You are so awesome. This was the best water pump replacement video I have seen with excellent step by step instructions. Thank you! I didn’t think I could tackle a project like this but you have now empowered me to do more!
Thanks for your video, helped me get through my own repair. The pump replacement instructions say that the pump needs be primed with water before using. I think that's why it was dry firing for you at the end of your video. The only thing I did differently was priming the pump with a syringe using the inlet tubing before sealing it all up again.
I had this problem and spent hours cleaning tubes and then changed solenoid. Later found out that the issue was the pump. If you have a solenoid problem you won't be able to switch between the group head and the hot water dispenser. If you have inconsistent water flow, dripping or you notice that water comes out of the group head while you have the steam wand selected it's likely the pump. The smoking gun for me was twofold. First I saw that there was corrosion on the input tube to the water heater. This told me that water was boiling as it wasn't getting sufficient flow. The second was that when I turned on the frothing wand water would come out slowly and then the pump would explode on and it would emit steam. Then it sort of petered out. This told me that the pump was working sporadically. You may be able to make coffee for some time before needing to replace. Problem is you'll just get inconsistent pressure and notice that flavor is not good.
I know this was a long time ago but what was the symptoms of your machine ? mine has water coming out of the steam and water wand but no water from the head ! I didnt think it could be the pump since water is still being pumped thanks for your help , great video
Might be the solenoid valve, which redirects water depending on the selected function. I was able to get a new solenoid assembly by calling Breville directly.
Thank you man you are a life saver
