I LOVE sequilhos! They bring so many memories from my childhood. They're perfect to be dunk in some coffee. I'm always so excited when you make something from Brazil ❤
Talking about the versatility of sweetened condensed milk. I've made peppermint patties using it. It's a bit time consuming, but so easy to make! The filling is made with 1 can of sweetened condensed milk, peppermint oil (to taste), and powdered sugar (about 6 cups). For the chocolate coating, you need chocolate and a couple tablespoons of coconut oil. Start by mixing the condensed milk and peppermint oil with about half the sugar until it's a paste-like consistency, then taste to make sure the mint level is where you want it. Here's where you want to add more if more is needed. Then add enough sugar so that the dough is supple enough to mold, but not sticky or tacky at all. Roll out to about 1/4" thickness and use cookie cutters to punch out shapes. Lay out on a parchment-lined cookie sheet. You really don't want them to be more than 2" across, or else dipping in the chocolate can get tricky. Scraps can be re-rolled over and over until it's all used. Freeze for at least 2-3 hours. Melt your chocolate and coconut oil in a double boiler (or bowl over a pan of water at a low simmer). Once it's fully melted and the oil has incorporated into the chocolate, take off the heat. Dip the patties into the chocolate and QUICKLY fish them out with a fork. Allow extra chocolate to drip off before putting on a parchment lined sheet pan for the chocolate to set. Keep patties in the fridge or freezer because your chocolate is not tempered. SO GOOD.
I really love sequilhos, they're one of the most traditional Brazilian biscuits! In my state (Minas Gerais) it's quite common to offer them as a side treat for coffee in cafés. They can be quite expensive, too, some good quality ones can cost you three times as much as regular wheat biscuits like "rosquinhas (pron.:ros-KI-ña)", kinda pricey but lovable, nonetheless. I really love to see people like you enjoying our food and teaching the world how to make it. Your content is brilliant! Love from Belo Horizonte, 🇧🇷, obrigado!!

I like to make a different 3 ingredient cookie similar to polvores, a cookie I used to have when I lived in Spain. They are made with almond flour(11/2 cups), powdered sugar(1 cup) and the white of an egg(room temperature). You don’t think it will form a dough but once you start pressing it with your hands it comes together. Then they are rolled into balls that are then shaped into oblongs. You make an egg wash from the egg yolk and brush the tops. Bake 350 oven for 15 minutes or until golden. Dust with powdered sugar and enjoy. They are crispy outside, chewy inside and are great dipped in coffee or hot tea.
Great recipe, thank you for bringing it to our attention! They remind me of the walnut tea balls my mom would make, where she added chopped walnuts (of course) to the mix.
My grandmother has a whipped shortbread recipe that has been passed down and it’s very similar to this dough with the cornstarch. It doesn’t have sweetened condensed milk though but I think the this recipe is very similar in taste and texture because of the corn starch.
These remind me of a cookie that a friend taught me to make back when I was in high school. I did an oral presentation for Puerto Rico and in so doing I also made a treat from the area where my friend; Jackie, grew up. The treat was potato chip, melt away cookies. They were fabulous and so easy to make. Turns out they were a treat that was common in Barcelona, not PR....as she was raised and schooled at a nunnery in Barcelona, Spain. Anyway....the cookies were quick to make, easy to follow directions and I thought maybe you would’ve heard of them....??
I was wondering since I have a dairy allergy would coconut condensed milk work ? I'm loving that it's also gluten free. Thank you so you many many inspiring ideas ❤️ may you and your loved ones stay blessed
I came here to ask this! My roommate has a bunch of dietary restrictions and I thought these might be perfect for them with some adjustments. I didn't know coconut condensed milk was a thing!
I made something very similar with my christmas cookies this year but it did not use sweetened condensed milk. very good! They melt in your hands when you pick them up
Made dulce de leche once and even though I thought it tasted really good. Considering it takes fours to make about a 16oz glass jar worth. After slowing simmering a quart of milk, two cup of sugar and after a hour of simmer/ stirring add a tsp of baking soda. The continuing simmer/ stirring for three hours. Just felt it makes more sense to just buy it. If I were to make again I think I'll try the slow cook recipe and see if I can make enough to make four sixteen oz jars worth. I remember someone suggesting boiling a can of the sweeter condensed milk for I think two hours??? and letting it cool for a couple of hours. For Elton Browns leche recipe on the food network website. Then another commenter wrote they've tried this and strongly warned if any does try this to make it has cooled down completely, because the can exploded and had hot sticky milk caramel all over the kitchen.
