This kamehameha actually had stakes because if he died a natural death by expending his own energy they wouldn’t have been able to bring back roshi using the dragon balls. So that was literally roshi going like “so long kids.” And going all in.
If he died from exhaustion, he could've returned (like what happened to Tien), but if the blast caused him to age and he died of that instead, then yeah you're right, he couldn't be revived.

Not true. Elder Guru died from the stress of the events going on in Namek indirectly caused by Frieza. That's why he was brought back with the wish to revive those killed by Frieza and his men.

I literally cried during that scene in super. Beautifuly written and animated, performed with passion, and a call back to where it all started for them. That’s one of best scenes in the show no doubt.

Only complaint is they ruin the sacrifice by having Goku revive him. And also it's not as good as how he teaches in in the manga. Kamesennin squares up with Jiren and gets to boxin.

A little detail: Roshi’s Kamehameha didn’t have any wasted power or energy. When he is charging it you can see the energy building up and flaring out, but during his “this will be my greatest and most powerful Kamehameha” you see the energy suddenly form together to make one single beam with no excess. The others may have a more powerful Kamehameha, but they haven’t mastered it like Roshi has.
Easily one of my favorite subtle details ever. Roshi made it, he MASTERED it, Goku only uses it.
@@niapurdue230 to be fair, Goku is a master on his own right at this point. Sure, he lacks intelligence (thanks to super) but he has an extreme level of control over his energy as seen in the Namek saga. He might easily be one of the most skilled fighters without considering his strength.
Are we also forgetting the time he did a kamehameha with his feet he can also make it bend which any direction he chooses before yes he did not have the proper energy and Kai control which why it’s always explosive and wide unlike master roshi who’s all about kai control and energy efficiency also he didn’t use it a lot while in super saiyan because the transformation and form is always a strain on his stamina and energy couple with firing a kamehameha he’d lose all of it at once but with SSB that’s no longer an issue.

i know im late on this. but there was supposed to be a scene where jiren had attacked Master Roshi and because of much of a master Roshi was he was able to evade all the attacks.

They did Rossi well in the 3 episodes he’s centered in they bring back the mafuba and the hypno attack really nice call backs to early dragon ball
Would have been cool if he used the after image technique to circle his opponent and hit from several angles at once like he did to tien in OG dragonball

Everytime I watched this it hits really hard...Everytime.
After Goku and Gohan left the time chamber, they went to rest their bodies. Goku told his son that the time chamber put a lot of strain on their bodies, and they needed rest. They rested for 3 days. Trained for 3 days, and then rested for the last 3 days before the Cell games. Gohan was so confused and didn't understand why they were resting, having fun, and enjoying life before the games. Vegeta on the other hand decided to not rewt his body and reenter the chamber and strain his body before the games. I feel like a fool. I now realize that Goku, after all these years, was making sure he did the way of the turtle school.

The true master of the Kamehameha. Just look how clean it is. We’re so used to the likes of Goku, Gohan or anyone else just release a blast that could end planets. But this form is just pure mastery.
Never forget that speech about defending the innocent from the evil is why Goku is the hero he is now and why so many are alive today because of it.

When asked why Roshi used a fake name and disguise in the 21st martial arts tournament, he said that he wanted to make sure Goku and Krillin would lose so they wouldn't know they were at the top of the sport. He wanted them to train carefree, like wild animals, without a trace of ego. Looking back, Roshi's training was one of the things that primed him for Ultra Instinct that early on

The dub really is good, the sub is good and also does call backs, but this was also amazing. They played with the yamcha meme in the beerus arc and then we got this cool callback.

It's a character flaw,and humans are flawed.
But being flawed in an aspect doesn't mean you can't be good in other aspects.
Lots of time animes and movies fail to give characters real flaws.
Thankfully dragon ball nailed it with most of the characters.
Roshi,Bulma,Goku,Krillin and Yamcha all have visible flaws on the classic DB.
As the story progressed and other main characters appeared some flaws were re-written ,added pr subtracted but overall I'd say it worked pretty well.
