I have a crv-4. About the battery, the cause is probably Honda dual load system, which means it often does not load the battery to keep the battery at an more fual consumption optimal x % load state. But that is not good for your battery life. You can easily monitor it by measuring the voltage at the power sockets while driving . Very often I find the Honda deciding ,even after a start, using the seats heating or a long drive to not load the battery ( and my battery is old and is in poor state). I am an engineer myself and found it very amazing, as maintaining a battery well is a big reliability thing. Fortunate there is a way to solve this Honda intelligent dual load problem: Turn your lights on. Then it will always go in 14.1volt loading.
I’m glad you mentioned the clutch judder. I got a 14 plate 1.6 crv 3 months back and does exactly that, a little clutch judder when cold. Glad to hear it’s nothing to worry about 👍
I have the 1.6 64 plate and have the same cold clutch judder . You always tend to think worse case scenario, like oil seals leaking oil into the bell housing and contaminating the clutch. It is comforting to know that other owners have experienced this problem and is nothing serious.
I've just bought a 2014 Honda CR-V 1.6 Diesel with 120 PS with 96k km on the clock a view days ago. The efficiency is great. On the way back home from the dealership (400 km) it averaged 5.5 ltr/100 km. I was driving 120 kmh most of the time. Great for a car with that size.
Had a 96 Mk 1 2.2 Exec & it was an absolute tank. I got it 2nd hand & had it for almost 9 years. The MOT each year was never an issue. Until last week it failed for corrosion in the suspension & chasis plus power steering issues. We scrapped her & updated to a newer model, which is a great improvement & drives well. I can't recommend the Honda CRV enough there great cars.
I passed my driving test at 53 and our first car (after being pointed in the right direction) is a mk2 pre face lift CRV (2003). It’s a 2.0 petrol auto and after 22 months of owning it and just over 20k miles later we’ve had to dish out nearly £3k to get it in a position where it’s not being worked on. After driving it on the motorway after buying it way back in March 2022 just two days after a clean advisory free MOT we had it checked over by a Honda specialist (10 days later) where they found several faults, one being a stuck caliper (dealer said the noise was from the roof bars on the test drive) and due to the stuck caliper it then needed new discs and pads. Also the front shock was leaking oil and that the rear prop shaft was missing (meaning is isn’t a AWD but just a front wheel drive only) since then it’s had two new O2 sensors,a new third party CAT, a third gear sensor and like you mentioned in this video the Compressor had failed but not before shelling out for a new Condenser. The only other expense has been a full set of Yokohama all season tyres at £500. It’s currently showing 133,600 miles on the clock and it’s due its next MOT next week but I’ve noticed a judder in reverse when I turn the steering wheel left or right, just hoping it’s nothing serious. Then only downside we’ve found owning a CRV is the MPG and road tax. At £395 it’s almost Range Rover standard 😂 But I have to say,the K20A engine is amazing, considering it’s got 2T to pull.
I bought a full spec 2009 CR-V 5yrs ago, and has never failed an MOT. I have only spent £8.50 ( ball joint ) on it so far, although I am thinking about an oil change. Now that IS bullet proof.
I’m on my 16th CRV in a row since the 51 plate & I can honestly say the only problem I have had was a bad set of brake discs which were part of a bad batch, dealer spotted it at the first service & swapped them out under warranty! I’ve a 22 plate CRV EX Hybrid and I love it! Love the vids guys, keep it up!👍😊👏👏👏❤
@@ScottishCarClan I always get the range topping EX model! It really comes with all the bells & whistles. I’ve looked at X5’s & Touregs and such like but by the time you have specced them up to the same as the CRV EX, you are talking the best part of £60K!😩
Wow,! Another fantastic review mate. As a Honda enthusiast for 20 years owning 13 hondas from accords, civics diesel and type r. Now own a 1.6d. tech, civic excellent car, but I've had 2 and both had emission warning light, caused by a lambda sensor. COST TO FIX.. £600 PER SENSOR.. The only fault I've ever had on all my 13 hondas in 20 years so it was a shock. Loving the content it's so good and about real world motoring.
