This is one of the most interesting watch reviews I’ve ever seen. I’ve watched dozens of reviews of a variety of watches, but not one was a LONG term review. Incredible that this cheap, oft maligned Invicta is still giving good service after eighteen years. It just goes to show that when it comes to watches, we pay the high prices for branding, finishing, and design, not durability.
My sister's husband passed recently and she gifted me his 5017 with this type bezel. He only wore it a few times. Like new! I can't wait to put a battery in it. It won't replace my daily Citizen, but will be a nice addition.
The 40mm Prodiver was available with the coin edge bezel first. It’s an OB after the model number. The pro divers are amazing value. Mine is about 15 years old and the Miyota movement finally died. The 8 series Miyotas are hand winding and as of last year are now hacking. Invicta makes a 40mm PD with a Selita movement and can be found for around $200.
I'm not far behind you, I've had one for 12 years. Great watches. I use mine as a 'stunt double'for my Submariner, though these days I only bring the Sub out on special occasions, since it has skyrocketed in value. That means my Invicta is my main watch, worn 24/7, and it's still kicking.
Also a military to civilian guy myself, retired Air Force. I bought the current Invicta Pro Diver watch last year during a Prime Day special for $59... ridiculously cheap considering that I have straps that cost that much. I was quite surprised by the quality for the price. I shook my watch for a week before I discovered that it had hand winding. It also hacks, which is a must have for me. The level of accuracy is equal to or better than many of my multi-hundred dollar watches from the big named companies. If I could change one thing, it would be to get rid of that garish "INVICTA" etched into the side... a little too much "look at me" for my taste, but for the price it's a small sacrifice. Anyone that laughed at these watches without actually seeing one should do the sub-hundred dollar experiment and own a true no cares adventure watch that you can freely wear in hazardous conditions without fear. I purchased my Invicta Pro Diver 5/2003. It has the Miyota 8215. The bezel is 1/2 black and half red. The red portion is anodized and has a great faded patina. The black portion appears to be ceramic and looks new. Recent case back and crown stem "O" rings (greased), and minor speed and beat error adjustments. Has not been serviced since purchase. Still running strong after 31 years.
I’ve modded, sold, destroyed and gifted many 40mm automatic Invicta Pro Divers. My first automatic was an auto pro diver - purchased in 2009. I was not aware the Submariner existed at the time. I loved the submariner design language. Several years ago, it was extremely difficult to find a better value packed watch under $100. The Chinese have caught up. While these are great, the Invicta 1953 released in 2020 is a better watch. I have both. Despite owning watches that cost a lot more, I will always have one in my collection.
Nice review! When I was going for the submariner look on a beer budget in 2010, I ended up getting the Invicta 9937OB - the version with the sapphire crystal and the Swiss Sellita SW200 movement. I've replaced the aluminum bezel insert a number of times, and I've brushed the bracelet with green Scotchbrite several times. 13 years later that watch is still going strong - it looks great, keeps solid time, and it still has a decent power reserve. I've got no regrets about buying it.
@@miamiman196 green Scotch Brite pads are green abrasive kitchen scouring pads, and they are abrasive enough to scratch stainless steel. They come in various colors for varying degrees of abrasiveness. Most people who use these to dress their watch bracelets use green.
The Pro Diver doesn't deserve the hate it's a brilliant wee watch. For even better build quality try the Grand Diver, it's an amazing watch. Mines is in the winder with Rolex Seadweller, Kadloo Ocean Date and Seiko 55 Fathoms and it does not look outta place one bit. Keeps better time than Rolex too.
I love Invicta watches, for the money you can’t beat quality and looks . You can’t even buy a decent watch band for the price of some of these watches.
Mine is 16 yrs. old, I splurged on the 9937 swiss movement, still runs great never been serviced. Bought mine leaving the Air Force and wore it during my airline job interview. Great video, cool to see all the scars on yours!