Omg!! I tried this cookie when I was 6 or 7 and it was dusted with Cinammon, I could only find snickerdoodle recipes so I thought I must have imagined that it was so fluffy and disappeared in my mouth. Thank you, thank the heavens, thank you life for this.
I found this recipe elsewhere and it said to melt the butter. So easy! I make a few fresh and make a roll and refrigerate, then I can cut off a few at a time and have fresh cookies. A bit of vanilla is nice too!
I can't wait to make these! Thanks for sharing! I have a really good no bake cheesecake recipe using sweetened condensed milk if you'd like? It's THE BEST! plus it's so easy. You take one can condensed milk, 1/3 cup fresh or artificial lemon juice, one 250g pack of cream cheese, and a table spoon of vanilla, mix it all up and pour it into a ready made gramcracker crust pie form and put it in the fridge for at least 4 hours, but overnight is best, then take can of cherry pie filling (or whatever flavor you want) to put on top of your piece when you serve it. I swear it's one of the best cheesecakes I've ever had! And I'm a cheesecake girl. I make it all the time. I really hope you try it, it's so good!
Condensed milk makes a great frosting. Whip butter, add in vanilla and slowly, the condensed milk. You end up with a very light buttercream that, surprisingly, is not too sweet. I’ve seen it called Russian buttercream. When I don’t feel like making Swiss Meringue Buttercream, I make this instead because it is so simple. I am not sure how it would stand up to a three layer cake, but it is great on cupcakes and single-layer-or sheet-cakes. 💗your channel, Emmy … and your name.
I agree with you about sweetened condensed milk! After making the cremora tart recipe, (and realizing how good the stuff is in coffee or hot chocolate if you have leftovers) I always make sure to have condensed milk on hand.
We have a similar cookie in Turkey, it's called "un kurabiyesi", flour cookies. It's made with evaporating the water from margarine and mixing with flour and powdered sugar💫
I have a lot of starches in the house, I might try this with potato starch or tapioca starch. I grew up in the desert southwest of the USA, and we used sweetened condensed milk in a lot of recipes.
I thought it sounded odd to make cookies with corn starch instead of wheat flour, until I remembered the Brits call it “corn flour”. Makes perfect sense! I have a can of that sweetened milk in my cupboard and wondered what to use it for. This may become my new go-to (I love easy, and it doesn’t get much easier than 3 ingredients when it comes to baking!).
this sounds incredibly similar to the filipino "masa podrida" - it's also pale and melts in your mouth, and they're often shaped like little stars and moons!
You know, when I saw these biscuits, I immediately thought about those biscuits you mentioned. I remember those spherical biscuits growing up, and I would always get my mom to buy them for me whenever we would pass by these biscuits vendors in the markets back home. When you said they were Brazilian, I was astonished as to how cultures and cuisines are so… mashed up, if you know what I mean. I love your shows, Emmy~~!
Just tried this and they're oddly addictive. I didn't like them at first bite as they're dry and very dense. Now I keep going back for more. They do taste and smell pretty strongly of cornstarch though which isn't very pleasant. Perhaps that will lessen as they sit too. They'll be lovely with my morning coffee
instead of rolling into balls, i flattened & cut diamonds, squares and triangles. painted a few colors on them and some colored sugars for the kids, gr8!!

You're like the bob Ross of baking. Such a calming voice
I'm so glad someone else has noticed!! Emmys calm voice has reminded me of Bob Ross since I started watching
With everything going crazy in the world it’s so wonderful to see your beautiful happy face. Love your videos!!!
Thank you.
I know right!?!! I was in need of some soothing content and Emmy’s videos are like a warm hug. ✌🏻💖
Anyone else think the small wisp of cornstarch in her hair is just precious? Emmy you are the cutest!!