My wife and I have had loads of Hondas both in South Africa and here in the UK. From a 150i Ballade, a 1.8 vxi Civic. 4 8th gen Accords, one being a Type S, and also a mk3 Crv and I now have a mk4. Your are spot on with your video. Oh I have also had, 2 7th gen accords, one bing a petrol guzzling 2.4 beast. Keep up with the videos. Much appreciated. My wife now drives the last 8th gen Ex Accord model in the UK. We dream of the newer ones, but nothing, no other car beats the styling of the 8th gen Accord.
I have the pre facelift 2.2 diesel, 6 spd manual, and I concur with everything you say, right down to the juddery clutch when cold. The car has 74,000 miles on it, and has been absolutely bulletproof, reliability-wise. The 2.2 diesel also pulls like a train, especially in 4th, 5th and 6th gears, with a lovely wave of torque making overtaking effortless. It is being changed this week for the facelift, 1.6 160bhp diesel, with the 9-speed auto. It's 2015, one single lady owner from new, full Honda service history, and is like new, and supplied by the motor group I work for, so I can buy with confidence. Really looking forward to getting it. It will be my 3rd CRV. I've looked around at other makes, but not of them do so many things, so well, as the CRV, so, why change?
If your using the car for really short journeys turn your lights on main beam in stead of the day time running lights that way your alternator will charge the battery by creating the 14 volts needed, I found out the hard way, lol
1.6 dtec engines at some point tend to lose oil from oil cooler. o-rings needs to be changed in such a case and maybe the oil cooler plate. if you see oil drops on your oil pan , check oil cooler first.
I’ve got the 2016 CRV Exec 1.6D after coming out of Discos and Range Rovers. Everything you mentioned made me laugh and smile, the horn (what a noddy horn) the battery yep had two new ones. It’s just bomb proof, cheap motoring, super smooth, economical and very low depreciation. Mine did recently stop (start stop function) and think it was in gear so wouldn’t switch off or on (the ignition) RAC turned up, disconnected the battery, reconnected and booster pack, boom off again. I now carry a 10mm socket and a Goolio GT400 in the car. Great video, loved the cameo from the wolf hound too. 😊
Great video mate and very informative, and i am a fellow scot in the west of Glasgow. I have a 2013 1.6 i-dtec 2wd 120bhp model, it had 29,000k on the clock when i bought it, had it for 6 years now and it's got 97,000k on it now. I have had a lot of cars in my 40 years of driving and hand on heart my crv has not only been the longest car iv'e owned but the best car i have ever owned, and here is why, It's by far been the most reliable, the most comfortable, most relaxing on long journeys, most economical car iv'e ever owned, average every journey about 57mpg on long motorway runs somtimes 61mpg can't argue with that, boot space is brilliant and at a pull of a lever in the boot the rear seats fold compleatly flat and at that you can get a washing machine or a fridge freezer in it, it handles well and the driving possition is great, i find there is very little road noise and the steering is nice and balanced, i think most mk4 models also come with a space saver spare wheel and not one of those usless bottles of gunk that a lot of cars seem to get these days. Now a few slight niggles i have found, the headlights aren't that bright, but can be solved with replacing with brighter bulbs, as for the clutch judder pulling away in 1st gear, well mines was ok up until about 8 months ago and then it started happening but its only when cold, iv'e learnt to live with it 🙂 as for the battery, mine packed in during covid because the car didn't get used much and by then it was 8 years old. So to conclude, these are fantastic cars and very reliable, i love mines to bits and for anyone who is thinking of buying one, GO for it i'm sure you will love it. Just subscribed to your channel and keep up the good videos. 🤘🤜
I had an 11 plate diesel auto EX up until two years ago and it was probably the best car I have ever owned. It had done 115,000 miles when I sold it and it still drove like new. The only problem I had was a leaking power steering pipe. Brilliant car, just changed the oil once a year.
