  • As I gain experience with fixed blades, and through the recommendation of fellow RUclips personalities, such as Chris Tanner of Preparedmind 101, I finally bought my own Becker BK7 and BK9. I had been listening to years of talk about "Jessica" and "Becky", and with one of my favorite RUclips channel hosts talking so highly about these blades, I needed to give them a feel for myself.

I have both the 7 and 9 and love them both. I even like the factory sheaths for both. The only thing I don't like are the "80 grit" sandpaper-like coatings on them so they both got the Jasco treatment and an oil rubdown. They are perfect heavy duty, tough use blades that sharpen easily and cut like a monster. The BK9 chops like a hatchet and is lighter. 2 badass blades!

I would say the BK7 is definitely on my Top 10 for sure. The BK9 is also amazing, but for me it exceeds my "go to" blade size. Now don't get me wrong...I love a large blade, but 90% of the time I have a blade in the 4-7" range for camp chores.

Thanks! I honestly got kinda lucky. I generally buy most of my gear from eBay. I have a general list of items that I know the going price on. As I keep an eye out for the specific items I like, if I see it for a price I'm willing to pay, I grab it if I can win the bid. These happen to be two items I bought back-to-back while I was on a Becker kick...just so happened they came decked out. The BK9 came complete as you see it. The BK7 had the original handle scales as you see in this video, but I've since stripped the coating and added aftermarket handles to it.
The BK9 sheath is a "710 Custom" sheath, and the BK7 sheath is a "AZWELKE" Custom sheath. You can google search both those guys and get info about their products.
Thanks for checking out my channel! I appreciate it...hope that helped!!

I do not wrap my handles. I guess I'm not a big believer in doing that...rather I try to get used to how a knife feels and adapt to it depending on how it works for me. I might try it sometime.

hello man! liked your video, was pretty interesting !!! I'm gonna to buy one of them, which one would you recommend? if you got rag time think out any challenge for these knives and show us how they are working, tell us weak and strong points, thank you beforehand

    • @outerlimitless

I'm really impressed with both. I guess it depends on if you have other blades to complement. if none other, bk7, but if you have a companion, bk9.

I have both the bk7 & bk9. They are both great blades without breaking the bank. Good luck on your channel. As for comments, anyone that's experienced willing to give you good information, and, constructive criticism, file it in the memory bank, then, check it out. Anyone that just wants to boast how smart they are, and, how stupid you are, file them in the memory bank titled, assholes that are too stupid to know they're stupid. Then, burn that memory bank. While starting out you'll be borrowing things from all kinds of people. After awhile you'll know what to keep, and, what to 86. Good luck.

Thanks man! Yes, the BK's are wonderful. I've had great luck with them. The channel is going well. That BK video was my very first video that I posted...and now I have over 170 vids posted. It's been a blast, and dealing with the people and comments, etc has been overall positive. Some people think they're king...whatever...many people wouldn't even be willing to put themselves out there for the criticism. I might expose myself, but I hope over time I can back up my channel with experience.
      Thanks for watching!

I have a BK7, and love it!! Don’t carry an axe or bucksaw. I find all I need is a '7' and a folding saw. Those two do all my camp and bushcraft tasks. Of course, that’s just my opinion. I'd like a Kydex sheath for my 7. Where did you pick yours up??

    • @outerlimitless

I have a few videos using the BK7. It is a knife that deserves to be shown and compared over and over. You might be interested in one of my videos comparing the BK7, ESEE 6, and TFK T17...it's a 3 part series going through a comprehensive test processing wood. The BK7 is definitely a performer!! I bought mine used on eBay...with the kydex. I forget what I paid.

What is the blade width of the bk7 in centimeters?

    • @outerlimitless

Bk process you don't need to spend an arm and a leg for great working knives. So many buy knives to collect dust afraid to use them. Every knife I buy I use. Bte, the sheaths cost more than the knives!

Say Heah, I teamed my BK-7 with my BK-17, and my BK-9 with my BK-10 I also can neck carry my BK-14 with these combos. Great Knives, I like the CroVan steel alot because it's the same the CarbonV Knives were made of, I got my info here zknives.com, But I got very lucky and I was the last to by my Limited Edition where I bought my knives from. The Limited Edition came with the BK-4and the BK-5 which are discontinued, so if you could still get them, They will be collectable, Great Knives on their own, But the Premiere Bundok BK-20, Makes the BK-9 Pewnie, It simply dwarfs it. Don't get me wrong, The BK-9 and my BK-7 are some of my Fav's. ,, .

How come the tangs have holes worse than Swiss cheese.. take off the handles

    • @outerlimitless
      @outerlimitless  5 лет назад

That's an important feature...that is how you get balance...if no holes, the knife would be handle heavy and lose chopping power. Balance is very carefully engineered and the exact mass to remove from the handle is determined as a design consideration.
