Suggestions for volume drop with this? Run an additional booster in front and use a secondary chain for this pedal? Like it's a pretty big drop with volume on the unit I own.
I have the same problem with volume drop when I engage this pedal. I am currently looking for a booster pedal to run in front of this pedal.... I hope this will help.
dont know why it took me this long to find this, seems like a really good alternative to the digitech supernatural, with how pricey those have gotten recently
TC Electronic. Please listen to this product idea. Seriously, I love your stuff, but I currently kind of need a simpler solution than separate pedals in my fx loop. I know you have the G-system. It's nice, but it's an older unit and it struggles to compete with the recent multi-effects from competitors. Your toneprint pedals however (I own several) are probably the truest sounding digital stuff. Here's my idea: you've got the sounds, you've got the computing power. You know what people loved about the G-system and you see people crossing over to helix gear. Please bring out a multi-FX with the True to Tone tech, toneprints, a bunch of fx-loops, with all of the audio quality we know and love. Perhaps even with the Alter Ego /limited toneprints for an additional fee. Maybe you're already working on it, but PLEASE! That is what the world needs, that's what I need to keep me from Helix.
@@richardharrold9736 what is the exact difference between a digital reverb and a digital reverb in a multi effect? The helix is fairly convincing. I wouldn't use it in place of my amp, but in my FXloop I'm open to digital (already have the famed HOF and Alter Ego X4 in there). This pedal is basically a multi-effect, that only does 1 effect at a time and with software that only has reverb algorithms. So, if you don't ming me asking: what exactly makes a multi-effect crap to you, where dedicated digital effects don't. There really isn't a difference. Currently I'm lugging around a whole bunch of pedals and I have several moments where I'm basically tapdancing. Since digital in the fx-loop is OK for me, a single pedal of which I like all the sounds (and honestly, to me that could only be TC) allows quicker setup, less tapdancing and less moving parts. I like several features about the helix (the IR's for instance are a great application for the occasional acoustic), but the algorithms to my ear don't have the 'depth' that my HOF and AEx4 have.
@@lauriedepaurie multiFX boards are built down to a price, simple as. They look, feel and sound cheap. The Line6 company is infamous for its appalling quality products (see also Pod, Spider...).
@@richardharrold9736 and this TC product isn't made to a price? And how many pro's have used and still use the DL4? Ampmodelers are a dangerous field. However, the spider range and pod were considered to be quite good when they came out. Now they are outdated, but certainly not crap. The question remains. AD/DA conversion (when the bandwith remains the same) is AD/DA conversion. Whether it's through a computer that only has algorithms for only 1 effect type, or several, doesn't change anything. Inside of a pedal like this is a tiny computer. Inside a multi-effect is a slightly less tiny computer. But I get it, you associate multi-effects with low quality. Lack of arguments won't stop you.
Just ordered one of these from Zzounds (though it's back ordered until Feb 10th - bummer). Glad I found this since I sold my Toncore Verbzilla and missed only the shimmer effect on it.
I bought this and you can hear clicks and pops lightly when the crystal effect kicks in. I went back to listen to the demos and they all have the pops, its just harder to hear on the good rigs. essentially Im a bit bummed so im returning it
I agree. Ill stick with more versatile Keeley Caverns 2 which has a great shimmer. Most of this new cheaper TC line is NOT good imo. I still like my TC Transitions and Paul Gilbert Mojo tho.
Got mine the other day... Feeling disappointed as there is a drop in volume when activating the shimmer reverb. Found out many others report same issue. Not sure i will keep it ... sorry to say..
I've watched several videos on this pedal. Shimmer all the way up or all the way down sound the same. If there is a difference, it's a "splitting hairs" kind of thing.
Tc please make it a x4 pedal please. I would buy it with more features. I love my lush reverb/delay. Would you guys be able to make more alterego x4 pedals?
I've noticed this too. I find it sounds much better in front of the amp than in the effects loop. There's still some volume drop on the dry signal but it's managble.
0% bullshit or ego-driven flash playing.
100% useful and VERY informative demo.
Very convincing. Thanks.
Only shimmer at this price point that's actually worth the money. You've nailed it!
Thanks, Cameron 🙂
100% reverb sounded like the guitar went into ego death
Very pleasant shimmer. I think its the best shimmer around at that price tag. Good job! i have a Rusty Fuzz and i love it btw
Excellent pedal and excellent review. beautiful sounds
id really love to hear someone do this shimmer into another long reverb with some delay in there. reaaaally space it out
We'll get on it!
absolutely sold me on one; thank you for this
wow espectacular sound. Great pedal I like it.
Great, I have to order this one...

Yeah I use a TC Spark in the same loop, so both come on together. Works fine.

I would think the whammy bar is completely useless at this point.

Why would anyone want multi-FX? They sound like shit. Helix is a gimmick, nothing more.

solo con este pedal se pude hacer esa atmósfera o con cualquier reverb ??

Is there some kind of delay time in there that is not adjustable ?
Bass ?
I don't think I can hear a 2nd upper octave
Everytime i turn on this pedal.. my guitar volume and tone just like cut out in half.. idk what happened....this could be a great pedal...
Post metal: the pedal.
Is it analog?
Yep
There's a gritty quality to the shimmer here that I don't care for. HoF2 sounds better.
It's also twice the price. There's a reason this pedal exists and you appear not to realise that you've nailed it.