I've never understood people buying watches and then not using them. I have some nice watches from omega and Tudor and I like it when it gets a scratch. I don't do it on purpose, mind you but those are my scratches. sometime when they get passed down to my kids I'd hope they would keep them exactly as they are.
I have a Submariner 14060 I bought in the late 1990s but I didn't want to wear it anymore while swimming. So, I got an Invicta Pro Diver a couple of years ago in black/gold with a black rubber strap. Good watch. I'm so happy with it; wear it most of the time, finally. I have only replaced the original strap with a NATO.
I was 1st district U.S. Coast Guard, and going to be buying my 1st Invicta pro diver next week, the one I'm looking at has the hammer head shark on it. Thanks for your review, very knowledgeable and informative. I can't really afford an automatic movement at this time, but the quartz one will be just fine for right now. Thanks again for the enjoyable video.
I am by no means a quartz snob. In my personal opinion you would do yourself a favor to get the automatic. I recently got a Aragon Dive Master 4 EVO, $160 USD. Sapphire crystal, ceramic bezel insert, solid end links, milled deployant clasp. It also uses the same NH35 as the Invicta. I use my $60 G-SHOCK for work but when I get home I enjoy my budget piece of "luxury". Definitely worth setting aside 20 or 30 bucks a week for a month or two. You will appreciate it more. We only live once, treat yourself don't cheat yourself 👍🏾✌🏾
I have the exact same watch, even the scalloped bezel. Bought it from Sam's club in 2007. It was my first automatic and still runs great. Perfect starter auto to get you hooked!
I think you will find it is hand winding. Give the main spring a full wind and it will be good to go. I have two pro divers (black and a sunburst blue) for 12 years and they're still both going strong and keeping good time. Great review my friend. Looking forward to the next one 😊.
I decided to get a watch I could see in the dark after hours of wearing rain gear , testing several watches this watch held lume over 12 hrs, only one better was a Tritium dial. I don't like the metal band, get that across + and ground on your car battery. Good video.
Bought this watch yesterday in Amazons sale (Model # 9094OB, Im told the OB stand for old bezel!). Paid £55.40 so around $72 I believe, its my first Invicta watch but I couldnt resist it at the sale price. It looks great although I put it straight on a rubber strap as I just dont get on with bracelets, I just hope it lasts as long as yours has. Nice review my friend, so I subscribed.
cool video. I have a Rep Rolex Submariner that I bought on the street in Chinatown NYC for $50. bucks and wore it for 10 years and loved it and beat it up.....its in my watch case and I probably will never wear again but I look at it and it makes me smile......
I consider myself very lucky to have some expensive pieces, but it is really hard to argue with the value for money that the Pro Diver gives you. I have three Pro Divers and I look and them and think - "Just.....How???" They will go for years and years.
I have an 8926 that I got in 2008. It has the SII NH25 movement. In 2019 it started to run slow and I tweaked the adjustment. Still runs well, no service since its more for that than buying another. The watch that bugs me is my Heuer 844 Monnin French made that needs to be serviced once again. The last time a "certified" Rolex service center cleaned and adjusted it and it only stayed running for 2 years after that. Incredible that the Invicta seems like a better value considering the price and how it runs despite my neglect.
I love my 2 pro divers. Looking for a couple 12hr dual time bezels to put on them. My friend and parter in the fly fishing shop we own is a Rolex/Casio guy. I went in to the shop when I got the black Invicta diver and called out to Richie at the back of the shop “hey I got a Rolex” while holding my wrist up. He couldn’t tell until he got about 20’ away that it was a Invicta.
Dude, i didn’t know you were doing a channel other than audio man, really nice. I just bought a ADDIESDIVE quartz (didn’t plan to wear it much and didn’t want to worry about winding or wearing). It was $45 and unbelievable how nice it it. I planed to toss the bracelet but (Bought a nato when i ordered) it was very large and much much nicer than expected so i took a few links out and I’m impressed - could easily pass for a watch multiple times what i paid.
my first Invicta is the 8926, I bought it in 2014 and till these days, it has been flawless...now I have 4 in different shapes, one Grand Diver and 1 titanium version.