What a great review, really comprehensive and from a Honda fanboy, I was so chuffed you praised this car. I live out in the sticks in Angus and I think this car will be ideal. We’ve had the mark one and mark two and they were better than any of the competition. I fancied a change and got a mark 3 RAV 4, which my wife liked and it looked good and was reliable, but when it finally started playing up, it had the potential to be expensive, so we sold it off for parts. However, overall build quality, I think the CRV felt like a premium product in comparison and much bigger inside. The term ‘scratchy plastics’ was made for the mark 3 RAV4, not a fan I’m afraid. Our main car at the moment is a 2017 Honda Civic with the 1.6 idtec and I’ve gotta say it’s the best car I’ve ever had, mega reliable, amazing economy and smooth and quiet, far better than any Golf I’ve had. We need a bit more room, even though the Civic boot is huge, I’m looking at shifting stuff regularly and this model of CRV couldn’t be better for our needs. I think we will be buying one in the next couple of months, so your video has just confirmed that we are just about to make the right choice, many thanks!
The only issue where there is a real winter with snow and some salt on roads, might be corrosion. Steel elements under the car and body elements are not very well prepared for that. The effect is that after 10 of use you can find some corrosion bubbles outside, and generally red coloured chassis
I have a December 2013 (as per the build plate) Mk4 with the 2.0 litre, 5 speed auto. It's dull to drive but that's OK because I'm an old man ! Complaints: as the presenter said, the battery is tiny, but that won't be a problem until it fails. The only thing I really dislike is that the headlamps are pretty dim. (Not just my CR-V: Mrs Next Door bought one and got some uprated globes after just a couple of weeks. I'm a cheapskate and I'll wait until one blows before I swap them.) The aircon is not as cold as I'd like: I'm going to get it re-gassed (because I live in Aus, and it was 40C last week). Otherwise I have had no problems in the two years I have owned it, other than the catches that release the back seats both broke within a week of each other. Just a bit of plastic suffering "10-year-old-itis" Lot of buggering around, but fixed with a couple of cable ties, so as cheap as you can get. Overall - over 16,000 km - I get 8.6 kilometres per 100 litres. which equates to 33 MPG Would I buy another? Definitely, but I'm hoping this one will last me out !
Great guide. Have had a mk4 since it was 6 months old and it's now 10yrs old and been super reliable. Don't really agree with battery comment as I'm still on the original one !. I do know that if you connect phone the bluetooth seems to drain it... would definitely recommend one and over 107 k the 2.2 has averaged 46mpg.
Had my 14 plate 1.6 (120) for 5 years, 40k+miles (now 90k+) Not a single issue. Only recently got the judder but isn't too bad. I did find it a bit bland after going from a 11 plate clubman 1.6d which was great to drive but feel this is a safer bet reliability wise.
I own a mk4 2.0 (re5), the only small issues I experienced and where to me known before are warped rotors front , grinding brakes rear (easy 2fix) and number 1 Issue replacement If the led 3ed braking light. For the rest an awesome car and drives like a charm
Thanks for the video! I appreciated the comment on the 2.4 litres engine in the North American model since we have this model in Québec. I found two used CR-V nearby that I want to try. I'll pay attention for the rattle sound.
Great video. We have sold thousands of Crv’s and agree with pretty much all you said. A couple of things. If you get a bit of judder prior to the auto box changing gear on the 5 speeds a really simple ATF oil change sorts it ! I had one which was very noticeable and had been left like it for years. I changed the oil drove it for a while then changed it again and it completely cures it. But most only need one change. Re the clutch judder which is most prominent on the 1.6 diesels, if you raise the revs in third or fourth gear and allow it to ‘slip’ for a second or two you can take away the judder for a while too Keep up the good work
Thanks for the video, as we live in western Canada, and have the 2014 CRV. Yes, our car every once in a while (has for 2 years now) made that wee rattle, but it's seldom and something we've just gotten use to, and hasn't affected the drivability of the car in the least. I've heard of two fellows that changed their actuators, and within a couple thousand km's, it's returned again. One fellow has said he puts a wee bit higher viscosity oil when he does oil changes, so the oil tends to stay in the area's it's needed, and it solved his rattle issue, albeit I don't know if it's returned or not, as it was mentioned some time ago. We have the 2.4 version with the automatic, now at 80,000 'miles' (we bought our CRV preowned in the U.S.) as we bought a Class A diesel motorhome, and the Honda CRV is towed behind the motorhome, and has been for many thousands of miles, with no issues, so 2014 is the last year that towing like this is possible we're told! So far, after the 5 years we've had ours, we've only put 1 battery in the car, and windshield wipers, and that's it other than fuel. I agree that they're a great car to own, albeit out EX version is a little light on options, in that 'navigation' would have been a nice choice, but we have had such great luck with this car, it can be overlooked.