Yay!!! As a Brazilian, this makes me super happy 🥰
Oh! You can add some dehydrated coconut to them too 😋
All my years of baking and decorating cakes...and I never thought to smash my butter to make it warm faster 🤯
Yes, Emmy 👏🏻 I'm also from Brazil, I love having a couple of sequilhos with black coffee, it's marvelous.
the best part of this video was watching you transform your sunglasses. my kids loved the sound effects! thanks for being so genuine Emmy!
These were called melting moments when I was a child. Best ever!
Emmy we love you, thank you for your content, sweet genuine lady 💕💕
Great recipe, thank you for bringing it to our attention! They remind me of the walnut tea balls my mom would make, where she added chopped walnuts (of course) to the mix.
My grandmother has a whipped shortbread recipe that has been passed down and it’s very similar to this dough with the cornstarch. It doesn’t have sweetened condensed milk though but I think the this recipe is very similar in taste and texture because of the corn starch.
These look so delicious and easy! Would be amazing with a cup of tea 🫖
Going to try this with a coconut sweetened condensed milk, excited to see if it works because with plant butter that also make dairy free.
That would be good to know if it works. My husband is highly allergic to milk so I am always looking for dairy free recipes.
Emmy has me in a chokehold 😭 love you Emmy! I look forward to watching your videos .. especially if I’ve had a not so good day❤️
These remind me of a cookie that a friend taught me to make back when I was in high school.
Probably not gonna taste the same, a lot of the flavor comes from the condensed milk, but it should definitely work
I just happen to have two cans of coconut condensed milk in my pantry so I will make these and let you know!!
@@lindadewlaney6629 if you don't mind, let me know how they turn out ❤️
@@anaflavialrc thank you for responding and will be making these for our grandchildren
I made something very similar with my christmas cookies this year but it did not use sweetened condensed milk. very good! They melt in your hands when you pick them up
The way you say Maizena is the cutest thing 🥰 Love from Brazil ❤️❤️
Today has been so heavy. Thank you for existing
This seems like a easy and tasty cookie for gluten free people, I'm glad you made a video about these.
I keep both evaporated and sweetened condensed milk on hand . My husband found out the hard way that they are not interchangeable.
Ah sequilhos!!
Used to make a lot of those, with potato starch instead of cornstarch - they are also pretty good 😋
Thank you!!! I was crawling the comments to find out if I can use potato starch cause we don't have cornstarch where I live.
I can’t believe this!! You’re the best, Emmy. Much love from Brazil! ❤️🥰
Here at home we put a piece of guava paste to bake together. It tastes so good! 🤤
I had similar cookies from an italian brand with amaretto flavor! this type of texture is amazing
What an interesting recipe, I can't wait to try making these myself! Lovely video as always Emmy, very educational and fun at the same time.
Thank you! I hope you like them.
EMMYYY try the brazilian "pão de queijo", or "cheese bread". it's scrumptious and super easy to make.
Yes!! It's so good. More people need to know about it!
I was just wondering if Emmy has made them before! They’re so delicious, I want to see her face when she tastes one 😻
Never had these before but they look delicious! I would want to add lemon extract or lemon zest ❤️
They essentially are shortbread cookies we make here in Canada at Christmastime. We top them with sprinkles or half a maraschino cherry.
This may become my new go-to (I love easy, and it doesn’t get much easier than 3 ingredients when it comes to baking!).
always love a simple gluten free treat!
oh my god! so nice seeing you doing things from my country :) would love to see more, we have a lot of different delicious pastries
YEEES, Emmy coming through with Brazilian sequilhos!
Thank you so much for reading my message and trying these for ALL of us. Now to make them and enjoy with my cup of morning coffee❤
Making these as we speak. Really looking forward to the outcome
this sounds incredibly similar to the filipino "masa podrida" - it's also pale and melts in your mouth, and they're often shaped like little stars and moons!
Thank you for telling us such a lovely memory of yours!
I used to eat tamago boro cookies as a child. I think these are very similar to those cookies. They look delicious!
Always here for a good gluten free recipe! Will be trying this recipe out for sure!
Where's the recipe?
Thank you for the playlist, I love you!!! 🥺
Love that these are gluten free and so simple!
instead of rolling into balls, i flattened & cut diamonds, squares and triangles. painted a few colors on them and some colored sugars for the kids, gr8!!
