Jared this is hands down the best review I’ve seen of the R6 so far. Thanks so much for this, it’s literally put me at ease about having chosen the R6 which I currently have on lay-away. In all honesty though, I’ve spent the last 3 years shooting on a Canon 600D (Rebel T3i I think), so I’m expecting to be totally blown away by the R6 when I finally pay it off regardless. Again, thanks so much for the content you make. Huge fan and love watching your videos.
Exactly what I, and I'm sure many others, needed to make an informed buying decision. No BS, just a fact based, real world review of the capabilities. Thanks!
I had the opportunity to jump from Nikon to any other brand I wanted. I’ve made the decision to get the R5. I have a feeling I’m going to really enjoy it.
I absolutely love the R6. I just picked one up last month as an upgrade from the RP. And as I tell everyone who asks, yes, it absolutely lives up to the hype. It is an absolutely incredible camera for what I do, which is a little bit of everything. Now I just need to start saving up my nickels so I can pick up some of that sweet RF glass.
Fro, this was a comprehensive ass review! Great portraits, and great example photos. Video and review were very well organized and delivered. It was nice to be a part of the fair with you and part of your R6 experience👌. I was engaged the entire time. If there was third party glass, I'd probably have switched BACK to canon from sony...but like you said, that third party glass offers nice inexpensive options. Nice work dude
Yeah man, really felt like I spent the day with you and the 100 to 500mm. Loved watching you shoot with that lense, and then see the beautiful results and portraits. I plan to make some popcorn and watch it again! A solid production and one of the best real world reviews on RUclips. It was like watching a movie! I can not commend you enough Jared👏👏👏
There are people who systemically dislike every video they come across just to troll people. There are people newer in their following who always, ALWAYS get a dislike early on after posting a video and rant about it. I just don't know why someone would troll people with that. It does affect people's reach…
Jared, what a great, thorough review! Had I not already purchased an R6 a couple of months ago, this video would've convinced me to get one. As it is I share your enthusiasm about the camera and absolutely love it! Thank you for an excellent video!
It was around 9:30pm when i noticed the video. As my kids do get up early i wanted to go to bed.... but i absolutely had to watch this right now! I already own an R6 since December and am blown away alone by the face and eyedetect AF. Very nice review, appreciate the work you put into these. I looked up the 100-500 but it’s “a bit” pricey for me 😜 Greetings from Germany, stay healthy.
Really enjoyed the video, and yes, I watched all the way to the end. The R6 takes great photos. I've had my R6 for about 4 months, only own EF glass, and I am amazed at the quality of my photos--even at high ISO. THX for taking the time to do this in depth video.
100% agree that the Q menu needs some custom options and being able to back up and transfer custom settings from body to body would be nice. Great review Jared, Stephen and Dan. Great to see Canon and Sony are really pushing each other. #Igotthisfar