I’m looking at 2 litre petrol version. I only drive 30 miles a day, non of which are motorway miles but I want something that will pull ok on the motorway and also have room for holidays
I've had two Mk3 CRVs with the petrol engine, one '57 and one '12 plate - BOTH suffered from notchy Honda EPS steering. The last quote from a Honda garage (the only place that can fix Honda EPS) was £2,800+ to change the steering rack - along with a warning that I might have to wait months for a new steering rack. When it comes to repairs, Honda CRVs are most definitely NOT cheap
Got a 2013 2.2Diesel EX AWD auto, 2nd owner at 3yrs old and I’ve put 90k on the clock no worries. Super smooth and worry free apart from the known exhaust gas leak that can occur, not too expensive though and fine since. Car is like a Tardis, huge inside.
I have had Honda CRVs for 21 years. The first one I got in 2003, not brand new but about 6 months old, it was fine for ages but on it’s last MOT my garage mechanic told me that several things would need to be done to it for it to pass the following year ( I trusted this guy, he’d done my MOT for years), it was going to be expensive so we decided, given its age, to replace it. So I purchased the newer one in 2017, but it was 4 years old then. They both needed new batteries fairly soon after I got them but generally never really needed much doing to them. One thing I have noticed though, it the the newer one seems to be underpowered on comparison to my original one. They were both 2 litre petrol engines. I wonder if anyone else has noticed the same thing? I am about to get my 3rd CRV, this time a petrol hybrid.
Great video... Picked up a 2.2 iDTEC auto about 6 weeks ago. Lovely car generally (despite the fact that the battery must have been on it's last legs because I've had to replace it). But you've got me worried now. I drive at a very leisurely pace and I've just started to notice some juddering when the CVT tries to make up it's mind before changing up. If I gas it a bit it, it'll kick down and pick up the pace normally, but something's not right there.
Ive Got Renault red Kadjar top of the Range GT Model. On Lease ( only way i could get this particular Model) And i love it and im at Age looking for my Last Car.But cannot afford a New one,So looking and hearing different Models and THE ONLY one with good reviews WITH the toys i want Sunroof,Rear Camera,Heated seats Plus! Is the CR V EX model obviously Petrol Auto. Watching this Video has Convinced Me! Thank you CR V it is then in Red Or White 🙏
Have a 2021 AWD Hybrid and yeah would not swap it for anything takes me to France effortlessly in comfort for the price it’s right up there with the best. some may not like the CVT but it’s not a sports car so ok with me.
Brilliant video, I wish there was bit more about 1.6 diesel engines. I currently own Accord 2.2 and planning to buy CRV. Is 1.6 little to small for quite big car like CRV? Would be 1.6 diesel-17 plate with 132000 already on the clock to tired ?
Any views on the 1.5 petrol engine? Heard these have issues with oil dilution and as they are direct injection carbon build up plus Honda moved away quickly on this engine.
Bang on I drive crvs for the nhs and definitely flatten batterys especially the 1.6 I blame the running lights it can be fixed police do a double battery thing so if one goes flat the other one kicks in
Love one of these. However clutch judder????couldnt live with that. My accord had to have several rear calipers 2007 plate and suffered battery drain. Found out was something to do with telephone button and under steering column. Rust caused me to sell it. 2.4 was a beast of a car. Not too bad on fuel for the performance.
