- Part 2 of our series on building a car for the BRSCC's City Car Cup. After fitting the cage and other items from the mandatory parts list inside the car in part 1, we turn to the stuff we have to fit outside the car. The new bushes are fitted along with the sports exhaust. We then take an angle grinder to a sensitive component because reasons. Thanks for watching, we hope you enjoy it!

“Which requires a special kind of knob, which we’ve got” *confused look*
Had me rolling 😂
Despite all the uncertainty in the world right now, you can be certain that if one of these guys needs a dumbbell, knob or anything else vaguely insulting, the first thing that will happen is a jump shot to the other guy 😅👍
Joseph Karl it’s good to know the universe has a sense of continuity lol
Could see it coming eh, classic BOM humour.

C/ Re-assemble car
Reminds me of an old Kubota tractor workshop manual, where items from the periodic inspection checklist included the step "remove engine from the clutch housing" :D
I love the way you've precisely defined the challenge "for the price of a reasonably high end Sim race set up".
With that criteria, good man maths could easily justify anything up to and including a 911 GT3
These videos arriving so quickly - it's like time travel with Tetleys.

"Overkill is my second favourite kill"
Would you mind putting that on a t-shirt, I'm a structural engineer and the wife always accuses me of the overkill thing when I'm making stuff for the kids to play on...
As a fellow engineer, I second this.
110%
As an electronics engineer who builds control chips for satellite power supplies I can say this: Overkill is the only way!
@@InitialDIYmods As a plainclothes tinker who just like things to work, I third this!
@@TheRapand As an electrician/consumer electronics repair guy and spare-time tinkerer I fourth this!
You've forgot the easiest and cheapest mod to make your racecar faster: High compression washer. There's 15 kilo's of excessive weight in that thing, and with those power levels, all of it counts.
"To make it easier to remove the struts, the wiper arm comes off"
Me, who has only ever worked on old cars: **frowning intensifies**
I spent a solid 5 seconds waiting for the punchline, until I remembered how tightly packed the front end of that car must be. :-)
It'd be very Colin Chapmanesque to use the same bolt for the strut and the wiper arm.
@@Stereomoo Me, too, instantly was thinking of Mr Chapman's creative genius when it came to impossible triple use of vastly underweight parts, but it turned out that Toyotroën just put two layers of things in the way of service access like every other car hack calling themselves "engineer" these days.
To remove the rear wheel on my bike i need to remove the front mudguard lol.
@@SF-tb4kb I had a vauxhall cavalier that required stripping the entire dash from the drivers door to the centre console in order to replace the bulb in the clock.
This series does not help in resisting the urge to convert my 1st gen Honda Jazz into a little hillclimb machine...
Great videos as always!
I'm noticing a dearth of CAD and brackets and an excess of ferric oxide.
That seat will need a bracket I'm sure... Lol
Exhaust rubbers had a bracket to keep them on. AKA a Jubilee clip.
Loving this series so far - it's going some way to fill the cavernous void in my heart that only a Binky update will ultimately fill 👌
I’ve realized that I enjoy watching BOM regardless of which vehicle you guys are working on.
Well, the fun lies in the guys working on the cars and not so much in the cars...
These grassroots race series are the best thing.
It takes a lot of the budget and knowledge handicaps out of racing! All these mods would be documented so ever someone with little mechanical experience can do it.
Its great for youngsters starting out and healthy for the sport

Strut replacement. Step 1: remove windscreen wiper.
😤
🏁KLUTCH°58°KUSTOMS🇬🇧 I agree. Peugeot 308 - remove wiper arms and plastic cover - disconnect wiper linkages - now you can remove the strut nuts😡
Or service the HVAC
Step 1: remove the entire dashboard.
So compact, not only are the headlights hugging the doors, the front springs are under the dashboard. You can adjust them from the glove box
On some jaguars you need to remove the front wiper assembly to change the cabin filter. Just because.
Just put a Tow bar on a VW T5, 30 min fitting the toe bar. 3 hours of crap to get there, 3 more to put it all back on......oh and 25 min of buggering about with the wiring!

