This is absolutely horrific. Jake might have been Bipolar but Pam was truly the SICK one in the “relationship.”
For sure and I'm not buying the no sex thing .....😒
@@charliechurch5004 I expect she at least sustained sexual tension to help keep his attention and compliance.
@Gmail Account your point being??? are you arguing semantics? Do you have a problem with my use of the English language? Why add the “Thank You,” when adding little to no value to the conversation. No one made the argument that illness defined the person. I mean I’m legally blind and use speech-to-text to respond or make comments online and via text. Errors often happen, making corrections are difficult and unfortunately tends to create more errors. AUTOcorrect will often incorrectly correct me. Standard blind peoples problems. Being online is still an even playing field. Or we can all communicate and get our points across effectively, if we try to. I also had to deal with 16 deaths during the pandemic, ended up in a nursing home with my young self because I caught Covid twice and it almost took my life. Side note: it was a terrifying look as to what people who have aged will likely deal with / will suffer through when they are placed in homes like that permanently… I was stuck in a hospital bed and It was H E L L! I had to slowly re-learn how to walk again. But that’s life! It throws curveballs but it’s up to us to learn how to swing. cause every person you come across online is going to have some sort of issue, or view take that differs from yours, and, unless it’s just overly offensive and or is straight coming for you, I don’t see any reason to get bent. The times when I overly emoted online had more to do with my issues than anyone else. I don’t understand how you read my comment and decided to stand on a little soapbox to lecture me on the appropriateness when speaking on abilities. But hey, tis the net… feel free sound off. My stance remains the same. Pam took advantage of a person that she took charge of, because of HIS mental health. She being a Mental Health Professional as well as family manipulated him into committing a heinous act. So IMO she’s sicker than him. She played on the gravity of his disorder along with his wants and needs as a human being… if you disagree with my stance, that’s one thing but please don’t use me to create a narrative.
@Gmail Account yep! 👏 thank you. Didn’t really want this you know? Lol
Pam sounds totally narcissistic/ sociopathic.
Don’t you just hate it when you try to kill your child’s other parent so they do not get custody only to get caught, sent to prison and lose custody of said child?
Yes, truly sad!!!!! 😁
I think this was a LifeTime movie. "My Shrink Made Me Do It" or some shit.
Such and similar crimes by proxy like severe assault and framing are not uncommon. Getting caught, doing prison time and losing custody is less common.
All work and no play makes Jack a dull boy as in Jack Nicholson in The Shining.
@@jamesparlane9289 LOL!
I think it’s utterly sad that the most vulnerable populations are often victims of horrible manipulation. For Jake, she symbolized hope and safety, yet she betrayed his trust in the worst possible way.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts with us, Dr. Grande.❤️
Rejane - I'm sorry but why did his parents think that this was a good plan? They must have been really stressed! It is true that there are not enough solutions for mental health. But full time living with your provider is insane! Talk about Boundaries!
@@bthomson Maybe his parents were short on money for psychiatrists?
@@bthomson I agree, what a terrible decision.🤦🏻♀️
@Road Runner Billiard Club His parents in an interview come across as very intelligent and grounded, and they viewed Pamela as a safe, kind person who would hopefully snap Jake out of the 'break' he suffered in elementary school....they especially trusted her because she was a cousin, very smart and successful in helping people.
They commented that for a while he was happy, felt and functioned better. I honestly think they had no idea how close she was pulling him, or the job she intended for him to do.
She looks like a villain in a Tim Burton movie.
Don't understand how she wasn't brought up on ethical charges before the murder attempt? Everything she did was wrong, she made little attempt to hide it and nobody objected not even the victim, a trained therapist. She treated a relative, she cohabited with a patient, she employed a patient as a caregiver to her son. Where was her supervision?
she must've been a girl boss.
She is a woman.
You should always believe woman!
Havent you gotten the memo?
You typically need to have some kind of justice system involvement or a malpractice case, to have your license taken away. The licensing board cannot meaningfully investigate in their own. They really rely on courts to figure out if complaints are legitimate.
No idea why she was able to practice for so long, except that it maybe no one complained to the board and told them what was going on. Or, maybe they did complain, but she had really good legal representation with the licensing board, and she was able to keep her license because of that.
You're right the narcissistic counselor used a weakness of an individual to get the money. Greed. She even got in bed with him. She should go down
@@derstoffausdemderjoghurtis Tbf the boards are basically for show and don't care unless it's bad enough to make it to the media
She was manipulating him all the way! Sad story Dr. Grande. She wanted her ex dead and knew Jake would do as she wanted. Thanks for your analysis!
Jake is still a weak fool tho. He wont get to see the boy for a long time
“A private sledgehammer attack.” Sounds so intimate! Who could resist? Thanks for the giggle
When you really want that “intimate” feeling in a relationship.
Yikes 😳
A 10 lb sledgehammer is a clumsy, heavy, ridiculous tool to try to kill someone with. Pamela is obviously ignorant about murder weapons. An 18 inch, 1.5 Pound Framing Hammer would have worked 100 times better. I'm glad she got prison time.
A few psychotherapists/psychoanalysts in Australia violate boundaries and have issues which are serious. I finally found one with strong boundaries in place who was open with good communication skills and highly professional. The original ones held back my recovery and nearly destroyed me. Always be aware of Your boundaries when engaging with a therapist and terminate the situation if you feel uncomfortable. Thanks for video!
Predatory?
There’s a popular RUclipsr who gives therapy disguised as “coaching” and she had horrible boundaries with me. She made things sexual, was super manipulative, and condescending too. Ugh

