- Hey everyone! This is my third time making a Notability vs. GoodNotes 5 comparison video, and since I just graduated form College it may also be my final one. Because of this, I wanted to go as in depth as I possibly could and compare these two note taking applications to find out which is truly better.

My man just did a more than one hour video comparing 2 notetaking apps while not even having that big of a channel. Notability have just released a new version v14. It's excellent. Best of all for me with having the Classic version is we have been fully upgraded with the Ruler, Favourite notes, Seasons Skins, Stickers etc. But not the Math text conversion. Keep up the great work Nathan.

Notability has a search icon on the subject/divider screen view. You can also search hand-written words.

Notability just had an update which has got rid of the favourites bar and its kind of ruined my life. theres been a few other changes which are all just for aesthetics but have ruined the functionality! I'm so disappointed and now im going to have to try GN5. Thanks for the video this has helped me!

I am a Notability user (not subscription) as I brought many of the add on s before it went subscription. As a maths teacher I like the dashed lines on Notability and turning maths into math using the conversion tool but you do need to know some latex for post editing. Thanks.

I badly wanted to use notability, but they lack the most simple feature I love from GN5 which is automatically straightening highlights/lines without holding it first. I read and highlight so much that I need that convenience/ease while studying.
I actually find the hold and straighten useful! it gives me time to read the text again
@@feixuzou you can do both hold or automatic on GN5. I just wish notability has the option to auto straighten bc if they do, I'd prob be using it more than GN5.

Just so you know you actually can search your writing in notability, but I’m also in the boat of being grandfathered in on notability, personally I prefer it but if I wasn’t grandfathered in I would absolutely choose goodnotes. Really good video thanks for taking the time for such an in-depth informative comparison:)
Can you search content on an uploaded pdf in notability?
Notability just gone to v14. Us grandfathered users just got it all upgraded except for Math conversion.

Hi Nathan! As GN6 is out rn, which one would u recommend to be worth it to buy? Also as GN6 releases on sep 9th, would u recommend me to buy GN5 as it is lifetime and then if I don’t prefer it I can always switch to Notability and have my GN5 too? thanks for the intuitive video btw ❤

GN5 and Procreate are the best things I’ve ever spent money on! Very disappointed with their backflip on pricing for GN6 though.

Excellent tips. What is the default file format for Notability file? Is is a doc and can it be exported to Word flawlessly?
I playing with Noteability at the moment and I find handwriting pretty cool, when finished can I turn the handwriting notes to text

also what would you recommend air 5 m1 or ipad pro m2 , purpose note taking and maybe in future id edit videos in them (start yt channel) i am from india so price diff is a lot in both of those and i dnt want to extend my budget but if its necessary i will. Hello brother, please note that, we have also such function in Notability in both ways. You can search text as well as handwritings. You can use it with two way. First: you can use it through dashboard. Second: you can use it through document bar.

Notability’s latest update (July 2023) has just about broken the viewing experience with this really annoying floating tool bar when working on a PDF document. Having been a long time Notability user I am now looking at switching to GoodNotes …
I’ve been hearing about this awful update 😭 haven’t had a chance to check it out just yet, but it seems I made the right recommendation with GN5 😂
You make the point that Notability has helped you succeed with your university studies. Therefore, I would consider the $14.99 yearly subscription charge a worthwhile investment if it means graduating successfully and going on to a high paying career. After all, we are only talking the cost of a few coffees per year.

Would you recommend a iPad for high school students (mostly only for seniors) I’m thinking about getting one so I don’t have to worry about wasting paper plus the iPad is expensive so what college for nursing can give you a iPad
If you can afford it, I do recommend an iPad even for highschool! And you don’t need to get the Pro or even an Air. The base 9th Gen iPad is perfect for note taking and any other school needs. The other iPads just give you extra features that are nice but not necessary!
