"Use improved minor illusion to safely trigger combat with an ambush." Pro tip, you don't even need a spell to do this. Just use everyone's favorite cheeky quasit, Shovel, who can cast invisibility at will, no resources needed. Get the scroll of summon quasit in the Blighted Village (early in Act 1). As a wizard, you can copy the scroll to your spellbook. Summon Shovel, cast invisibility, and just always initiate combat with invisible Shovel attacking someone for a free surprise round, every time. After combat, have Shovel go invis again. Repeat to your heart's delight.
I love Shovel.

Yeah, tried to use Shovel in a combat once. He got clobbered in a single hit before he got a chance to go invis again.
@kungknas6108 'Lul dude does his best. At least he got you the ambush and you can summon him again after a short rest!
@@kungknas6108 That's the great thing about Shovel. It doesn't matter if she dies. Since summoning her is a ritual spell once you memorize it, it doesn't cost you a spell slot. Just summon her again after you end combat, cast invisibility again, and you're ready to ambush more unsuspecting enemies! Unlike with other summoning spells, you don't even need to keep Summon Quasit prepared. You can swap in that spell, summon Shovel, then swap the spell out for something else and Shovel stays summoned.
Just a note! If you start with rogue you get more skill proficiencies as well as proficiency in dex saving throws
and proficiency in light armour! not sure why they started wizard
I'm guessing it's RP reasons.
These aren't min-maxing, but making a fun themed build; and then trying to make it efficient with what you have to work with.

I'd say fighter ranger put 2 into fighter for action surge then everything into ranger with dual weapon as a fighting style grab sharpshooter feat dual wield hand crossbows

Can you do a build for Zagreus from Hades?
Thats one looks fun 🤩, the best I can think is something like 15 17 16 8 13 8, start as fighter until lv 6 Eldritch kng, (pick tavern brawler +1 str, then + 1 dex and +1 wis), for the dark mirror buffs pick 2 lvs in warlock, then choice your favorite god and pick his bless going full cleric (if you want the wine god, pick lv 5 in warlock for huger of hadar).

Yup and grab the book of thay for a permanent 4 summon
But with this strategy, you don't need to be an assassin rogue. A thief or even a Arcane trickster would be better.

For sure, then you can use Bite once per short rest with your bonus action, and eventually Ascendant Bite!
Why haste when you have great invis
Plenty of spell slots for both, but Haste was highlighted because you'll be able to to attack 5 times before the enemy is no longer surprised.
Burst damage in the first couple rounds of combat as an Assassin is good.
@@grindgod847 yeah but if you use great invis right you may attack more times without even been seen, guess is just what the player like the most

Yeah, the problem with Arcane Trickster, and even Eldritch Knight, is that their spell choices are very limited. Imo
Proof you never even try your builds before you post them. This is just a weak wizard with a crappy extra sneak attack.....

@FinalParty_ , yeah it's almost like we didn't show a 56 damage crit hit with one action, while still having another action because of level 3 spell Haste. Oh, on an ambush, which we can trigger consistently with bonus action Improved Minor Illusion from school of illusion, so removing enemies from combat before they even get a turn.
Action economy.
No need to meta/minmax joe 🤦