Nice review! I agree with you completely. I also have an Invicta diver with a Miyota 8215 similar vintage to yours. Still keeps perfect time although it has to be manually wound now. I also have a 9937OB with a Sellita SW200 movement that is even better built. Great value for the price!
I do see others have that coin cut Bezel in the replies,, I just haven't had my hands on that many to be familiar with them. Good video,, keep them coming!
Love my Invicta (8935 £80) worn everyday for 3 years, work and leisure no problems. Its a watch that looks good and gives you time what more do you want.
I thoroughly enjoy my 20478 Pro Diver. Looks classy and easy to read. Best part it cost me $20 CAD used with another $25 for a new battery installed and is in close to mint condition. Beautiful quality.
I still have mine up to this day, pretty beat up yet still works great (NH35 movement). I was supposed to sell it before since I racked up quite a collection. But I decided it has too much memories back when I was starting out, kept it as a reminder
Wearing my Pro Diver 8926 (basically the same as yours but with the TMI movement) as I'm watching this. I find it fascinating that this brand has been around since 1837, that's much longer than most swiss brands, preceeding Rolex by 71 years! That alone is reason to proudly wear one of these and not listen to the snobs. Nice relaxed video, yet again.
The current watch doesn’t resemble the original Invicta. It was bought in the 90s and started pumping out oversized ugly watches. And homages. I’m not hating I own an Invicta 1953
@@MrBacchus18But it still is an Invicta. Yes, they produce mostly disgusting pieces nowadays, but their heritage still stands as a testament for good watchmaking. And that goes back almost two centuries. There is a lot more history in Invicta's horology to look back to than current ugly models can ever screw up.
Ditto on everything you you said in your video. I have the same watch as you , black with the scalloped bezel it still runs great. Wear it almost every day, also banged up and scratched. Great video, invicta pro diver all the way baby. Take care.😊 Forgot to mention purchased August 2004
I've had one for almost a week and it's hard to put a different watch on at the moment. My only complaint is the cyclops is a bit off. I've seen other people get one and it be fine so guess I was unlucky
I have one 1953 style been had for nearly a year I use only for work, it’s a beast I gotta say. Using 3/4 drive impact 1” drive impact use of hammer this watch is as tough as they come
@@cheapwatchman_official If you can find a watchmaker, perhaps a hobbyist that won't charge too much. You get into a situation where many watchmakers will say how much cheaper it would be to just replace the watch. I do understand why you don't want to lose the watch. Subbed.
@@zumalot how bad is the situation with cheap watch service in the US? In Moscow it'll be about 40-50$ for full repassage (not in a fancy service centre, but still) and nearly anyone won't refuse servicing Seiko, Miyota, Orient movements. Just curious
@@thewhalenorman I cannot find a watchmaker in my area except jewelry stores, at least who I would trust breaking down/re-assembling any of my watches. The quick answer is "I don't know". My next service will be headed off to Omega for a "speedy" service. I'm guessing $700-$1000, but have not checked for alternatives. I once trusted a very nice older gentleman, self taught, with a glowing reputation. $250 for a full Rolex DJ service. The watch still runs, but sometimes the stem positions is not exact for manual winding, setting date (quickset). You get what you pay for I suppose. A jewelry store watchmaker charged $750 for another Rolex DJ. $300 for a vintage Seiko with probably a $25 auto movement, but there was sentimental value involved, rare dial..etc. I'll never go back because of a very nice 1966 Breitling Top Time. $800 + given back to me with a big crack on the crystal and he acted like I wasn't going to see it. He did fix it after a few encouraging words from me. One really needs to perform a hard target search within the states for great/cheaper service. Sorry, I'm not much help. Didn't mean to write a book here and thanks for stopping by, friend.
My old pro diver, ETA, sapphire, coin edge is absolutely bulletproof, has been over 120ft deep in the Atlantic multiple times..solid as a rock and looks great.
