Im sure many people here already know but you guys are the rare reactor that actually do and can analyze and discuss more difficult plot.

They do take note, and surprisingly don’t pause at every sentences to craft too many theories out of context until it’s too convoluted and forgetting some established information

@@Adirbal She kinda remind me of Sheera from Yaboiroshi, so much that Sheera was accused of reading the manga or being secretly the author(lol) but then again sometimes she would be WAY off the mark lol.
give it up for ben too though. his thoughts on how narratively a character like maomao would reciprocate affection before and after this episode are nothing short of brilliance

Y’all are asking REALLY good questions here - and if Loulan and Lakan have one thing in common, it’s how hard it is to tell what they’re after, and how uncomfortable they make viewers feel as a result. Especially since, as you’ve said, there’s been so many variations on the idea of men plucking “flowers” from one of the two gardens - Fuyou reciprocating, planning a long con to keep the Emperor away, and eventually getting her happy ending; all the talk about the hairpins as a means for palace women to ~rendezvous~ with men outside; the merchant’s failson who got poisoned when he screwed over one courtesan too many; Jinshi buying out Maomao for reasons she doesn’t seem to fully recognize (and may not want to).
Love makes the world go round. Unfortunately, it seems Maomao gets motion sickness. (At least she’s used to throwing up.)
I heard the "force myself" was a translation error and it's closer to "spend the night with"
Lacan's line in Japanese is "I wanted to push her down," so I don't think it's a mistranslation.🙂
That “force myself” line is one that comes across very differently in different translations. Here’s how it’s rendered in the official English translations of other versions:
LN: “Ah, what I wouldn't have given to take her to bed.”
Manga: “And I thought I'd like to some day have my way with her.”
So it’s clear that he wanted her, but it’s less clear how far he was seriously considering going.

今回のエピソードを見たベンの言った最初の感想として、「体をまだ1度も売っていないことで値段がどんどん膨れ上がっていく妓女を手に入れるために汚い手段を使って価値を下げたんですよ」と豪語したラカンのことを「気持ち悪い」とはっきり表現したベンの優しい心が素敵です。
「もし妊娠させて価値を下げたのなら、なぜラカンはあの妓女と今結婚していない状態なのですか？もういらないのですか？」というベンの意見と、私も同じことを考えました。
今分かっている情報の中に、踏みにじられたかもしれない女性がいて、そこに生まれた子供がいます。
行き場のない女性に地獄のような苦悩を強いたラカンに対して、率直に嫌悪感を示したベンの優しさが好きです。
私はラカンがどんな人物なのかはどうでもいいです。その妓女の絶望とその娘の寂しさはどれほどだったのでしょう。

A correction about the nephew business: Lakan didn't take in his nephew, he IS the nephew that was taken in.

***Spoiler*** part of this show I don't like is how misleading they were with Lackan. Some of the lines implying or stating what happened were just straight up lies or wrong, seemingly all to just do a "nevermind" at the end. Forced twist. Still a good show, but a lot of those lines are so cheap
Right now, yeah Lakan looks bad. But layer you may end up liking him-or at least you won't hate him as much.
And this is why they don't read the comments. People like you just can't keep their mouths shut.
