Wouldn't that brush scratch the car?

    • @DadhowdoI
      @DadhowdoI  Год назад +127

I have seen comments saying not to use it.
I have always used it and haven’t had a problem, but maybe some car washes are not as well maintained as ours. 🤷🏼‍♂️ It would be a good idea to check the brush first, to make sure the last person didn’t leave behind a bunch of grease or dirt on it. You can always bring your own car wash mitt if you don’t want to trust the brush. 👍🏻

It puts micro scratches / swirls into the clear coat. Do it enough times and you see spider web looking lines in the paint when the sun is on it. Best way is to clean with two bucket wash with microfiber wash mitt. It’s important to protect your paint from rusting. Resale value goes down and potential repairs needed too especially if you live in the rust belt

I've never had one scratch my car, but I always lay it on the ground and use the wand to rinse it out first. You could end up with small rocks in that brush that will definitely scratch your car

I'm sorry for your past, but tbh, I'm very grateful to you. Just learned about your channel.
My father didn't leave. He kidnapped me for seven years, and when I was finally rescued, I was dropped into a foster family and raised their child. I'm an adult now, but the amount of times I've struggled with simple things like paying a bill, how to make appointment, or even basic care, or just wanted to be able to call my momma or something is astronomical.
Thanks for being a pseudo parent for those of us that don't have one. You touch a lot of people.

I always use the foam brush from the top down. The soap run-off helps shift loose grit, debris, etc. Plus I'm not dragging any stubborn grit from the lower (nearer the roads surface) panels up over my car even more than needed.
Or even better, don't use the brush. 👍🏻

Great video! Only tip I may add is do the top panels first then lower and wheels as they’re the dirtiest and can risk scratches with contaminants on the brush. Also wise to use the pressure washer and spray the brush first before turning to foam brush because most people have the same idea

This channel is very useful for me, although this car wash was a little "old school" as I've been using a foam spray attachment for my pressure washer for years, but for those who don't have one this is the best way to do it without wearing yourself out. I always use some kind of spray that removes small metal particles from the paint, and a spray that resolve oil and such from the road, and then I put on the foam and leave it for 5-10 minutes and when it's almost cracked up fully I will take a waffle sponge or a wash mit and drag the soap around without using any water yet, then I use my pressure washer bottom to top, panel by panel, then I use a regular bucket wash with my mitten, and rinse that off, and finally I put on a spray sealer, I actually recently bought a foam sealer too, so now I just put it on with my pressure washer and then when it's cracked up I rinse it off for 5-10 minutes and then I use a drying towel made out of microfiber, but that actually looks like fur. If I have to polish my car I will do that, but I will use clay to rinse out any dirt from the paint before waxing and polishing. I learned this from a Norwegian that has this shop that sells everything you need in the garage for your car, and he also make videos on how to use all the products, which have been very helpful for me that used to wash my car with an old dirty sponge and some old turtle wax soap and I used to wax my car with an old sock and turtle wax, and it was so much work and my car never looked clean. I had another car that I just washed in an automatic washer, but when I got a new white car in 2020 I searched RUclips for tips to clean and wax my car. I had been watching some Swedish guy and a Norwegian guy before, but then this new company showed up and I bought a starter pack with a polisher machine and the pressure washer and the foam gun and a variety of soaps and sealers to use for my car and it was such a game changer from how I used to struggle. I have a lot of health issues, so it was the reason I tried to find an easier way to wash my car, but without going in a car wash machine, I hate those things and I actually enjoy washing and polishing my car. It's not that many girls that do this, but it should be, why should it just be the guys that have all the fun tools. I really recommend this to women that needs to wash their car without a car wash machine. It's an investment to buy the pressure washer, and you don't want the cheapest one, it's the pressure that is the point, how much water that flows through the machine onto your car. The pressure washer can be used for cleaning almost everything outside your home if it can be washed with water. My mother actually was so impressed with this foam washing method that she got her own pressure washer and foam gun, and she has bought foam guns for my brother and uncle too, and they also like it. I think that company went well because of my mother back in 2020 😅. I still watch the guy that makes videos and his co workers that also make videos, it's so useful, but your channel is great for a lot of other things, like the first one I watched and re watched 10 times about how to hang a shelf on the wall. I didn't have a father when growing up, so it's always been me and my brother that had to do things to help my mother after my Grandfather passed away. I lived with a man for a few years, but now I don't have one, and I need to learn things that I didn't learn or don't remember how to do, or if I want to learn a better way to do things. I loved that your channel is called Dad, how do I? because it's just like having a father that teaches me stuff I need to know. I get that the channel is mostly made for the boys, but girls can do everything, except shaving their faces. Thank you for making videos like this. I still need to learn a lot. 😊

My biggest tip for cleaning wheels is to buy a wheel cleaner, preferably a ph neutral one. It makes cleaning wheels at home super easy because the product is extremely potent. Spray it on the wheels and let it soak a little, it will turn a certain colour, because it is reacting with the carbon particles that come off the brakes. You can then either wash it off or agitate it a little and rinse it off.

Dad, i love that you are showing us how to wash a car but i think it might be a better idea to find a manual car wash that also has a foam gun instead of a foam brush! Bring your own microfiber wash mitts and use that instead. The brush is too coarse and will damage your paint. In the beginning it wont be easy to see but under the sunlight you will be seeing the swirls and the 'lovemarks'.

I lost my dad at 11 in 1984. now I'm almost 50 and I work a slave wage job in a restaurant. I'd probably be doing better in life if he hadn't died from a brain tumor. I'm gonna try making a YT channel wish me luck. Maybe I can catch a break. anyway glad I found this channel. Sorry about Squiggy.

Heard about your channel. You, sir, are a hero. You should do a collar with Noel Deyzel

This helps so much. Otherwise it feels like a “Mission Impossible” episode.

not sure how much of a hassle it'd be to make, but can we get a lawn mowing vid? i had to mow for my dad today while he was at work, & all doing my best (i couldn't even make turns with it, i'm sure my neighbors got a good show of me fighting with a push mower) at it got me was complaints that i "left too many mohawk spots"🙃

I NEVER use the brush. If I do, I spray it clean first and only scrub wheels and underside of car. Don’t wanna take a chance scrubbing any contaminants into my paint.

Hey consider consulting a detailing person for making this video and reviewing basic instructions, so you can keep it easy and don’t mess up the car