I've had my 2.0 auto petrol over 8 years now and it's been great. I do find it funny how the reviews don't pick up on the 2.2 idtec clutch issues and the self adjusting spring issue. Has this been fixed? I came accross several low milage owners with the clutch slipping prematurely.
I've got the juddering clutch too, more of a problem though is the gearbox on my 1.6 diesel crv has stated making expensive noises and needs repairing at a transmission specialist, only done 82,000 miles, no towing at all, very disappointing 😢
Hi had my work horse of a car mk 3 2.2not once in the 220k miles it had done did I ever feel she would let me down even mechanic's love working on them built to last nothing but quality these guys build for the owners not for the accountants managers so today bought a mrk4 perfect way to end a weekend
I think the major issue is to keep regular oil change. At least every 10k km, that's what i do. It certanly prolongs chain life. I have 1.6 diesel 120km. As for 125k i have had one problem with charging. Alternator went down and that all folks for now! I do not think IT is to week engine for this car. IT is more important IT Has 300nm od torqe. And if you keep fixed 90km per hour you will get under 4.5 per 100km. Cheers!
Thank you for the video - great editing, great info... inclined me to subscribe. I'm in a search for a new family car; after 11 years our modest Suzuki Swift has started to show his age, and kids are getting bigger, and its getting crammy inside of the car. I am considering a CR-V, 2.0 engine, manual gearbox (I'm a bit paranoid about CVT) - would you say it would be a good purchase for 17.5 - 19 000 euro, with mileage at about 50-60 000 kilometres? My only concern is that the car would get "choked" with the pattern of our daily drives, which are quite short, with a lot of start - stop of the car? Thank you in advance for your answer! Once again, the video was great.
How I solve the clutch jaddering is to make it slip on a third gear for a little bit, a few times actually and it gives me 2-3 weeks of smooth ride on cold start. I hope it will help somebody :)
Thanks for this informative video. I'm looking at getting a CR-V around 2016 model VTI-L with the 2.4L engine. (I live in Australia by the way) as my big 4L 6 cyl is just getting to expensive for me to run. I won't go beyond the 2016 as I don't want the 1.5L turbo. I heard too many people say they are to too underpowered and the 2.4L can run rings around the 1.5L in both performance and fuel economy. I'm also going for an Auto as my left knee is in too much pain to work a clutch all the time.
Question, what sort of MPG are you getting from the 2.0 petrol you own , as we had a Mk 2 , brilliant car but thirsty, currently got the Mk 3 , 2.2 diesel looking to change to Mk 4 but not sure wether to go petrol or Diesel this time . Great video very informative. Thanks 👍
The wife has one 2.2 diesel it's been awesome especially now it's been re mapped .it went well before but now it so much fun. Especially other drivers the look on there faces 😂
Great video on the mk4 as I am thinking of buying of buying one as I am selling my mk3 ES as mine was a seaside car 😞 and my clutch is a bit grabby when I start in the morning
I love the USA I have a 2013 crv I think it's a EX-L idk it's got all the dodabs and stuff 2.4L 5speed auto AWD the only thing I have had to deal with is shuttering torque converter and my power steering has stoped working and it's electric that happened a year ago other then that it's amazing the gas milage is amazing to my other friends have vw and Subaru stuff like that one friend has a RAV4 my crv and his RAV4 are never in the shop while everyone else's is
Hi ! Tnx for a great video !. Was just looking at a 2014 1.6 i-DTEC but i felt that the clutch pedal was heavy to push down compared to my car (megane). Is this normal for this car or is it something that might be repaired or adjusted ?
Brilliant guide, very helpful. I have one question though: how is seat comfort for long rides? I'm replacing car just because of seats. Used to have Zafira B since 2005 until last year, which was amazing on long drives, then bought a slightly used Zafira C. Seemed good at test drive, but seat ended up being absolutely horrible on long drives, eventually causing health issues. After a year of ownership, I can barely even sit for 1 hour in that garbage. Now I look very carefully at seats, CR-V and Forester are the only viable options so far with what seems to be very comfortable seats. Would be nice to hear about seat comfort from owners.
