We have just bought this vehicle March 2017 new costing £37.600 with every extra available sensing etc etc. I have never had a Honda always M Class Toyota Audi but i have to tell the viewers it is without doubt the best built, best ride, best practicality its the 160 bhp 9 speed auto. It is incredible to drive does everything you could need.... Unlike the reviewer it is an absolute doddle to work the touch screen sat nav phone etc not difficult at all..the keyless entry and memory seats are an absolute god send. The exon lights are incredible and when they light up the side of the road when you turn not a gimmick but very useful...If you are thinking of a Crossover this is the one its built better than all the other vehicles I have owned and whats more its a nice place to be in.
I bought mine used with every extra added and looks exactly like the one in this video! In comparison to what else is out there with similar spec, it's a fantastic car. My only annoyance with it is the economy at speed. Because it's such a big car, it tends to drink fuel quickly on a run. But otherwise, a fantastic car and better than the newer hybrid models that struggle to match the economy of the diesel.
@@somevids4187 I no longer have the car. I was able to get 50mpg if I kept at 60mph on a run. My Volvo S90 beforehand could easily average 60-65 mpg at 70mph. I now own a hybrid 🙈 and that's giving me about the same economy as the diesel
I love the crv. Yes it may be abit more expensive than others but it is the hond quality that you pay for which is top class and is better than any toyota or Mercedes benz or vw. I would buy a crv without even thinking about it. Long live Honda.
Just bought the manual 2.2 Diesel EX. Very nice car to drive. Entertainment system is actually really good and has a lot of features which my gadget loving wife likes. Very quiet to drive and packs a punch when you need it.
Hi Matt, I happened to spot a small error when the camera shifted over to the trip computer to display the fuel economy. The display was not that of the CRV, but i reckon of a RAV4.... 5:24 Must have been a mix up while editing the video. That said, it was a great review!!!
We have the black edition executive model CRV and we just love it. The added whale tale on the back makes all the difference to its looks. Very very comfortable!
Everyone is obsessed with diesel! I found the 2.2 i-DTEC has a fair amount of turbo lag and was also very noisy at tick over. I can't comment on the 1.6 diesel as I never test drove it but for a car this size and weight I feel a 1.6 will be working rather hard. The 2.0 petrol can still shift if you put your foot to the floor, it just doesn't feel like it because of the linear manner upon which it accelerates. It's a far more refined and relaxed drive which suits this car. The CRV was never about performance, get a Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT if you want all out performance in an SUV at similar money but be prepared for woeful reliability. I do wish Honda offered the 2.4 petrol in the CRV in the UK though.
Dear Mat, I like your reviews and therefore I'm reluctant to criticise, however...... there are three errors in this review. Firstly at 2:13 you say that the range topping EX costs £35,000 and you seem astonished by the high price. Well no one pays that. One well-known online car dealer delivers an EX to your door for £26,001 (for the manual petrol). Even the EX automatic diesel 160 you are testing costs only £28,579. And amazingly, the bottom of the range S trim manual petrol costs only £20,128. Secondly, at 5:51 you say that you only get the automatic emergency braking on the top trim level. Not true! All trim levels get the city brake system. Thirdly, you say that both diesel and petrol automatics get the weird gear selector knob. Not true! The petrol model has a very conventional auto gear knob. Also do you think it may have been worth mentioning that 3 of the 4 trim levels get a reversing camera as standard?
As mentioned.. You are talking about the American model, but! The revamp in body makes all the difference. The USA-version just looks alot better, in my opinion. =)
I've always loved hondas and it's no different with the CR-V. Yeah it can be a little more expensive than the competition but it's one of the biggest and most spacious CUV in it's class! Plus the almost unrivaled combination of solidity and comfort you get from hondas. I personally might opt for the CX-5 just because i like this current gen's overall package better, but hopefully the next gen CR-V gets stuff from the newer civic. That would be a gem.
