    This is the First v6 Ferrari since the Dino, That´s why Ferrari´s design it´s related to it (50 years after the Dino (246) was in production, that´s really why Ferrari call it 296, also I think all of us were getting tired of the 458 redesign (the 488, F8, SF90, etc), this is fresh, agresive and muscular. The black A pilar is also a new tendency in Ferrari to give a cockpit impression and more visual weight to the body, on the Dino the A pilar was really slim, so I think it's alright.

  • @wujus2
    @wujus2 3 года назад +6

    Wow, I disagree so much with a lot that has been said here.
    Reason to split those tailights like they did? Simple - to resamble classic ferrari double tailight design and still keep it very modern by having single stripe on top.
    People who shout the loudest are usually those who know the least. Recent Ferrari models after 458 - too much detail, bring back simple. Ferrari 296 comes out - too simple, give us f8 tributo complexity ;D
    I think it looks phenomenal, aspecially rear of this car is such a masterpiece of surface controll. Very purposefull, fresh, interesting and just very very sexy. I like SF90 too, but compared to this it looks quite a bit more robotic and less "beautiful" somehow.

    • @Bazzookie
      @Bazzookie 3 года назад +2

      It's one thing to be simple, its another to design a car that is not only uninspiring to look at, but rather ugly. Plus you can both be complex and elegant in your design, and considering the actual technology the cars had to be built with throughout history, Ferraris have never been simple. Imagine having people in a warehouse literally banging out aluminum sheets back in the 50s and expecting sharp and complex lines. You look at an F40 and tell me, for a car from the late 80s, do you see a simple design? Ferraris have always and should always be complex designs, that's what makes them special, because they have always been able to make complex, yet elegant, looking cars. Simple and functional is for the Germans, in your face is for Lamborghini, and elegantly complex is what Ferrari is supposed to do best, this car misses that and also has glaring design flaws that just don't look good.

    The rear lights are obviously a new direction, may be unfamiliar, but they work perfectly.
    The rear wheel hump is perfect, it's probably the best part of the car, it was used on classic models.
    The front lights are just beautiful, there's no reason to recreate what has already been done on other models.

    The unachievable expectaions people put on a brand is sad. This car is gorgeous! I think it's refreshing to see the small, simplified light signatures. It moves the Ferrari design language forward, and I commend them for that. Since the end of the Pinin design era, I admit Ferrari have had some struggles. But some people would have you believe this multi-billion dollar brand has 'fallen off' which is so far from the truth. • @proper_miles
    @proper_miles 8 месяцев назад +1

    I think the only thing wrong with the 296 design is the lights. I’d leave the a-pillar black. Most of the minor changes to other body lines are so minor they’d be too debatable and I think you could feel one way about it one day, and another way the next. BUT ROUND TAIL LIGHTS PLEASE. This to me is such an iconic piece of modern Ferrari design. When Ferrari parted ways with Pininfarina, they also parted ways with the round tail lights. And it feels like they did it for no reason other than new manufacturing technology makes so many unique shapes possible… so it feels like they’re screwing with them just because they want something “new” and “more challenging than circles.” The new headlights are too minimal… I like the proposed design here, it’s more reminiscent of what they’ve been doing for the last 20 years. But please - round tail lights. I don’t even think you need 4, I think 2 like the 458 would be great. My favorite feature on my 430 are the tail lights and how they’re literally the same part number as the Enzo. I remember seeing the 430 on the road when I was 16 and I thought the way the round tail lights protruded from the body work was the coolest thing… told myself I’d get one someday… well, here we are. All for those cigarette tailllights.

    No joke, those things you did to the back especially made me really wanting them to make it like that instead, it fitted the car so well!!! The 458/488 green house I also agree with that, but man, if you had just made the headlights just a bit shorter in length it would in my own opinion, ferraris best design since the 458, when we at least talk about their mid engine layout. I am still a very big fan of the sf90 but that redesign you just did with only a few other tweaks in my opinion would have made it so much better. But besides that extremely well done, sad Ferrari didn’t make the 296 like this instead, I think a lot of people would have been much happier with this design

      I was thinking of shortening the LEDs and not have them stretch up too far on the fenders, but that would have made it too predictable. The implementation of round lights on the back of the car was a thing I wanted to see ever since I first saw the 296, great edit, thank you! :D (I also would have liked to see the little "teeth" on the top and bottom of the exhaust removed, I don't really know why they're there but they look off to me, it seems like they wanted to split the exhaust in two but they weren't really convinced so they just half assed it, lol)

    You guys should see frank stephenson’s thoughts on this car. A real, renowed designer, talking about it. His redesign is so much better and has much more respect over the ferrari brand(since he worked there) and over the 296 designer as well.

    Honestly I actually like the 296 GTB I think it'll make a great entry level supercar for Ferrari and I like how they have the 70s and 80s design cues from Italian sports cars and this is like a modern successor to the Dino which is one thing I love about this car

    I REALLY like your headlight design, but I feel that if they just filled in the dumb little scoop with a complete headlight and then made the LED strip full width (maybe with a down-spike on the inside corner too, for accent) it would be fine and "not too big" for the car.
    Your rear end changes were perfect. I can honestly go either way with the A-pillar. I like floating roofs. Could make it cooler by doing an all glass tesla style thing, instead.

    Seeing a lot of comments about this being a fairly acceptable hommage to the Dino, except it was intended to be inspired by the 250LM, officially. Also confirmed by Frank Stephenson, former director of concept design at Ferrari/Maserati, who made several revisions to bring it more in line with Ferrari's design language.

    Basically, lighting from Ferrari's design language 10 years ago. If the argument is always going to be, "This is what _____ is supposed to look like," design becomes static.

    The rear fender looks like the 80‘s, the rest of the car like 2025. You can’t mix that hard different times and Design Elements in my opinion. They should have integrated the rear fender more into our time today.
    It‘s great to install older classic and elegant design elements in new cars, but this is not the best example for it.
    Your redesign is really good. Don‘t sure about using the „old“ rear lights again, but the headlights are great!

    I really like what you did with the A pillar. I think the front end needs more, it looks like it doesn't belong on that car. I would like to see something more like the rear bulges. But not as something that stand above the side line but with something coming from the bonnet and the front in general.

    Very interesting experiment! One thing I noticed is that nowadays car manufacturers replace traditional lightcathers with black skirt elements (on the side) for hiding the visual weight of the cars. It's a trend going across every segments, probably came from unproportional crossover SUVs trying to hide the enormous amaunt of bodymass.

    Like the lights changes both front and back but I would 100000% leave the A pillar black for a panoramic 180° 1 piece look, might even go all in and get the roof black for a LaFerrari look

    The changes are subtle but have a big impact. I think you fixed exactly the right things - the more traditional, circular taillights look so much better. I also agree with the body colored a-pillar, it just looks a lot more elegant and Ferrari-esque. And the headlights look indeed a lot more interesting with a little hint to the 458. I'm also not completely sure about the singular central exhaust. Maybe four round / oval exhaust tips would suit the car better. Anyways, great video, as always!