Thanks you so much for the Honda Crv video I'm thinking about buying 64 "plate Crv Ex Idtec 2-2 with Manual transmission I have got a Honda civic 2005 (55) at the moment I don't want to drive into London so would it be a good buy? And are maintenance cost reasonably priced
Hi i have a mk2 i love the car but my catalytic converter go stolen so i am bit worried of getting another crv . Any advice on mk4 or mk5 is the catalytic safe ?
We have a 1999 Crv , when it rains the inside mats are covered with water quickly. Not to mention years of overheating problems. We have cleaned the radiator so many times. Also lots of oil leaks.
Has anyone had any ECU issues? My 2013 I-Dtec Ex which has only done 73,000 miles has been diagnosed as needing it's second replacement ECU, the first was at 33,000 and now at 73,000. Honda UK are trying to fob me off but surely this lifespan doesn't qualify as lasting a satisfactory length of time!
Is it possible to change from an automatic transmission to a standard manual I live in the states I have a 2.4 automatic I know I would have to buy all the parts from overseas. I don’t mind that but someone told me I would need the wiring harness to, is it possible to get done? My car is so beautiful so reliable. I have it all decked out. It’s so pretty but I fucking hate driving in because it’s boring.
I have 2013 2.2 Diesel EX, and owned it for 4 years, and it has been faultless, but the clutch judder was getting worse and worse, so I bit the bullet and booked it in for clutch and flywheel replacement, but when I picked the car up not only is the problem still there its getting worse, the garage are not very helpful and say they don't know what the problem could be, anyone else got any suggestions ?
Ah! The sound on that reverse..I love it as it makes me remember the great old classic car reverse noise.

BRILLIANT (no pun intended)
Does that work with turning on side lights?
Is that 50mpg in old English!!??
Had a 96 Mk 1 2.2 Exec & it was an absolute tank. I got it 2nd hand & had it for almost 9 years. The MOT each year was never an issue. would love to know your thoughts on the new model, mine is 2018 2.0 petrol iv-itec with 55k miles and tempted to update to an RS 2.0 Hybrid
Is yours petrol or diesel?
After 5 years you only thinking about changing your oil? 😳

@BruceWayne-sz3th ???
Thank you. I have opportunity to buy a friend’s 2.4 CRV. Loved your feedback. Makes me comfortable to go ahead and
If your using the car for really short journeys turn your lights on main beam in stead of the day time running lights that way your alternator will charge the battery by creating the 14 volts needed, I found out the hard way, lol
Will it work on side lights? Or main headlights only?
Glascow lads are just the greatest .I am English and had no problem ever with these friendly heros
I'm a cheapskate and I'll wait until one blows before I swap them.)
The aircon is not as cold as I'd like: I'm going to get it re-gassed (because I live in Aus, and it was 40C last week).
Otherwise I have had no problems in the two years I have owned it, other than the catches that release the back seats both broke within a week of each other. Just a bit of plastic suffering "10-year-old-itis" Lot of buggering around, but fixed with a couple of cable ties, so as cheap as you can get.
Overall - over 16,000 km - I get 8.6 kilometres per 100 litres. which equates to 33 MPG
Would I buy another? Definitely, but I'm hoping this one will last me out !
How did you fix the seat back release with cable ties? I've been using a flat plastic interior tool to Jimmy them open
I personally love the horn sound and the noise in reverse gear too, reminds me of the good old classic car noises..👍
You are the dogs plums. Do the best reviews on the internet. Love you to do Skoda superb 3.
Thank you mate 🙏 😊
Mine is 10 years old now. The only issue was the third brake light, which is a very common issue. That's it.
Did you ever have any problems with the dpf?
