I love my 2016 Tucson and will be happy to get the facelift in a couple of months. You don't get all these features at a comparable price elsewhere. I mean vented seats, huge panoramic roof, 8 speed, 400nm, 360 camera, autonomous driving assistance etc. Yes there are some cheap plastics and it does not sound like a V8 but hell this vehicle is so handsome, comfy and affordable. Simply Best in Class for me
One of my favorite entries in the segment. Materials are hard, yes. But the build quality seems to be well above the average. Nothing rattles on it's own and that's important to me.
I don't know where you live (and therefore what your average is) but by the European standards interior quality is very mediocre which is dissapointing in such expensive vehicle.
@@sic22l Except it isn't. Quality isn't about soft materials. It's about how it's put together. I guess everything is subjective but the quality of the Range Rover Velar is below a Suzuki Swift. And the quality of the VW Tiguan is worse than the Hyundai Tucson. Because anything you touch in a VW is soft and creaks. Anything you touch in the Velar is soft, creaks and moves when it shouldn't. It's that simple. To my anyways.
Who uses coins nowadays? If you want you can still put a soft cover at the bottom of the little cubby, it’s very easy. I have the 2018 version, the plastics are comparable to its competitors, even the Mazda CX-5 (it has hard plastics too, they’re just shinier). At least it’s very well put together and doesn’t make any noises. It feels sturdy and it’s an elegant design. Better design than Volkswagen for sure (exterior and interior), and I’m not even talking about the new RAV4 which is probably the ugliest of the whole pack of compact SUVs.
If this was a Dacia for 10k euro I can buy a piece of foam and no problem. This car is slightly more expensive, and I expect others to do this effort for me. I would say Mazda CX-5 has better interior, but that's subjective.
Marek Drives - cx-5 is said to have the smoothest ride in its class but you pay more for it. The Mazda dealership near my home doesn’t negotiate. The Hyundai dealership will attempt to give you an attractive offer. Although the Mazda has a smoother ride and a better looking interior, it looks like a hatchback on the outside. The Tucson’s interior isn’t much to look at but the exterior is much more attractive than the cx-5 IMHO.
Marek your videos have always been great but lately they fantastic. Top marks to you. Where did you learn to speak such perfect English. Your use of English slang words are terrific. Well done sir.
Marek in your dark coat and black gloves you look like gestapo member testing hyundai... Nice rewiew, but i will rather buy I30 N or N line if must be Hyundai...
Music is a bit too loud dude... When you are talkin I want to hear what you say... Not the music that is blaring in the background. additionally, I want to see the actual car itself. Here's a tip, video the car and have a voice over talking about the car instead of pointing the camera at your face
Looks nice, exterior even better than the interior. We'll see whoch direction are they gonna go now that the Peter Schreyer left. But engine wise feels like competition is ahead, quality wise too... New rav4 should offer a lot more for the money. 44k euros is a lot for the segment. Plus theres cx5, crv now with the hybrid too, skodas, kadjar etc etc.

I really like your reviews. No car is good. No changes have been made for generations. Everything is expensive, fuel economy is awful, interior quality, interior color is too much or to little, is poor, exterior styling is either too much or too little. Actually your conclusion is: all cars are bad, don’t buy them
I wouldn't go as far. There are some cars I like, and I would recommend buying. Usually they are the cars nobody is buying, which is just as well, because car journalists know nothing about what normal people actually want :)
At 0:29...asymmetric makes it look crooked? That's odd, given most non-sport vehicles only have exhaust tips on one side of the vehicle... pretty lame comment
Hi Marek I have a question. If you had a choice of 2 cars only.. 1 being prius gen 3 plugin hybrid and a gen 4 hybrid.. not plugin... which would you choose as the best overall for a taxi in the UK? Your opinion really matters.
I don't know if/how hybrids/plug-in hybrids are taxed in London, but assuming the tax on them is the same or similar, I'd take the new non-plug-in Prius over the old plug-in any day. It's just a much more efficient car. Realistic electric range on gen 3 is insufficient to make it a viable option for a cab. AFAIR 25-30 km is all you could get from it, when it was new.
Thank you so much for your input. There is the option of the Auris hybrid as well. The only thing is they changed the model from 2012 to 2015 or 16 then this updated version appeared with the new grill etc.. do you have any advice if was to choose between one of those instead? E.g. late 2015 or new 2016.. which would be the best in that case? I only ask because I havnt a clue what kind of changes they have made under the hood. Thanks again for your kind reply.
You've probably never been on a film set (especially a budget one), so you may not realise, but in autumn and winter you spend several hours in freezing cold, and you still have to wear something moderately non-arctic to look OK. Once in the car, there's no time to heat up the interior, because there are stops to change cameras, etc. Also there are less mistakes, when filming cutaways with pressing buttons (not an issue in this episode). Sometimes it's a gloved hand, sometimes naked finger. People notice and point that out just like you're pointing out heated steering wheel and gloves.

I agree, the new rav4 looks ugly, and they copied the look of the VW Tiguan from the rear.