I love this watch. For me, a dive watch is a sporty watch that can take a beating but look good doing it, and this has those qualities in spades. Its super underrated imo
Interesting. I have the same watch as you except I bought mine in 2009. Its still running and still looks good. Its been with me and has a few scratches and marks but I love it. I paid 100.00 bucks back then. I dont know much about the Myota movement they must be good.
Love my pro diver, amazing value and durability. Only complaint is that I found the bracelet to be a hair puller and went with a silicone strap, love it.

I’m no fan of Invicta but if I had to take one watch out into the ocean with me on my swimming journey I would be willing to risk an Invicta Pro Diver. The RUclips Channel Wonders of Watchdom changed my view on this watch with his review.
Pro Diver Mickey Mouse are some of the best Mickey watches. ....and yes, I have the regular nh35 one too. ...and the Swiss quartz one with the scallop bezel. Great stuff but ........BEAT NAVY!!!
umm to my understanding the NH series is a Seiko movement, not some variant made by Invicta, It is made by TMI which is a Seiko group subsidiary created to sell Seiko movements but all they are are still Seiko movements. all automatic movements are windable, I figure it is a Miyota 8200 series and the older ones didn't have hacking if I remember correctly. thanks for the video, I think people give Invicta a lot of shit which I dont get, they have great bang for the buck, I wear my Invicta watches on the daily compared to my rolex/tudor that only come out for special occasions. a great version is the 1953 Invicta diver one of my favs for sure
I've been using watches with the NH 35 movement for over 7 months, and during that time trying to bring them into COSC (-4 to +6 spd) standards. After watching quite a few watchmakers take them and other movements apart and reassemble them, I was struck with how similar all of them were. If a Rolex could do +/- 2 spd, why not the NH 35? These watchmakers also praise the NH 35 and other Seiko movements for their excellent durability. So. What have I learned? With a bit of effort, the NH 35 can be regulated (carefully remove the watch's back, and gently move the balance regulating lever by tiny amounts) to close to COSC standards. PROVIDED that you've worn the watch for at least a week, and noted how much it gains or looses. Then, with a timegrapher (1), you can create a fairly accurate watch. EXCEPT! The NH 35 had fairly poor isochronous quality. That is, when the mainspring is fully wound, the watch runs fast. Unwound, slow. It's also susceptible to gaining time when the watch dial is rotated on it's axis. Grab the watch by its bracelet, and spin it quickly back and forth for 10 seconds, and you'll find the watch has gained a second. Go for a 2 hour walk, swinging your arm, and the watch might gain 10 seconds. Sit at your desk all day, and the watch looses 2 to 4 seconds. Is the cheap but durable NH 35 worth it? Of course, it's up to you. Once you know it's foibles, and learn to work with them, I'd say it was. Bang for the buck, of course it is! 1) A Chinese timegrapher can be bought from Ali Express for $130+. Or. You can download a timegrapher app for your cell phone. The former is better, as the app requires silent surroundings and makes it very awkward to test the watch in all 6 positions.
Invicta has always intrigued me especially the uber large watches ... Just to know what it would look and feel like on the wrist. I also used to love watching the shopHQ Invicta channel as a guilty pleasure (before they took it off of my cable TV). The Prodiver seems to get pretty positive reviews from most reviewers. That said 3-4 things have held me back from buying an Invicta: 1) over branding on the watch - hey i don't like it when a brand like Blancpain does it either. On the dial with the wings is fine, seconds hand counter weight fine too, ok with it on the crown, cuetom rotor with name on it ok ... I don't see it when it's on the wrist and it makes a display caseback more interesting ... But why ALSO on the side of the case? In my opinion there is branding then there is over branding. 2) often bright and bold designs that are not to my taste (although i applaud them for being innovative and different). 3) sometimes subpar specs that meld into #4 ... 4) MSRP pricing that is frankly ridiculous (when compared to what you get for the money in the rest of the market) ... I know they are often on sale and discounted but the OG pricing tactic annoys me.