Brilliant channel mate well done ✅
Much appreciated - thank you! :)
Had my 14 plate 1.6 (120) for 5 years, 40k+miles (now 90k+)
Not a single issue.
Only recently got the judder but isn't too bad.
I did find it a bit bland after going from a 11 plate clubman 1.6d which was great to drive but feel this is a safer bet reliability wise.
I own a mk4 2.0 (re5), the only small issues I experienced and where to me known before are warped rotors front , grinding brakes rear (easy 2fix) and number 1
Issue replacement
If the led 3ed braking light.
For the rest an awesome car and drives like a charm
Many thanks, been thinking of buying a CRV, now confident that I can get a good one.
1.6 diesel gets 56mpg all day every day. Absolutely unbelievable from a smallish SUV with such a large boot space volume! I love ours 💁🏼♂️
Had two still got one great cars
DPF problems on the diesels though so not worth it
I've just paid a deposit on a 2010 CRV 2l dtec diesel 100k miles, this all sounds great! Will look for aftermarket horn 😂
Thanks for the video! I appreciated the comment on the 2.4 litres engine in the North American model since we have this model in Québec. I found two used CR-V nearby that I want to try. I'll pay attention for the rattle sound.
Great to see your very local too me . Keep the good work up
Great video.
Re the clutch judder which is most prominent on the 1.6 diesels, if you raise the revs in third or fourth gear and allow it to ‘slip’ for a second or two you can take away the judder for a while too
Keep up the good work
Yep, seems to be a Honda problem usually caused by the cold and damp. Goes away when it warms up.
Thank you for saying which engines arnt ULEZ compliant
Hey can you hear a turbain like sound when accelerating? Is it normal. Some kind of whistling sound
2.0 ivtec is a amazing engine in the older CRV your CRV 2.0 ivtec videos are class m8ty.😁
Start with a fluid flush and go from there. You’ll probably find that resolves it just fine!
CRV is great, rear differential thrust weels when turning.
Bang on I drive crvs for the nhs and definitely flatten batterys especially the 1.6 I blame the running lights it can be fixed police do a double battery thing so if one goes flat the other one kicks in
Quick tip if you pull away in third gear for a couple of yards the clutch judder disappears (on a cold day)
Love one of these. However clutch judder????couldnt live with that. My accord had to have several rear calipers 2007 plate and suffered battery drain. Found out was something to do with telephone button and under steering column. Rust caused me to sell it. 2.4 was a beast of a car. Not too bad on fuel for the performance.
What is fuel economy like for the petrol and diesel?
I own one and A/C didnt work when I've picked it up . Fortunately dealer replaced the whole compressor for me cost free
The egr pipe can split on the diesel models. Its quite a big job to remove and replace (budget £600 to replace)
Thanks for the comment
Hi have you listed black 350z nismo on auto trader .. looks 👌
My avensis used to make that noise in reverse too
I've had my 2.0 auto petrol over 8 years now and it's been great.
Very good points and advice. What about an automatic version (petrol engine)? Do you or your subscribers have any pointers?
Hi had my work horse of a car mk 3 2.2not once in the 220k miles it had done did I ever feel she would let me down even mechanic's love working on them built to last nothing but quality these guys build for the owners not for the accountants managers so today bought a mrk4 perfect way to end a weekend
Would love to hear what you think of the Volvo S40 Rdesign
I think the major issue is to keep regular oil change. At least every 10k km, that's what i do. It certanly prolongs chain life. I have 1.6 diesel 120km. As for 125k i have had one problem with charging. Alternator went down and that all folks for now! I do not think IT is to week engine for this car. IT is more important IT Has 300nm od torqe. And if you keep fixed 90km per hour you will get under 4.5 per 100km. Cheers!
Yes my mk3 has clutch judder when cold also compressor went early on had no ac for 3 year wanter £500 just for part.
I own the black edition Crv on 16 plate love it great car 👍👍🤞🤞🤣👍
I need your headlights! The USA only got basic halogen headlights for the 2012-2014 model years.
