I’m a scratch player, and I’ll play from the front tees every so often with my father-in-law. It challenges you to hit your driver VERY STRAIGHT. It gives you the chance to practice half wedge shots, and pitch shots, that you normally don’t see from your regular tees. And, it also gets you way more comfortable at shooting a low score. Being under par, coming down the stretch, is very stressful, if you’re not used to it. You’ll also get lots of mid-range birdie looks, which makes for great practice. I highly recommend playing the front tees every so often. It isn’t as easy as you might think. You still have to hit quality shots, to go low.

I love this format! As a short hitting old guy (57) this is much more fair than strokes IMO. So sad that the PGA Tour isn't coming back to this course. I love the looks of it.

Adventures in golf on the scratch golf channel is amazing. Erik goes to craziest and most beautiful places in the world chasing the most interesting golf stories. Last three seasons are an unreal watch . Was cool seeing a bit more of how he actually plays in this match. You don't see a whole lot of his game play in the adventures in golf videos. Didn't even realise he had his own channel😅 another rabbit hole to dive into 😂
I really enjoyed this match. Don't know who Erik Anderson is, but he is a really likeable guy and a pretty good golfer. Keep up the good work

@GrantHorvatgolff the way i read the USGA, your first relief for the unplayable is correct for a lateral relief, then his relief for the cart path is nearest full relief and 1 club length. But that nearest relief would of been back into the bush.
Now he could of also taken the unplayable straight back with the ball and hole in line as far as he wanted, but not sure there was any room straight back keeping the original ball and the hole in line.
And also taken stroke and distance and went back to the tee.
You guys were on a different frequency to RUclips Golf. High quality content. I’ve seen Erik’s content before, a future collaboration series would be a blessing to RUclips Golf and would not compare to anything else that’s out there, IMO
Loved the creativity with this format! More interesting than the typical give a shot other hole.
For an unplayable, it's a stroke penalty and you get two club lengths. Relief from the cart path is nearest point of relief which does not always give you the best lie. By the rules, nearest point was on the right side of the path, essentially back where you started.
Post-failure tips is key to getting into your opponent’s head early. Atta-boy GH!
Crazy. Having a much closer tee block just brings in a whole new set of hazards and issues. I'm convinced that golf has teeth and is always waiting to bite. Gotta love it though. Great video Grant. Keep em coming.

100% Erik gets a free drop onto the fairway on the 380 yard par 5. Hahaha
I’m sure this has been mentioned repeatedly but you are correct the 2nd drop was incorrect. As you are not dropping into hazard you drop into the bush as it is the closest portion of relief from the cart path no closer. If it was red stake on that side of the cart path than yes you would drop on the left (open) side as you cannot drop into a hazard. Love the collar and have watched both and enjoyed them a ton.

Regarding the drop Eric took on the 8th- technically his nearest point of relief from the path was on the bush side of the path not on the fairway side.