$35 dollar ebay puchase 5 years ago, from what I suspect was a pawn shop. It is a great bargain. I wear it in the pool, when i mow the lawn, and whenever I feel like it. Love it.
They are one of the biggest watch sellers in the world. For the money they simply can't be beaten. Everyone likes to talk about the comically large watches, the whimsical kids watches like "Joker"... They make watches for everyone in every shape and size and price point. I own about 30 of them and they're all great. They also don't gouge people like "luxury" brands do. The only time you should pay a premium for something is if it does something better. Luxury watches don't look better, keep time better... You're paying to have your ego stroked.
Got the IPD shortly after they switched to the Seiko movement. Still runs like a top, although I mangled the bezel which now barely moves. Oh well, a good all-mechanical watch for 130 bucks, and it'll probably run for decades more.
If you like the Invicta check out the Quartz Addiesdive Submariner. Miyota 2115 movement, 316L Stainless steel. An awesome Rolex Submariner homage with a Japanese movement.
I feel the same way I got my pro diver a few years ago as a beater watch. The thing it tough. It’s got the same NH35 movement as my buddies Sangin except mine keeps much better time. I was in the Sub Force as well got out in 05 too!
I have an older Invicta Pro Diver than yours, and it came with an ETA movement. It also has a coin-edge bezel. It also has neither the garish Invicta logo on the side of the case, nor the Invicta wings on the second hand.

I actually just modded a steel dive sub clone. was a lot of fun. white dial with black markers and new pilot style handset. looks cool.
All the better ones seem to not be on the site anymore, just tried to look this one up with no results
What is green Scotchbrite?
@@miamiman196 green Scotch Brite pads are green abrasive kitchen scouring pads, and they are abrasive enough to scratch stainless steel. They come in various colors for varying degrees of abrasiveness. Most people who use these to dress their watch bracelets use green.
Never liked the Invictas, but this has convinced me! Incredible that its lasted this long, and for such an affordable price.
I love this watch too. I also plan to always own it. I never wear it, but I love seeing it when I look through the collection.
I got an Invicta pro Diver and love it. Keeps good time and great value.
I have only replaced the original strap with a NATO.
bought one 15 yrs ago. running still very accurate. I dont wear it, looks to much rolexy. but: not a bad watch at all 😊
My first mechanical automatic watch. It keeps amazing time and I still enjoy wearing it.
We only live once, treat yourself don't cheat yourself 👍🏾✌🏾
tomorrow maybe your day. they will probably be having huge sales and they always have some crazy sale on their website going too.
You can't go wrong with an Invicta Pro Diver Hammer Head Shark edition.
SSN sailor here. Glad to find you and subscribe
Amazon are selling these for £62 on offer now, seems crazy value for a solid watch
Looking forward to the next one 😊.
my 9937 coin edge with Swiss movement and sapphire crystal is still going strong after 15 years. And its available online for around $230.
Invicta started my watch addiction.
my first Invicta is the 8926, I bought it in 2014 and till these days, it has been flawless...now I have 4 in different shapes, one Grand Diver and 1 titanium version.
Have a black on of about the same age. Great everyday watch and still going strong!
I got 4 of them. Good beaters/ swimming watches. I enjoy them so i don't care about the bad rep they get.
I have had mine going on 10 years. I don’t wear it all that often, but it still works great!
Thanks for sharing Randy. Most of have that one watch that we will never get rid of for special reasons. My first Seiko is that watch.
thanks, G.
Some pro divers still have the scalloped bezel like the 9404
Ditto on everything you you said in your video. I have the same watch as you , black with the scalloped bezel it still runs great. Wear it almost every day, also banged up and scratched. Great video, invicta pro diver all the way baby. Take care.😊 Forgot to mention purchased August 2004
I just ordered the 9403, coke, and I’m asking myself, why has it taken this long? Great review, great channel! Subbed :)
I bought this too . Very great quality for the price. The only Invicta I admired
Cool didnt know you had a watch channel as well. Glad to have found it.
I've got two and I love them. Fantastic value for money and much maligned.