Just finished watching THE WHOLE THING!!! Fantastic job! I currently have a 6D Mkii and an EOS R. I’m going to upgrade and I am finally going for the R6. You’ve sold me. Thank you!
Been waiting to get this camera since it came out. Almost ready to pull the trigger and retire the 7Dmkii for it now after your review. Watched the video while editing pics. Really appreciate you and your guys hard work in doing these videos. I'm sure it somewhat thankless at times but I sure find them great. #madeitthisfar
FWIW since I bought an R6 in September, I haven't touched my 7D Mark II at all. The R6 is so much better in every way, from shutter burst to video to eye AF to IBIS to low light performance (better than my 5D Mark IV!), even image quality.
@@JohnDrummondPhoto Appreciate that input! I feel pretty confident that it will be a noticeably better camera even with my third party lenses. I just keep looking at my hit rate for sports pics and thinking I should be doing better.
I'm gonna be completely real with you I bought the R6 and later ended up selling it and buying the R5 thinking I'd end up using the extra features. I'm honesty sitting here now watching this review because the last two weeks I kind of regretted it (even though I've had the R5 for a few months now) because the R6 was seriously THAT good and just for a much better price and is EXTREMELY practical. I have an RF70200 2.8 and at the time was using an EF100400 4.5-5.6. I sold the 100400 and with some extra money got a mk1 400 2.8 and all the images I had using any of those lenses were amazing. Upgrading to the R5 the difference is honestly so damn miniscule and 8k being extremely impractical until the next few years the R6 feels like a very good pickup. Hell I may actually end up selling the R5 back and getting the R6 again I was THAT confident with the camera. I think people are really undervaluing just how good the R6 is because the R5 exists. I can definitely vouch with confidence that this camera is very good and well worth the money.
@@kpopfanphotos Appreciate the details! I will be getting one when I see it for $200 off again soon. Then will be selling the 7dmkii and Tamron 7-200 2.8 to get the new RF 70-200. I use that lens more than anything so figure would make sense to get the native version. Just hoping my two sigma lenses perform alright converted. Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 EX DC OS HSM and a sigma 150-600. I do worry a small amount about not being able to crop in on things as much on a R6 vs R5 but I know I'll be able to crop just as much if not more than I do now. Losing the 1.6x crop though might make a small difference. Take care!
Ok, after spending several hours looking at your reviews on m6mk, 90d, eos r, and now eos r6. I think I'm taking the plunge more than expected by taking the r6. My 7d being dead after more than 10 of good and loyal services. I have the impression that it will be the best for me who practices sports and landscape photography. Thank you for all these videos and high quality tips, I love your channel!!
#IGotThisFar these are the only long form videos I watch in RUclips. Although it takes me several days, you can tell all the hard work you guys put into them
Thank you so much for all the effort you put into this video. I have been super close to purchasing the R6 for a while now to start my photography business but I was waiting for this review to actually pull the trigger. This video was super helpful in determining whether or not this camera will suit my needs and I feel more confident in making this purchase after seeing this video. Thanks again. I really appreciate it. And of course I watched til the end.
#igotthisfar personally I believe the length of video is necessary, if someone is watching this to make a purchase decision and you decided to cut out valuable information to shorten the video, it could tarnish your character in someone's eyes if the camera has some unexpected issues and it is simply harder to make the correct decision should you not have all of the informarion
I have the R6 for a couple of months now. Man, I love this camera! I have to shoot in low light situations a lot like volleyball, basketball and then you need higher ISO, even with a 2.8 aperture. I have 2 Canon 7D Mark II's but they are not too happy right now because I no longer use them. The R6 was my best buy ever, hands down
Lmk how u like that R6?? I have a 1DX3 & love it but need a backup/2nd body. I was thinking of the 7D2 for the crop but perhaps the R6 to start getting into mirrorless! Or perhaps u want to sell one of ur 7D2????🤔
@@showcasehardwoodfloors1473 I like the R6 very much. It was of course a bit of change to go from dslr to mirrorless but man I was happy. The 7DII was ok but when I see the difference in image quality the R6 certainly wins by a long shot. It all comes down to pixel size. The R6 has 6.56µm, the 7DII only has 4.09μm. So the amount of light photons hitting the sensor is a lot higher than with the 7DII. Because of this, high iso pictures look better and the images are also sharper.
Finally ordered an R6. The vehicle AF from the R3 coming in the new firmware is what finally tipped me over the edge as I primarily shoot motorsports. Going to be a huge upgrade from my current RP.
I never thought I would like a long review like this, but it was just awesome. And the funny thing is: I'm not even considering buying this camera (too expensive for me). Lol Your channel is fantastic.
Hi Jared, I am switching from an old full frame DSLR and an APC camera. For what I do those cameras have served me well, no complaints. However, I am moving toward some new technology and have been on the fence between the EOS R or R6 mostly because of price. Man you really broke down the features of the R6, this was a great video...very informative. I am an older photographer, almost 60, and my eyes aren't what they used to be, so I rely on the auto focus more as I get older. The tracking feature of the R6 make it worth the $$ for me, as I don't have to worry about soft images (hate it). Thank you again for such an informative and entertaining camera review. PS: I got your preset pack 1+2, I look forward to using them soon.
As an amateur photographer this was the review I was waiting for. Hopefully I'll be picking this up in the coming year. Thanks Jared and team for the content and review. #igotthisfar
I exchanged my 1Dx II for the R6. Firstly I don’t need 45MP and secondly I felt I was getting a mirrorless 1Dx III for less than 1/2 the price. It is an amazing camera #IGotThisFar.
#IgotThisFar Thanks Jared. Awesome review as usual. Looking for an R6, so this complete real world review gives me a very good idea and also confirms a few questions I had on this body. Thanks for the work, you and your team !
#IGotThisFar I love these longer videos. Even though I'm not a canon shooter myself, it's always interesting to know what's out there and how the gear works in real life.
Great review. The 20 mg pixels, for me, is something I need to work through. Especially as I am currently using a 36 mg pixel Nikon camera- D810. And yes, I’m happy the camera, shooting mainly landscape. I aim to eventually of replace the D810, with either Z6ii or Z7ii. Can you review the Z7ii , I am interested in your thoughts.
@@redfordcolesorry for auto correct I have two batteries and when I shoot video in HD mode it only last for 2 hrs, camera back side gets heated like it has a fever 💥💥💥
@@bikash3003 yeah, two hours is a lot of video I guess. I shoot real estate, so my videos are short clips rather than constant shooting. I have two batteries, so I shoot with one, and if it runs out, I let it charge while shooting with the other. I don't know if it works for your style of shooting, but have you considered attaching an external battery pack via USB? I imagine a 20,000 mah pack would give you pretty ample shooting times, or if you're stationary and indoors, you could use one that plugs into the wall like Jared does in the video.
Just made my day with this fantastic video. I just can't wait for the Sony A1 review, it is going to be long, exciting, informative and super fun to watch!!!!
You should think about doing a shoot of the ultimate joust with something from the l mount alliance. Completely for science and not just to hear it said
Thanks for this Jared. I appreciate your longer, my in depth reviews. Many longer vids by others wander off course, but you manage to never stray farther than a little entertainment requires. This one almost talked me out of buying an R5, but I crop a lot (shooting wildlife that is either small or not disposed to letting me get close). So, I am still leaning toward the extra expense to get a decent number of pixels to work with when printing. I am concerned that my astro-photography aspirations might be better served by the R6, but for shooting solar system objects the higher res may be useful for planetary detail. This is a major purchase for me and information like yours is so helpful.
Jared, I got this far and Love the content of this video. I know it was long, but this is what I’m looking for. You can’t squeeze this much detailed info in a five minute video. I managed to pick up an R6 at launch. Have not used it as much as I would like as yet. It is good to hear from you that it was a good choice and yes I watched the whole video to the end as you put forth very good information.
Canon R6 has got Jared's approval. I think going forward Canon should have a sticker on the box "Fro knows Approved" 😁
That may be less advantageous than you think haha