Hands down the best car related channel on RUclips
Damn. That was a very quick 24 minutes. No sooner had I started watching it, it was over. Bring on part 3
What makes these videos so bloody amazing is the two fantastic guys in them. Comedy entertainment mixed with knowledge.
"Mmmmmm shiny" Only the best popculture for these guys 😅
And one I hope they never remake, the original is just too priceless!
Me at 16:21 "who tf is victoria mitchell?"
Me a little over a minute later: "Well, £39 is a little steep, but it does say their cardboard cut outs match the celebrities height and I got plenty of use out of Carol Voorderman before she went floppy"
Shows the enthusiasm for this channel when around 50 percent of the subscriber total have seen the video in only 24 hours. Great work guys. Keep it up.
Guys, you are one of the best things that happened to youtube. Absolutely love your content and can't do anything alse than keep recommending it to friends, glad this series is on: I needed a fix of bad obsession motorsport!
I hadn’t realised just how much i had missed the excited “Make the noise?!?!” Until Rich said it, bloody hell, i missed it
"Lube up thoroughly the inner part of the bush, then just slide it in!"
Nearly spat out my drink, laughing!
I am sooo happy right now it was rough not getting my bad obsession Motorsports fix for like 2 months but now 2 in 2 weeks did Christmas come early, lots of appreciation from a happy Canadian
Love this series, but can´t wait for you guys to continue working on the Escargot!
Your videos always make me smile. I so enjoy watching you rip into a car. In the former North American Colonies, the "Jubilee Clip®" is a "hose clamp", while the the "Mole Grip®" is the "Vise Grip®". You can see the brand name in the top picture in the Wikipedia "Locking pliers" article. When I worked for General Motors 40 years ago that "bottom arm" in front was called an "A-frame", from the shape.
I was trying to eat a kebab when you said "scabby old bush" cheers for that!

2 episodes within a week of each other. This is BOM, but not as we know it.
2020 manifests in strange ways
Luckily there was a two month hiatus before this, and were still waiting for paint and trim for Binky!
I'm dreaming! I know it!
it must be the lack of brackets that account for the speed.
@@chrisbassaragh7283 But is that really what we want from Bracket Obsession Motorsport?

Keep up the fantastic work guys - you're the best!
Absolutely brilliant as always, never fail to put a smile on my face!
Total legends!
Wow lads, I was looking forward to seeing this sometime in 2030. Nice one. What a super pleasant surprise!.
Not going to lie, I don’t think a simulation chair will need a hydraulic press to put it together.
Maybe but my press was only a couple hundred bucks and it has paid for itself many times over.
I mean how expensive is it to go to a welder or fabrication shop to do a simple press job .
@@yousefabdulrhman858 most placed won't even charge you £20 to do it haha if you've done all the prep yourself
Swing presses are cheap and most will already own several
@@yousefabdulrhman858 Shop rates will very, but lets say it is 100 bucks per hour. Now most garages start the clock with an hour even if the job takes 20 minutes. If you have to do this a few times, you'd be better off buying a proper press. My press is 50 ton and I bought it used for $200. I have used it many times and will again and when I am done with it (or die), my kids can use it or sell it for a few hundred bucks.
Really enjoying these. Just the right amount of useful information, backed up with just the right amount of humour.
Really getting spoiled here with those regular uploads!
An excellent demonstration of the proper use of calibrated tapometers
Always a good episode. Nice seeing some Milwaukee power tools. Hopefully they’re now sponsored. Being in the UK Tengtools should send them a truckload of goodies. They deserve the schwag.
Unlike others who are sponsored to use inferior powertools.
@Tone. more like MCM who know where Thier sponsors interests lie. Deboss is Milwaukee sponsored though.
In these difficult and trying time, you provide genuine entertainment and knowledge. Respect 👍
Hang on guys, its only been 6 days since the last video! What the heck is going on!
Is this what happens when someone else makes Nicks brackets for him? 😂
7 days!!
Do you really want to watch seven more years of making brackets?
Had that been my mini project taking that long I'd set fire to it long ago! Havent watched many 'Binky' episodes because of that it seems to never ever get finished.

