Great video really never have even thought about this subject very much. A bit off topic but I’m having a little trouble with my system. Have u 12’s v1 on a salt 4 at .5. Looked at my rise and I rise 1.3-1.7 on 30-37 hz and 1.8-2.2 on 38-46 hz. Was running a smart 3 and my coils would get hot after a while since its 90 and above where I live. Put in the salt yesterday and it was doing great played with it for maybe 1 hour (2 30 min sessions) Both times the subs were warm but not hot. Retuned the amp gain so I didn’t have to crank the knob all the way and put my lpf filter a bit higher since my high notes were as good and now the subs are getting hot super fast. I popped 2 200 amp fuses so I know they are getting a lot of power. 1 song I smell them and 3 songs full tilt and I start getting worried so I play some 20hz tones. Really hate that they are getting so hot and I'm kinda confused why since it wasn’t happening before. I’m not clipping them so they only thing I can think of is I'm just sending them too much power in this oversized box. Any input would be much appreciated.

Sounds like you are over powering them and the temperature outside is not helping them I have taramps and they don't get very hot and it's over 100 degrees in Houston this what you need to do when it's hot out side go and touch the dustcaps and if they are warm and the amplifier is warm then it's the temperature outside and another thing I have two jp23 amplifiers ran them last summer and they were hot that salt amplifier is probably getting extremely hotter than your taramps?it probably pulling way more current than your taramps I don't know how good your electrical system is but Korean amplifiers compared to Brazilian amplifiers are power hungry especially at .5ohms?

Your impedance rise will drop again at higher frequencies. You could only be rising to .8 or something similar. That is why your amp is blowing fuses and you may be putting 5-6k power to those subs. Check out my video here on why voicecoils blow: ruclips.net/video/aCwHReUhNqI/видео.html

Im not having much rise at the high freq but tested it today at 32-38 hz and it was the same thing. Gonna do some testing tmr so I don't get the cops called on me. I have to add more bracing to my box soon how does 4 cubes net at 31hz sound to you?@@caraudiolab

@collinquick7439 Do like I do go to a business that is close and test your system there and make sure your subsonic filter is set properly if it's too low it causes strain on the amplifier if your box is tuned to 40 hertz no lower than 30 to 35 if it's tuned at 32hertz 24 hertz so hertz the equation box at 40 hertz divide 40 x 2 20 then divide 20x2 10 subtract 40 from 10 30 hertz?I'm just trying to help you with your system I'm 57 years old been hooking up systems every since I was 17years years old

Thin coat of oil(WD40, Silicone spray, PB, etc) on magnet and steel baskets. Also original box is great if you plan to sell it 10 yrs down the road. 💵

I have a quick question, do you recommend storing the subwoofer sideways to avoid sag ? Or would it be ok with the cone facing up ?

I keep as much original packaging as possible. Salt Amps, U-Subs ✔️🔊🔊

Great idea! I don't always have the room, but it helps!
