Chain link separators are not expensive at all. And you don't have to weld a new handle on everytime you want to change tip sizes....just buy it. If you already have a welder, and work on chains often enough to bother having a tool, and not just using a punch, just buy the tool.
1.chains have hardened steel, you really think a bolt that was grindes down is harder than the chain. 2.once he removed the chain U can see he drill it out.
Good idea if the chain cooperates. My chain pins were harder than my Cycle Gear Chain Tool and it deformed the pin of the tool without moving the chain pin. Went to a high quality chain breaker.
I could only see this working in small chains. The heavier the chain the more force it’s going to take to pop that link out and you’re going to end up bending that tool.
That’s a tool you will use once and next time you take it out it’s so rusted you won’t be able to use it Then you gotta either make another spend 20min cleaning rust and getting it lose Just buy the right tool for 10 bucks and it won’t rust on you
Bro you can buy one cheaper then making one. They sell for like 10 bucks on Amazon. You need steel tube and a welder with gases as well as a tool. I can't see this saving any money
Thoes cheep tools you can get look like they will do a good job I've had 3 of them 2 were from bell and another one was from some weird company but not one broke the chain 2 broke that little pin and the other one broke where the chain got pressed up against
