Love my TA31 with a Holosun 507c on top. I gave the ACOG a battery illumination just like the TA02 (instead of taping chemlights to it).It is called the REM ACOG (Reticle Enhancement Module). It has 11 brightness settings so it works in all light conditions. It covers half of the fiber optic so it reduces the Reticle Bloom in bright sunlight. It is made of the same 30% glass filled Polymer as AR pistol grips. Oh... It eliminates the need to replace a dead or dim tritium because you just turn the power to #1 and you have the soft glow for night time aiming. Great upgrade to the TA31! Illumination at your finger tips.
I don't know if I'll go with a 4x due to my shorter line of sight and think the eye relief of the pa 2x fits my needs best but you have finally sold me on prisms with this and other videos, I'm going to go ahead and get one and try it out
This has been the best video I've seen comparing the options. Things I've tried ; Holosun 2moa 403r w/3x , Holosun 510c grn w/3x , primary arms 1x6x24 ACSS reticle (I like it, but eye relief box is so tight). So I've been checking into P.A.3x ACSS (1 small unit) again tight eye relief ! I also get star burst from stig, they say go with a prism type ! I found Monstrum company 3x type w/No ACSS damnit, under 100 it's not needed, however they have a New 3x prism w/6" eye relief called the CYBORG a smaller lighter weight Cristal clear -No stig- 2"moa with the most eye relief of anything I've seen yet , I think under 150yrds w/100yrd. Zero and only $110 it's a good option and worth a try for a short range build I'm working on. The concrete jungle doesn't require anything beyond that distance, but it does require lite weight, fast and easy to use capability of said range. I think so many guys over build for those requirements . They've got more money than common sense.
Appreciate your videos on prism optics. Super informative. Unfortunately, I'm looking for one with a crosshair reticle at any fixed magnification 4x and under, and the only one I can find is the ACOG. If I had to choose, I really like the TA110, but it's a little more that I'm willing to spend at the moment. This is for a 7.62x39 rifle so I doubt I would even want more than a 2.5x.
Thank you, And fair assessment, 2-3X is the sweet spot for a x39 ar or ak. I’d argue even that the best one that I plan to review is the GLx 2X. It’s the right size and weight and has phenomenal glass. The 300BLK reticle for that one works fine for x39 as well. Issue will be lack of crosshairs but it’s worth a look.
@@FlatlanderGear yeah I really like the look of the glx 2x as well. I saw a used one for sale today but unfortunately it was the 556 version. I guess it's easy enough to figure out holds if I went that route. I'm also interested in the swampfox 3x so I'm looking forward to your review on that.
@@cbbbbbbbbbbbb if you want the ACOG, just get the ACOG. Cutting corners will only cost you more money because you'll end up getting the ACOG anyway. I've spent nearly $3,500 on optics in the last 3 years. And half those items ended up in the parts bin. Wish I would've just gotten the ACOG first. I could have saved at least $1,800. And that $1,800 could have gone towards more ammo/training, or appliances for my house
I have an lpvo, although a cheaper vortex style I have it, an eotech with magnifier and I’m considering buying the ta31 acog tomorrow for my mk18. I don’t see a world where I won’t be happy with it.. and hey I’ll have options :)
Yeah the TA31 is my go to daytime optic at this point on carbines. I’m not quite finished with the PA 5X yet though. To be honest I’d have a hard time time not being able to choose between at least 3 sighting systems
I got the TA110 with the cross hair for my Galil. Beautiful sight but i have to collapse my stock to fully see it. Gonna add a spacer and see how that works
Acogs are sweet. But fixed elcans 4x and the hensoldt 4x30 are equally good if not better. Certainly better eyeboxes but about 3 oz heavier. I wish more Americans would try them. They'd probably be more popular. Still love the fiber optic myself though
Vector Optics Paragon 4x could also be interesting budget alternative. With FOV of 28.8ft at 100 yards, 2.65in of eye relief and 8.8oz weight it should be quite usable.
Pretty sure Crimson Trace took over production of the original Sig Bravo4 star wars looking prism optic. Not endorsing CT as a company but the body looks identical. PSA has them on sale for $170 bucks.
Will be reviewing one in the future. Initially I can say: Good FOV Not too heavy ACSS Aurora Curious about the 1X and glass quality Eyebox at 6X where the reticle is calibrated for
There are ACOGs with reticles for it which have sub and supersonic holds. Those are quite neat but with some paperwork, you can 100% use a 5.56 reticle to over 250 with subs and 600 with supers. Those are both of course beyond the effective range of the cartidge
Fantastic analysis, thank you for doing that and sharing the results.

I’d love to try that attachment in a review. I was hoping for my tritium to die so there is less bloom at night if there are NV settings
