wet conditions, but I haven't tried it yet, so I can't say anything.
@@ravingbadger the tang is fine dude, the bk9 is a tank and the full, unadulterated tang meme has become really bad over the years. You really just have to worry about skeleton tang right behind the scales and maybe not overly abuse stick-tang knives, but that is a solid tang design in the bk9, and preferable tbqh. So long as a tang is 3/4 or longer and doesn't narrow early or isn't skeletonized directly behind the handle, whatever knife it is can be abused pretty damned hard. That aside it's just 1095 steel and they don't give you any special fit or finish with the scales and a really shitty sheath so that's why I never bothered to get one.
@@escapetherace1943 got u, thanks for the information - i'm just 1 year in the knife world. the skrama is my go to atm for the bigger blade applications, i was tainted from the start and got me an fällkniven a1x and i didn't want to use it so i sold it for more than i payed. the bk 9 would be even more expensive with less value i think and i don't know ka-bars warranty.
Looks like something Walmart outdoors products, and ka-bar said we will take 300k worth so we can can brand them and up charge for the same crap lol I'll stick to my micarta m390 bowie.
Ka-bar makes quality knives on par with ESEE and TOPS. I can chop cinder blocks and still slice paper. You can stab it into wood and stand on it. M390 is nice for a pocket knife, I've got a ton, but none will touch steel. I will can-opener a car with my BK9. So yeah, different purpose of use.
Hell yeah!
What a beautiful blade!
Have you ever wanted to tactically dice you kitchen consumables to bit?
Well now you can!
I have a Ka-Bar… it’s the best kitchen knife I’ve ever had.
My favorite knife ever in the size range
Ka-bars are the best period.
Wow very sharp👍👍👍
Becker Knife and Tool is an old knife company in NY bought by Kabar. The BKs are solid survival and fighting knives.
Thanks for showing us this,,, I want one, 👍
I like how they include stickers

The size is really look like perfect shape of leon's knife from the OG RE4
i love BK9
I love mine
Love at 1st site.. ❤️.
One of the most awesome knives with the world's loudest sheath

very nice kitchen knife
oi
I hear you can tell just how cool a knife is by whether 40% of demonstration time is taken up by showing you how to open its box.
Ao original ✅ 🎉
Ka Bar я люблю эти ножи.
I'd like one with an uncoated blade and I'd think about making some wooden scales for it. 😮
I'm plannig to swap scales. So far can't find anything interesting😒
@Luk_at_mi Not hard to do. Any knife making supplier can help you out, with all manner of handle scales.
@@Luk_at_me
BKT makes a set of brown Micarta scales for these, I believe.
I know you said wood, but I got some g10 scales from the knife connection for my bk7 and they're great
You can just use some epoxy remover for the finish, but whats underneath isnt so pretty.
nice knife, cheezy sheath.
От это нож для окопа, для солдата
I didn't get a sticker with my BK9 😢

Handle looks like it will be slippery, needs a very strong grip to use safety??

Hate the handle
hurts to see that the sheath is made in china...this knife costs 180€ in europe and the micarta scales are 65€
it's overpriced, used to be cheaper
but the sheath is complete garbage
@@escapetherace1943 so custom kydex on top for 80€ minimum..i saw the skeletonized tang and lost interest

Made in China??? in my country they advertise it as made in USA!!! Wtf?!
Knife is made in US and sheath in China.
@@Luk_at_me thank You 👍
Have a bk9 with the knife connection g10 scales and kydex sheath I'll trade for a bk7
That’s a nice kitchen knife😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
You’ll do your self more harm with that than anything else😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
Неудачная модель
Over rated and overpriced. There are better comparable knives in the same price bracket.
Name a few please.
