    Lol, there are no dogleg right at Avery. A lot of dogleg left's and a few straights, but no rights. Those rocks crossing the fairway on #5 precede my membership there so I too don't know their intent. My best guess is to make sure a cart can't drive up to the water's edge. Most of us try to play our second shot to the vicinity of those rocks as it leads to a relatively short third over the lake and onto the green. You could have hired (for free!) a local sherpa to show you around the course and point out where the blind fairways lead to. And I guarantee you wouldn't have had to pay $70, or anything at all. I bet a number of your viewers are members there :)

    The rocks are likely there to prevent golfers from driving carts on that area of the course; it looks like they are lining a cart path and if so, they want you to keep the cart on the path

    Three great tips:
    - shiny grass grows in different direction from darker grass
    - pitch mark and subsequent ball movement from shot line
    - slow down in wet conditions for cleaner hit and less divot

    Avery Ranch back 9 pretty fun. A little more open and it's got 3 par 3's, 3 par 4's and 3 par 5's
    Just need to watch out for 2-7 on the front. Everything else pretty straight forward
    The line of rocks is to block carts from going to close to the water I believe. It use to get pretty muddy from all the rain and probably didn't do so well the snow.

      Alcw, Gen appeared to be playing the round by herself on a course she didn't know. I honestly believe a yardage book should at the least be available to check lines and yardage. Perhaps Gen couple be supplied with a Skycaddie or similar system?

    • @ndnd1671
      @ndnd1671 3 года назад

      They use to have yardage books but it's always been an extra charge. I usually use GPS app myself on courses. They help a lot when you first play a course.
      $70 is about average price in Austin for golf. Falconhead, the one she played earlier is like $75-85 sometimes on weekends but they are pretty nice courses.
      There is a few muni courses which I think are $20-40 but usually not in the best shape from what I've heard
