  • Gdańsk was caught in the middle of the conflict that started the Second World War. As a city, it has suffered more than most. Therefore, it is only right and logical that Poland’s Museum of the Second World War is situated in the city of Gdańsk.
The building itself is an architectural masterpiece. It was completed in 2008, with the exhibits opening in 2017. The museum depicts the events leading up to World War 2, the events of the Second World War and the post war impacts on both Poland and the rest of the world.
As this Poland’s museum of the Second World War, it’s only right that this museum predominantly tells Poland’s story for the war. The exhibits are gripping, compelling and, at times, harrowing. You’ll see how the Axis countries came to power and how events that hadn’t found closure from the First World War came to the fore and had a vital role to play in the start of World War 2.
In this video, I explore some of the exhibits that you can see in the museum. I give tips on how to get the most out of the museum, and also, how you can visit this museum cheaply. It’s true, a lot of the exhibits are distressing. However, it is a story that needs to be told; and it’s a story that will leave you thinking and pondering the morality and realities of war.

Wow, sad but interesting. The Polish do seem to have suffered a lot in recent history, and like you said, even when the war ended, it wasn't over for them. We look forward to better times very soon, not just for Poland but for all mankind 🙂