Boundaries are so important especially, when interacting with narcissistic people. Thank you 🤔❤🇺🇸
The idea that she had no problems with boundary violations might lead one to consider how many other instances there were prior to this one. Also, a sledgehammer and knife is a terrible idea for a weapons combination. They hardly go hand in hand. Almost as bad a concept as a public burning.
Narcissistic hate blinds and causes ridiculousness..

Up all night with Dr. Grande! Great to hear your reasoned words about Buchbinder’s unprofessional conduct, including such gross manipulation and breaking of boundaries with her patient. Superb analysis-thank you.
This video is DEFINITELY more intriguing than a homicidal version of hammer time! Homicide is horrific, this analysis is spectacular! Gracias, Dr. Grande!
Weird that she would welcome her nephew in her bed and communicate in a romantic way. She was obviously also suffering from mental health problems
I think he's her cousin, not her nephew. Not that a cousin is really any better than a nephew to "sleep" with....
70% of psychiatrist are mentally ill and that group of people in there profession suffer the most suicides it was found.
Yea a creepy narcissistic clever manipulator, mental health on a high functioning scale
Think she did it with a purpose, not sick in a mental health way, just sick ethically
How on Earth do these people think they are going to get away with their murders?
A friend of mine was medicated from age 4 till he was 18. As many as 20 different medications. He was obese & his liver was failing. He then developed serious eating disorders & had a slew of untreated mental & emotional problems. I've had many conversations trying to understand & help him but to no avail. I realized he never actually had any real therapy. He was just a lab day for cocktails of meds & physically threatened & hit when he refused to take them. He has anger issues because of what happened & is resistant to therapy out of fear & trauma of his past experiences
Why was he medicated thou ? Also, if his liver was failing, how did they cure that? That's actually irreversible. Obesity is a side effect common in antipsychotic medications, not weight gain i mean actual obesity.
@@chinchillamdgamer Yes this is true. The Dr beat me to it.