I dont think I left comment on the first run watching this so here you go haha! Great long term review bud!
Using 3/4 drive impact 1” drive impact use of hammer this watch is as tough as they come
My 8026 is around 10 years old. Its definitely still in rotation. Looks and runs great.
It sounds like it needs a service and maybe a new main spring. I bet with a little bit of love, and some new parts it will run with its former glory!
Yeah. I may see if I can get it serviced. Seems absurd to do it but there is a lot of sentimental value for this watch.
My pro divers at least 13 to 15 years old and I still love it it's one of my most comfortable watches and I have many nice watches.
My old pro diver, ETA, sapphire, coin edge is absolutely bulletproof, has been over 120ft deep in the Atlantic multiple times..solid as a rock and looks great.
Prior to Aliexpress popularity and options i would say this was a fantastic pickup.
I love this watch. For me, a dive watch is a sporty watch that can take a beating but look good doing it, and this has those qualities in spades. Its super underrated imo
Nice review brother. Thank you.
What???? You have a 2nd channel?? C’mon man!
I like watches. Subbed.
I got some many watches that no way my watch would be in a crap position. My Tissot and Versace with Kenneth Cole, Michael Kors and invicta, Bulova, Elgin, Pintime, Biden, Jarguar, and San Martin, and 🎉Casio .. More watches
I’ve got a 12 year old one with the NH movement and it doesn’t wind on its own anymore, but it’s still able to be hand-wound. Great watch for $75.
I've been using watches with the NH 35 movement for over 7 months, and during
that time trying to bring them into COSC (-4 to +6 spd) standards. After
watching quite a few watchmakers take them and other movements apart and
reassemble them, I was struck with how similar all of them were. If a Rolex
could do +/- 2 spd, why not the NH 35? These watchmakers also praise the NH
35 and other Seiko movements for their excellent durability. So. What have
I learned?
With a bit of effort, the NH 35 can be regulated (carefully remove the watch's
back, and gently move the balance regulating lever by tiny amounts) to close
to COSC standards. PROVIDED that you've worn the watch for at least a week,
and noted how much it gains or looses. Then, with a timegrapher (1), you can
create a fairly accurate watch.
EXCEPT! The NH 35 had fairly poor isochronous quality. That is, when the
mainspring is fully wound, the watch runs fast. Unwound, slow. It's also
susceptible to gaining time when the watch dial is rotated on it's axis. Grab
the watch by its bracelet, and spin it quickly back and forth for 10 seconds,
and you'll find the watch has gained a second. Go for a 2 hour walk, swinging
your arm, and the watch might gain 10 seconds. Sit at your desk all day,
and the watch looses 2 to 4 seconds.
Is the cheap but durable NH 35 worth it? Of course, it's up to you. Once you
know it's foibles, and learn to work with them, I'd say it was. Bang for the
buck, of course it is!
1) A Chinese timegrapher can be bought from Ali Express for $130+. Or. You
can download a timegrapher app for your cell phone. The former is better,
as the app requires silent surroundings and makes it very awkward to test
the watch in all 6 positions.
I got this model when they first started using the NH25A for these has the same bezel as yours.
Given the pro diver was introduced in the mid 90's and has remained the same, it's cool to see older examples with all the scratches and fading.
That said 3-4 things have held me back from buying an Invicta:
1) over branding on the watch - hey i don't like it when a brand like Blancpain does it either.
I am looking at the 1963 Invicta Diver. Maybe this fall or Christmas season
I have 4 Pro Diver 40mm and I agree with you. It's the best Invicta
Thanks for your service. Hope your channel does well.
Thank you too
I feel the same way I got my pro diver a few years ago as a beater watch.
I bought this watch a few months ago. I love it.
I think the 1953 does not have the engraving on the side anymore.
Wow my favorite cheap audio guy does cheap watches too who knew😄
I have Grand Diver 3044,big brother ,unique great looking manly and strong 47 mm black silver, with diver helmets ,love it to death.Maybe tacky ,maybe not but cannot stop wearing it.
