    When I was in a treatment center for veterans dealing with substance abuse, Ray Lewis showed up at the center on Christmas and brought literally everyone Under Armor boots. He even hung out for about an hour just talking and meeting with everyone. He was already my favorite player before that happened but I have so much respect for him because of what he did for us. It's something I'll never forget!

    Lol Ray Lewis was leading bible study with fellow Ravens and the cops showed up thinking it was a gang meeting. Perception is not always reality.

    Mike Smith - Defensive Assistant (1999-2001) - former head coach, Falcons
    Jack Del Rio - Linebackers Coach (1999-2001) - head coach, Raiders, Jaguars (formerly)
    Marvin Lewis - Defensive Coordinator (1996-2001) - head coach, Bengals
    Mike Singletary - Linebackers Coach (2003-2004) - former head coach, 49ers
    Rex Ryan - Defensive Line Coach/Defensive Coordinator (1999-2004, 2005-2008) - former head coach, Jets and Bills

      I'm a Ravens fan since 98, and I feel the same about the Steeler greats I got to see. I look at Polamalu as a near equal to Ed Reed, Joey Porter, Harrison, Rothlisberger, Bettis, etc. Best rivalry in sports. Ironically, my family is from Pittsburgh, I'm related to Mel Blount and my dad was friends with the late Art Rooney (father of current Steeler owner). Small world.

    As Ravens Fan and my family having season tickets since they became a team. I had the privilege of watching him play for so many years. Like those coaches said when he did his dance if your not from here you don’t understand. That stadium would be electric I mean body tingling electric. What he did for this city you can’t even put into words. Guys like Ray and Ed Reed bring able to watch them was awesome. I’m very grateful to have watched them play in person for so long. Now that they’re gone it’s different but makes your appreciate it more. That’s why I love football for 3-4 hours on that day all your problems hit the pause button and it’s game time. Love my city and my Ravens. Damn I was kinda mushy wtf lol. All true though

    Marvin Lewis doesn't get enough credit. One of the longest tenured coaches after Bill B himself and made the Bengals relevant after nearly 2 decades of being absolutely terrible. He's clearly a very intelligent guy and a great talent evaluator.

    • @ravenken
      @ravenken 7 лет назад +2

      Yeah, I gotta wonder what happened there... he has had a long time and has not really gotten to deep into the playoffs. I don't follow them too closely but I think his stay is just about over. He's a good defensive coach but I don't see him controlling and motivating players to produce... it's that or the front office can't bring in talent.

    • @Butthurt_Beluga
      @Butthurt_Beluga 7 лет назад +9

      On the flipside, Marvin Lewis is 0-7 (.000) in the playoffs and is 113-94-3 (.545) in his tenure with the Bengals.
      Not exactly something to write home about, especially considering Bill Bellichick is 26-10 (.722) in the post season and 263-125 (.678) (which includes his tenure with the Browns as HC) lol

    • @korrasmuscles
      @korrasmuscles 7 лет назад +3

    • @SOLACE214
      @SOLACE214 7 лет назад +8

      Korra Yea I don't blame Marvin lewis for the Bengals shortcomings, I blame the front office for drafting and bringing the wrong type of player onto their team like pacman and Burfict and I just hope Joe mixon really fixes his whole situation.

      Raven Ken since I grew up in the 2000s it was Brett keisel ,Casey Hampton, James farrior, and of course Troy. (James Harrison too but it be kinda cheesy to put him as one of my favorites since he's still playing). What made you a ravens fan?

    • @ravenken
      @ravenken 7 лет назад +4

      I grew up around DC and was a paperboy for Washington Post from 2nd grade through 9th. The Redskins were pissing me off when they hired George Allen who decimated the team for a bunch of old guys (Over the Hill Gang) I needed to find a new team. My dad was from Pittsburgh so I changed my allegiance to Steelers during the 70's - it was a great time to be a steeler fan ;-) BTW - I changed allegiances PRIOR to them winning any SBs.
      After Allen left town and the team started getting it's crap together I went back rooting for the Redskins and that was mainly during the Gibbs era (not a bad time to be a fan of them either). Then through ownership transfer and moving the stadium out of DC. and Snyder (aka Little Jerry) proceeded to destroy the team I was effing livid.
      I moved to downtown Baltimore for a new job and I was literally living two blocks from the football/baseball stadiums... I figured, I have a NEW home team(s). It just so happened I changed allegiances to the Ravens at the start of the 1st SB win XXXV.
      I know people would accuse me of being a fairweather fan. No. For me the issue is the organization. Not the team or the colors. I like the Ravens from Ownership, FO, and the attitude they instill in their players. Plus, they actually invest in their WHOLE organization to make everything top notch - that even includes their media. They spend significant monies to cover themselves and help other news sites cover them as well. That's great for someone like me that only follow pro football.
      I still have a soft spot for Redskins (and squeelers) but being so close to skins I do read news from them and they are STILL a messed up organization. Squeelers run a good ship and I am really glad that Ravens and they are in the same division.
      I mean seriously, is there ANY other games that matches a Steeler vs. Ravens game? Not when it comes to hitting.

    • @golleygeee9536

      Lawrence Taylor was definitely the best linebacker of all time. Both amazing players but LT takes the cake on that one. The rules were also different when he played and you were allowed to be way more aggressive, so who knows how Ray would have played in that era. Then again the rules were changed because of Lawrence Taylor... Ray was in the NFL as more and more rules were being put in place to protect the offense so it's hard to compare two different times in the NFL but I'm still gonna have to give it to LT because he was the only person to win the NFL MVP as a defensive player(there may have been one other person to do that too I'm not sure) and also was NFL Defensive player in 1986 as well.

      Jim Brown for the Browns. Singletary for the Bears D during his tenure. Butkus during his. Mean Joe Greene Squeelers.
      I think port of the optics is the young history of the team so I will give you this... He was a 1st round draft pick during the Ravens inaugural season and stayed with them for a long and HOF career. His 'attitude' defines Play Like A Raven that is placed around the castle. I have nothing but mad respect for the man -- we/he learn from mistakes. Sure he'll say silly stuff time from time but I will always be glad he played for the Ravens. So yeah, he did - does - define them.

      Well, unlike some other old geezers I think every 'period' had its own romance. Different players and styles and rules. I cannot think of a year that I did not enjoy. I realized at a young age there was only so much time during the day and I did not want my days consumed with sports so I focused on NFL football. I had no idea it would become a 365 day a year 'thing'...lol.
      Anyway, One thing is for sure. I have ALWAYS favored players over management and I am NOT a big fan of publicly financing stadiums (I think partnerships can be done but NOT straight up public financing). Otherwise, I enjoy the sport. Oh, one last thing, I do NOT hold professional athletes up as role models. Why people do I will never really understand.

Thank God it worked itself out and made him an even better person than he was. This is the epitome of "live and learn" and keep growing as a person