Dr. Grande, thank you so much for your hard work on these videos. Watching this wide variety of subjects is a highlight of my day, especially if it has been particularly challenging at work. Your calm and reasoned approach is greatly appreciated, and the humor is just the cherry on top.
My therapist really manipulated me . She had almost no boundaries at all. She had me doing all kinds of things that were persomal, like cleaning her house; taking care of her kids, and doing other personal jpbs 4 her. Also, she pressured me to change religions to hers (leave christianity) and i had to pay monthly dues to belong. Also, she very often took me out of state with her to religious retreats which cost me several hundred dollars each , where we shared a tent while camping. I could go on forever. This lasted 12 years. I found out in the end that for the last several years that she had not been billing my insurance in case she was questioned, she could say she wasnt treating me. That way she couldnt get in trouble. Yet she was still charging me my co pay every time we met [3x/ wk.]. It was really screwed up. Shes old and retired now. But bc of this, i dont trust therapists at all. Ill never go back to one.
Oh Ann, I'm sorry you had to go through this. I've had a couple of bad experience's myself. I really do hope that you'll find a ethical therapist, when you do, you'll blossom like a summer 🌹. Take care and God bless.
Couldn't have you reported her to the body that licences psychiatrists? We had a psychiatrist many years ago who also trained students at UBC in psychiatry who turned his patients into his personal sex slaves! Be got in serious trouble when one his patients finally reported him. His name was James Tyhurst and I don't know if he is still alive.
There are good therapists out there. You just have to trust your instincts and learn about professional boundaries so you will know when they are being crossed.
My last experience with a Therapist pretty much cured me of ever wanting to go to a Therapist ever again as well.
I am a psychotherapist.
Dr. Grande is mistaken or naïve; the industry of psychology/counselling/psychotherapy is infested with manipulators pretending to be society's good and caring people.
I believe the most cunning hateful and manipulative psychopaths gather in this industry and I expect that one day in the future the lid will get blown off and the public will know how morally corrupt the industry is.
Most clients do not know they are being manipulated or for what purpose.
Edit: From what I have seen, psychiatry is generally healthy. It is psychology and the counselling therapies where the manipulators thrive.
Plot twist : she is not a therapist.
But a failed cult leader with only one appostle.
It's quite incredible how many murder cases there are where the murderer or someone involved in the deed gets caught buying the murder weapons in a shop just before the crime has been committed, sometimes it's bleach, tape, black bags etc. - obviously not as smart as they think they are and this is always used as part of the evidence that they are involved in some way. Thanks for your work, always interesting and love the dry wit..lol..
It's hilarious when they catch them on camera at a Walmart or Home Depot buying an ax, trash bag, industrial sized bleach and a saw. Yes, just a normal list of items anyone would buy.
@@roslynhawkins1475 There's a case here in UK of a serving policeman who murdered a young woman - Sarah Everard - he was pictured in a diy store buying green bags on a day he said he was too sick to attend work, these bags were used to carry her body later. Also pictured talking to the victim by someone's car camera - he had enticed her into his car by saying she was being arrested for breaching covid rules. On cctv most of the route he drove her through, etc. Terrible case but unbelievable how he thought he could get away with it and shows how arrogant, amongst other things, these madmen are. Breathtaking really😨.
@@celestenova777 I don't get it! Lol. I'd at least send someone else to buy my "necessities." At least that may hold the cops off for a while. You're right, it's the narcissism and arrogance that makes them believe they are smarter than anyone else and that they are above the law.

Working late Dr Grande? My gosh Pamela was EVIL!
Glad Michael survived. She was a terribly manipulative person to use Jake like that but he should have known better. Thanks for another great analysis Dr G😊💛💛
You’re the only person I can watch when I’m having a headache lol
He lost me at $7,000 a month apartment.
This goes to show the power of a psychiatrist. Most have the best of intentions and are professional. Of course, they still have a heavy influence on their clients. When I was Mormon, I saw two mental health professionals whom tried to convince me that I wasn't raped, because it protected a higher respected member of their organization. It took years to reach for help on this from another mental health professional.
Man Mormonism is really a cult...
This case is infuriating. Pamela should be in jail for life. Jake should be free. He was a victim.Thank goodness Michael lived.
He still went along with it, but she is worse.
“He told police he brought a sledgehammer and knife with him to Michael’s house because he was scared” 😂😂😂😂. This excuse killed me. If you are actually so terrified of someone that you consider bringing a knife and sledgehammer to meet with them, I think the logical thought would be just to not meet with them.
Omg I had to watch with this catchy title “Hammer Time”, but you can’t touch this ….my my my lol spot on as usual.
Great analysis...as usual. You always make me laugh with your dark (very funny) humor. Hammer Time...can' touch this.

Dr.Grande is so funny! I nearly spit out my coffee.
Back when I was a young man, a ten pound sledgehammer was considered a “fine adjustment tool”. An eighteen pound sledgehammer was considered a “standard size” piece of tooling kit.
Living the boilermaker life!
Professionals of kinds can easily manipulate their clients. It's a play in the power of the relationship. A father can manipulate his children, a teacher his students, mental expert his client etc. The person in the higher status can easily manipulate the vulnerable child, student, client etc., especially after he develops a facade of being trust worthy, sincerely interested, etc. It becomes more difficult for the person in position of authority to do this if the parent-child, teacher-child, mental health expert-client relationship is not isolated from members of the wider community.
You Rock Dr. Grande!
I met a man online who calls himself an “undiagnosing” doctor. He claims to be an MD psychiatrist, although I’m not sure that is true. He now is a life coach. He’s found a way to be unethical and make money at it. I’ll never trust another life coach and I realize how lucky I’ve been that the other professionals I’ve seen were professional.
Only Dr. Grande can inject appropriate humor into an attempted murder case. Seriously though, it's unbelievable she didn't receive a longer prison sentence. I can't imagine the guilt Jake's parents feel after placing him in her home & "care".
Thanks for a new video & timely posted. Dr Grande never disappoints