Anyways, enjoyed it very much!
THIS is not real: can you not spot a fake nowadays??? Watching Trump too much makes people believe everything they see/hear... These current guys are just 2 cunning linguists, faking it (probably Russian influencers). Proof = no jug boiling, no Nick brackets, = no cutting, grinding, welding, over-engineering... The raw treatment of this car is refreshing men 👌👌
Oh boy, with this new release schedule I really picked the wrong month to quit amphetamines.
I would say I quit beer and bourbon, but unfortunately ( 😎 ) that has almost doubled since the beginning of the year.
Colin Chapman salutes you
It was kind of nice seeing you not knock the rust off and paint the bits ya pulled out for a change. Nice reminder that it's a working car. I watch far too many restoration videos! Great video. Thank you!

I am really enjoying this series. Nicely done video, thank you. 🙂
You hear the phrase; "To get better access to the suspension, we removed the windscreen wipers"...and you know it isn't a huge car.
I’m loving the videos, new to the channel. I’ve got to say though you can buy these cars pre built for £6500. Being that I don’t have any of the tools needed or the space to do it the pre built car is looking very well priced. This race series really does look like a lot of bang for your buck however you get to the grid.
Tone. Yeah the series site sells them ready to race.
Correct about victoria coren mitchell.......
Whoooo and hooooo!
Love the Holy Grail reference with the jacking up of the rear axle.
I'm not sure I'm ready for so much content so quickly. This relationship is moving too quickly for me.
Guys, I would double check and make sure the rear shock towers are reinforced since youre now running a full coilover in the rear on a trailing arm car, its going to put more stress on the top shock mount since it normally sees compression and rebound forces, but not the full car's weight. I would get some plates made up for the top, or something similar.
Didn't feel like cleaning off all that gunge and rust? Surely being under the car later on and not having stuff falling in your eyes is worth it? Also lightweight!!!
I haven't seen so many Airplane or Monty Python references since the 70s....
Yeah doing that actually bugs me, why do all this on a dirty car... unless they're gonna clean it on a lift?
Canny race trick. Car weighs in legal at start of race weekend but becomes progressively lighter during the races as bits fall off.
I am UK based and every time I have done a job like that I like to clean up and paint, Hammerite or Powder coat but powder coating can take a week or two
Yeah not sure why they wouldn't spend a minute to take the rust off with a wire wheel and chuck a bit of paint on there
@@tomb9818 Because they know best of everyone how a project can spiral out of control and take a lot longer when you start getting fancy.
I do learn a lot about my own car; how it is assembled and how it’s looking underneath certain shells. So, thank you for that (and your fine sense of humour!)
I like the bit where the jack was squeaking.
The Totaliser theme tune has a distinct hint of The Professionals theme. :)
11:20 That part where it took forever to jack up had just the right amount of silliness and humor to it

Twatting something means the thing these guys refer to.
In this context it is a derivation of the old Norse "To repeatedly beat something soft with something hard"
It's quicker than saying 'Manually operated swing persuader'
Percussive maintenance is a good one.

I just thought that the new episode should be coming up soon. 30 seconds later the notification came
Amazing videos demonstrating that "anything worth doing is worth over-doing!" Thank you and keep 'em coming. I have 1 request though...
Considering how much welding and fabrication goes on in your builds. it would be great if you could make videos specific to these 2 topics showing us your techniques
i love how much of building a race car require large hammers
It would shock and distress the average car owner to learn just how much of the maintenance and repair of their precious baby involves beating on it with a heavy lump of steel.