Thx Matt for this Review...perfect as allways (loved the E. Honda-Easteregg). Against your advice, i ordered the 120 PS Diesel...with the "Black Edition" Package! Keep up the good Work!
The 'Main' button is not specific to the cruise control, if you press the right toggle of the same button, you can switch between cruise and speed limiter. Nice review though Mat-la, hopefully this 160 PS diesel engine will appear in the next Civic
Great review. I got the 2016 CRV VTI-L ( I'm live in Australia by the way) and we don't have as many of the Diesel variants here. Mostly all 2L or 2.4L petrol. Mine is the 2.4L 4WD and it's not noisy at all. The ride and handling is good. I've only used the paddles once just for a bit of fun. All in All I really can't fault my CRV and I'm really happy with it. I should have bought one years ago I think.
Innova is shit. I see a review and for a 300-400 million (rupiah) price range, it uses a cheap ass plastic. Thats why Toyota doesnt sell 'em in Europe. Fortuner? Well okay it's really beautiful but they lack of ESC (if you want ESC buy the 4x4), 3 airbags (seriously? for this a half billion (rupiah) car price range), rear brake is still drum, not disc (WTF? This is the same as Innova). Anyway I'm talking about the Indonesian spec. Your country's spec might be different
I don’t mind the noise 2.0 litre petrol engine with a manual transmission but the question is is the petrol engine worth it cause the uk has this shit ULEZ that’s the reason why I don’t want to get the diesel. Any help??
Really like your reviews. One comment related to shift steering wheel paddles: “never ever use?” What about driving downhill and using engine to slow down?
Seriously? I always thought it stood for CompactRecreational-Vehicle. Because, in the land of the free, this is considered a 'mid-size' SUV. It sits below those gigantic body on Frame full size SUVs like the Lincoln Navigator, Chevy Tahoe, Escalade etc.
the CR-V is actually a "compact" suv here in the US. something like the explorer or derango are a midsize suv and then the tahoe and expedition are full size.
Um I don't know what part of the US you live in but this is a compact SUV over here. They even say it in their TV ads. The Pilot is their midsize offering. And a suburban or expedition would be considered a full size offering from other manufacturers.
I've got the black edition 1.6 idtec, manual which has plenty of poke in it over the the petrol version. For practicality it's better then it's rivals probably not as much fun to drive as the Mazda cx 5.
I'm thinking of moving towards buying a Mazda CX-5 as apparently they handle really well around corners, the 2.2 diesel engine is very quiet and some have great mpg figures/low tax. I really like Honda as a brand and may still get a CRV but to get leather seats it would be the EX model which is more expensive to tax and insure and the CX-5.
Honda CR-V has a great engine range!!! 1.6 diesel turbocharged 1.6 diesel twin turbo charged 2.2 diesel turbocharged 2.0 petrol non turbo. Which if you ask me is the best!!!!! What more range would you want??? Plus it’s a very very reliable car! Cheap to maintain too.

Bit overly harsh I think! Paddles are very handy for slowing down on steep hills and I think this is why manufacturers fit them particularly in automatic cars especially if one is towing so its nice to get a bit of engine breaking when you need it cornering and stuff and generally slowing down take some of the load off of the brakes, handling in "real life" is very good one would be doing something very stupid to you get oneself in trouble... body roll is good for this type of vehicle its a great compromise between handling and great comfort and refinement, the engines petrol or diesel are legendary for reliability one of the best in this sector no doubt about it, economy in "real life on the public highway driven normally" is fairly true to Honda's figures high 50's-60's on a run high 40's around town, should one buy this car? Well it's a a very comfortable, very reliable and very economical well built and safe car and should certainly should be on your very short list!
They say the boot holds 589 liters you try putting a 200liter water tank into it ,but then no different to the rest they will never give the opening dimensions width height and depth .NOR does any reviewers of cars .
Acharaz Varun Lets go back to the 2nd generation of CR-V. But at that time people complain it because it's really cramped, the suspension will be hard.