So many people believe that "mental health professionals" are automatically moral and ethical people that lead good lives.
I surely hope Jake gets some lasting help while in prison although that's usually not the case. But sometimes. His life hasn't been easy at all. As for Pamela....her behavior and manipulation are just beyond words. Jake's parents must truly be devastated. I know I would be in their place.
Trolling 4 no attention sad
Charlene- there's another video where Jake's parents are interviewed, and you'd be surprised what a smart, happy, high-achieving kid he was before his 'break'....yes his Mom in particular is very hurt for the situation he's in.
But he'll be free at a young enough age to hopefully get effective counseling that will, because of his relative youth, make a difference.
never realized how good your camera quality is doc
This is frightening. Interesting analysis, way to many drugs for Jake. Why would Pamela give up a good career in order to kill her ex-husband? Yes, I understand she wanted him dead to get the life insurance. But, she wouldn't have never received the life insurance because her and her husband were divorced. Most likely the life insurance would go to the son. How do I know this, I took classes to be an insurance agent, and wad hoping to open my own office. But my ADHD brain said no!
Have a great Wednesday Dr. Grande.
Good analysis, including of pill-pushing psychiatry. Much the same here in Japan, where the emphasis is on quick diagnosis and multiple drugs.

Great Video Dr..🇬🇧👍🏼
This was on Dateline...you give an accurate summation, Dr Grande, too...this is about as bad as it gets with a person in a doctor's care...
I never understand how attempted murder does not get the same sentence as murder. Just because you were incompetent in your attempts at killing someone doesn't make you any better or any less dangerous as someone who didn't fail.
Good Day, Dr. Grande. 👌
I do not understand how she, his aunt, is the one who is his therapist. I cannot get past that part for one. I feel horrible for him being manipulated by his own aunt. Living with her, she would come and get in bed with him etc..
One of my professors made it clear that what we learn in this profession can be dangerous and this is one of the reason we have the amount of ethics classes as we have... I understand giving affirmations but this was just way too much!
What did Jake's parents do? Surely they would want to testify to the history of trying to get help for Jake. As he had been previously diagnosed as bipolar, should that not count as a mitigating factor in determining his sentence? I feel bad for Jake because he put his trust in professionals including his cousin and was manipulated until he wound up in prison. I wonder if his cousin's practice took a nosedive. I hope Calder's father got custody of him and his father regained his health and Calder grows up to be a fine young man. I also hope Jake's finds a therapist who can help him find a happy medium between suicidal depression and manic episodes.
The suggestion that Jake burn her ex in front of witnesses was so the blame would be all on Jake, I'm sure.
It's a typical revenge fantasy used to build up Jake's hate of the victim. Villains burned up in public are a trope of action movies and used to be an actual form of execution. Once you see that as something to aspire to, doing simpler murders will be less of a moral problem.
Bookbinder is a popular last name for psychiatrists.
How could she believe she'd get away with this?
That's a good question.....hard to understand how such a smart person could even think this plan wouldn't backfire.
This is such a messed up story! Thank god nobody died!

Scary she has 5 star reviews as far as a psychiatrist !
There are companies that help therapists/mental health professionals hide bad reviews.
ADHD diagnosis = usually (not always) an excuse for very very poor parenting and an opportunity to put children on medication to dull their stress and make those parents less accountable
Or unrevealed trauma
Boundaries are important in all professional relationships. That and the presumption of special training are the core of professional relationships. Your architect, engineer, financial advisor or faculty advisor are just as restricted by boundaries as is your therapist. I am pretty sure that the therapist here got a social class pass for her evil intent. This is built into the court system just as it's built into all social systems. Where penalties should be heaviest, they are most lenient.
Thank you for sharing
The person who looks the most unstable is Pamela. She didn't seem to care how she got her way, as long as she gained the upper hand by any means necessary. She might have her freedom one day, but not her child. And Michael might be alive and well and have full custody at the moment, but he may spend a great deal of time looking over his shoulder.
If they are both in prison, he would have no need to look over his shoulder, would he?
