Becker BK7 Long Term Review

- In this video I review the famous Becker Knife and Tool BK 7 combat knife. I have had this knife for a long time since I was still young in the Marines, roughly 10 years now. This knife has proven tried and true to me and is the standard I hold most other knives to. I originally carried a USMC Kabar but I wanted something much more robust, this was the knife I chose, which also lead me to my fascination with more knives and bushcraft in general.

There are knives, then there are the KNIFE. Bk7
The BK7 has been one of my long time favorites
I recently received a Becker bk 7 in the post! I love it! Great video!
Hey thank you
I just ordered my BK7 yesterday! I did a lot of research and found that this is going to be a very awesome knife! I can't wait to hold in my hand!
It’s an awesome knife. I do like putting micarta scales and a Kydex sheath on it but that’s kind of fun to customize it
I'm planning on buying a leather sheath with survival pockets for my altoid tin .
@@jasonwoodard8132 that would be cool too
It's been my go to for years now. I put a 90 degree spine and ground the thumb ramp off on mine so I agree it is a perfect knife to personalize.
It is for sure. Thanks for watching
Good BK7 review thanks! I got one last year great knife. I enjoyed your chopping and tactical portions of the vid especially, shows what a beast this thing is in the right hands.
Very cool looking knife, love the attitude readjusting pommel.
It’s one of my funny things I like doing on my videos
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors I’ve been enjoying them brother. Keep the faith. Remember who our enemy is.
Once you get a good set of handles it's a really well made knife. The stock handles aren't the worst, but I tend to lose all grip when my hands get damp or sweaty. That said the blade itself is excellent. Not the best on the market, but for the money I think it's definitely a worth it purchase IMO.
I just stipple them. It's much cheaper, and does wonders for them. Night and day difference.
Excellent video bud enjoyed it very much 👍
Thank you so much, I appreciate that
Excellent review and you're 100% right about modifying the knife! My mods consisted of new G-10 scales and Kydex sheath. Now it's perfect for me... And again, great video too!!!
Thank you buddy
I fell in love with the Becker knives. Just recently bought a Bk2, loved it so much I went ahead and ordered a Bk10. Now I want the 7 and 9.😂 Can't do it right now and might skip the 7 because I already have an Esse 6 for that size. That polished blade looks amazing and calling that nub an attitude readjustment tool is some straight Marine shit.
Thank you
That's is a best Knife 🔪 to me...
It is. I love my BK7
Had a BK7 for years. Epic blade and I utterly trust it.
It’s one of the greats
Good review outstanding just got one I'm a kabar guy I am impressed 45 yrs of knives this is impressive
Awesome and thank you
I hated the thumb ramp, so I took it off. I hated the coating, so I took it off. I hated how slippery the scales were, so I stippled them. Now I love the knife. And the big brother BK9. Now I just need to make better sheaths for both. Good to see a long term review instead of just chopping a couple of branches like most reviewers.
Like I said I had this one for like 10 years, I've used the crap out of it and I have fun just tricking out a becker. Thanks for watching
Wish I would have bought the 7 over my bk9. Have a kydex sheath plus knife connection g10 scales on my 9. But would rather the 7.
I like them both, I also like the kabar micarta scales over the g10 but that’s just me. I will say the bk7 is more preferred but best to have them both
11:14 . . .👍🏽‼️
The Becker BK7: the knife by which all others are compared.
I still compare every other medium size knife to the bk7
I went with the g10 scales vs micarta. Micarta soaks up bacteria and microbes. Stripped the blade, but left the coating on the handle portion. Extra protection. Plus, upgraded the hardware to nylock stainless steel screws with red loctite.👍
Sounds like a solid combo
Germs flee at the sight of my BK7 !
I added a choil to mine, big improvement.
Choils are something that some like, some don’t. I have a love/hate thing for them. Some knives I like it, others I don’t. I like my BK7 as is. That said I’m glad you like it
Also if you take some 400grit sandpaper to the rough finish its like cerakoating it
Where did you get the belt clip portion that steps down over the high part of the sheath. You said it was an ESEE but I can't find it.
Look on the knife connection
I prefer a SP5. I don’t like how Becker sells a knife for top dollar. Then charges money for a decent sheath and grips. The Ontario cost $44 even buying a sheath I’m still way under Becker price. My other most used knife is Kabar cutless machete.
Really 99.9 % of my tasks in the woods are done with my Mora Garberg I got it on sale for$55. The other knife I use is Hultafor ok4 best $20 ever.
Really I prefer a machete for chopping I don’t chop much that’s more like a RUclips thing . A saw makes things much easier.
I find it depends on where/what if I chop or saw. Obviously a saw is best when you can but I’ve had situations where I do have to chop it down. That said I almost always use an axe if I have one. For the knife I like testing potential. The SP5 looks good for the money
The Sp5 is an excellent knife. Mine fits perfectly into a marbles trailmaker sheath. You might be able to find those online relatively inexpensively.
The only thing I don't really like about the Beckers compared to esee 6 is the look and skeleton handle. The choil not being on a Becker doesn't bother me too much. The Becker is a way better batoner and stabber.
They really are two different kind of knives. The becker is geared being a combat/survival knife while the esee 6 is more of a dedicated survival knife. the skeletonized tang does help it feel a bit better balanced and I've never seen anyone with with structural issues.
I think I will go with the BK7 vs the Falkniven A1 . I think the BK7 can do everything the A1 can do and looks way cooler! The Micarta scales soak up fluids vs G10?Micarta better? Thanks
The bk7 is super awesome for sure. I personally like micarta more than g10 generally
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors Thanks, maybe well see Ka Bar change the BK7 over to the S35vn steel like the BK2! Not that it needs it but an excuse to buy another knife.
@@rainsong7327 I would love to see kabar upgrade the steel but I personally think s35vn isn’t the right choice. I think they need to go with CPM3V, or 52100, or 80crv2. Something more durable personally
Was your knife painted green at one point in the video? It looked green in some angles, maybe it was just a reflection though.
Yes it was, I had it duracoated OD green, I couldn’t have a polished knife in the marines
@@thelasthuntsmanoutdoors Cool. How did it hold up and was it worth doing again?
@@amc31b it held up really good honestly
Dude
Yea I know

Work Tuff Gear Wilderness Warrior Gen2
I’d like to try one
Obviously its a tried and true and very capable multi purpose knife. However...what I don't like about it is that it seems light and too big for common uses. For a chopper I want it beefy and hefty, like a Junglass. For a bushcrafter or skinner, I want it small and compact. The BK7 is neither. It could do all, but do none very well.
It’s a great size for that reason. Having a Junglas on your belt especially if you going full gear and kit is awkward. This is still very capable but still manageable on your belt
Lots of people trash talk 1095. But there are so many videos with 1095 handling major abuse. Meanwhile, most "supersteel" loving enthusiasts just show their supersteel knives fresh out of the box and refuse to abuse them in any way.
I like a super steel but that said I’m not going to discount a good ole carbon steel that’s been around for decades or hundreds of years either. I personally like 1095 when it’s done right
A well heat treated 1095 is the average mans super steel. For the price you really can't beat it.