Thanks for the extensive review. I have both the R5 and R6 and I think you did an excellent job of describing the enormous capability of this camera. It'll be interesting to see how the next two years unfold in terms of new products, new technology, etc!!!
Man, this is really impressive. Been shooting with a 7Dmk2 for years now, and have never ceased to be impressed with its capabilities. This type of performance is just mind blowing to me.
I have missed the real world reviews!
The effort to provide unbiased information with useful context is appreciated.
I would just like to add, I shot a wedding with my R6 and I was able to take over 6,000 pictures dual recording raw to both cards with only two batteries

Sounds similar to my situation. I've been shooting with a 750d and I'm also upgrading to the the R6. Can't wait to be blown away!
@@joannefelipa367 I’m expecting it to be a whole other world compared to what I’m used to. 😊

I preordered mine without reviews. Sooo glad I did, it’s 20mp and that’s perfectly fine for what I shoot. The camera is brilliant
@@danpedraza9586 that's called courage ahaha! But it's true, the R6 is so amazing.
Exactly what I, and I'm sure many others, needed to make an informed buying decision. No BS, just a fact based, real world review of the capabilities. Thanks!
Love the Low Light Performance with this camera! Huge jump in quality from my M50.
I got this far. I really appreciate how in depth you go and how much value you give to everyone. Keep killing it.
'I like to shoot glass balls...because they're hanging there."
Hahahaha
Sounds yummy
Wonderfully detailed. I have the R6 paired with my 100-500 alot. Surprised me at how versatile this combination is.
Excellent, thorough, review. Easily the best I have seen of this camera and I have seen a lot.
No interest in the R6 but the amount of effort put into this content is clear. Thumbs up!
I saw many reviews for r6 but this is the one I found authentic ,such a detailed review .Amazing work.
Big thumbs up for this video. Cannot image why anyone give this a thumbs down.

Some people dislike Jared and will sneer at anything he produces, unfortunately.
@@anthonyc1883 Yes. Absolutely.
There are people who systemically dislike every video they come across just to troll people. Jared, what a great, thorough review! Had I not already purchased an R6 a couple of months ago, this video would've convinced me to get one. As it is I share your enthusiasm about the camera and absolutely love it! Thank you for an excellent video!
If I didn’t go all out and buy the R5, this would have definitely been my purchase. Both cameras are awesome.
Same here. But this wouldn’t be a bad idea to have as a backup camera, somewhere in the future
@@ThePsychoPhotographer Agree completely. Probably making it my B cam soon.
It was around 9:30pm when i noticed the video. As my kids do get up early i wanted to go to bed.... but i absolutely had to watch this right now! I already own an R6 since December and am blown away alone by the face and eyedetect AF.
Very nice review, appreciate the work you put into these. I looked up the 100-500 but it’s “a bit” pricey for me 😜
Greetings from Germany, stay healthy.
Really enjoyed the video, and yes, I watched all the way to the end. The R6 takes great photos. I've had my R6 for about 4 months, only own EF glass, and I am amazed at the quality of my photos--even at high ISO. THX for taking the time to do this in depth video.
Great review! I upgraded from Canon 800D to the EOS R6, and just wahoo, super happy with the camera and 24-70 f2.8 (for now)
100% agree that the Q menu needs some custom options and being able to back up and transfer custom settings from body to body would be nice. Great review Jared, Stephen and Dan. Great to see Canon and Sony are really pushing each other. #Igotthisfar
i have a r6 since 2 weeks and i love it 🥰 !! i had a 6d mark II before and i don’t regret my purchase but lenses are very expensive !!! amazing video i like it !!! bye from france 🇫🇷 👋🏻👋🏻
Moral of the story, a camera is “just a tool” that makes your photography life slightly easier or harder.
@@TOPCyber thanks I figured all of this! I’m gonna search for a preowned R6 which may be possible due to some upgrading to the R5!
Already have the camera. Love watching this cuz it validates my purchase decision 😁
Lol
Your channel is fantastic.
Congrats on another great video. Don’t bother answering to folks that don’t even watch it entirely and post negative comments, they’re just jealous...
I exchanged my 1Dx II for the R6. Firstly I don’t need 45MP and secondly I felt I was getting a mirrorless 1Dx III for less than 1/2 the price. It is an amazing camera #IGotThisFar.

#IGotThisFar I love these longer videos. Even though I'm not a canon shooter myself, it's always interesting to know what's out there and how the gear works in real life.
Amazing, amazing review! I've learned tons about photography, let alone the R6, from your presentation!