How I solve the clutch jaddering is to make it slip on a third gear for a little bit, a few times actually and it gives me 2-3 weeks of smooth ride on cold start. I hope it will help somebody :)
Do the British 2 litre petrol CRV's have the VTC actuator problem or is it only the American ones?
Thank you.
Only 2.4
Fantastic channel, thank you
Thanks for this informative video.
The weird reverse sound, my CR-Z does it, and I think my 1st Gen Jazz did too
Question, what sort of MPG are you getting from the 2.0 petrol you own , as we had a Mk 2 , brilliant car but thirsty, currently got the Mk 3 , 2.2 diesel looking to change to Mk 4 but not sure wether to go petrol or Diesel this time . Great video very informative. Thanks 👍
I get clutch shudder on my 1.0 ecoboost. You didn't meantion mpg?
The wife has one 2.2 diesel it's been awesome especially now it's been re mapped .it went well before but now it so much fun. Especially other drivers the look on there faces 😂
It's the engine I would have went for were it not for the ULEZ :-( The 2.0 petrol does OK!
Great video on the mk4 as I am thinking of buying of buying one as I am selling my mk3 ES as mine was a seaside car 😞 and my clutch is a bit grabby when I start in the morning
How are they for towing, looking at one for towing horse box
What about cvt transmission ??
What about the cabine silence? Can you hear the tires rolling and wind resistance noise?
my civic mk9 1.6d (2013) judders when cold and damp
The problems you list, are nothing to worry about, in fact, they are not problems you are in stead, ranting about a car, is 100 % good.
Advice change your radiator and coolant hooooooses, the best petrol r20 engines from honda
Generally no need to change the hoses, but do change the hose clips from the factory ones to proper Jubilee clips
I love the USA I have a 2013 crv I think it's a EX-L idk it's got all the dodabs and stuff 2.4L 5speed auto AWD the only thing I have had to deal with is shuttering torque converter and my power steering has stoped working and it's electric that happened a year ago other then that it's amazing the gas milage is amazing to my other friends have vw and Subaru stuff like that one friend has a RAV4 my crv and his RAV4 are never in the shop while everyone else's is
hope that lovely dog wasent lost and is ok.Great vidio and good info(except about the dog)ta
The owner appeared. The lovely dog went home happy fear not 😂
Thats brill,thanks for update,your very good.eoin@@ScottishCarClan
Why those are so expensive?
Thanks mate! I'm going to sell my audi a4 b9 and buy this thing!
MINE its AWD 185 CV,,,,or HP lol HONDA CRV 2016 2.4 L GAS
Hi ! Tnx for a great video !. Was just looking at a 2014 1.6 i-DTEC but i felt that the clutch pedal was heavy to push down compared to my car (megane). Is this normal for this car or is it something that might be repaired or adjusted ?
I am searching for a used crv 4th generation. Which year(a) should I get. Thanks in advance, every crv owners or prospective owners!
Seats very comfy. Just did 2,000 miles to Italy and back and was great
@@williamb4726 Thanks! Cloth or leather? I test drove both last week, initial impression is leather seats are much softer.
@@slava_trushkin Mine are cloth with a nice alcantara finish
Thanks you so much for the Honda Crv video I'm thinking about buying 64 "plate Crv Ex Idtec 2-2 with Manual transmission I have got a Honda civic 2005 (55) at the moment I don't want to drive into London so would it be a good buy? And are maintenance cost reasonably priced
2011 model had lot issues airbags
Car horn is the same on my Honda jazz
Bro is bonnet / hood visible from driver seat while driving
If you lean forward yes
@@ScottishCarClan but if we do normal driving position with seat heightened up as of 5’9’’ height
Hi i have a mk2 i love the car but my catalytic converter go stolen so i am bit worried of getting another crv .
Any advice on mk4 or mk5 is the catalytic safe ?
A manual ! Superb
Hi, is there much difference on mpg between the petrol and diesel automatics.?
Should be massively in favour of the diesel.
This is what I was afraid of if I booked mine in. I'm looking at things like soft engine mounts etc.
