You would need to be making full rotations in 12 seconds to get 5 per minute. I'm on PS4, so my load time sucks. It takes about to same amount of time to run back to the grace as it does to fast travel, so a rotation takes about 32 seconds. I got 217k from 1 hour which is very good, but it's not 500-600k.
So just a heads up that I've noticed. If you don't physically see the Boulder go down sometimes it won't give you the runes *something else I notice. Don't open the map when it falls. Wait until you see the runes pop up then open the map.
This is correct. I figured it out myself. You do kinda have to follow the boulder down with your camera. At least until it reaches the edge of the cliff to make sure you get your runes. Other wise youll be losing time
A quick tip I suggest, Instead of teleporting, walk towards the site of grace, rest, and then leave. This will still reset the ball and doesn’t take as much time
Yeah that’s what I noticed too just started on PS4 and it takes far longer to load back to the grace point than just running on Torren back. Broke PS4 gang bruh lol 😂😭
This is a good spot for sure. My only feedback is that you're looking at more realistically about 25 seconds per loop. So I would expect a decent hour of grinding will net you 250k and top out around 300k if you're very efficient/consistent. Still a great amount of xp without having to do much of anything, but 585000/hr I don't think is possible. I timed your run in the video and it's around 24 seconds, so I don't know how you're doing it in half the time (12 sec), which is what would be required to hit 585k. Not a diss, just feels a little baity.
Just a tip for those who don't know, make sure that after you turn around, you watch the ball drop to get your runes, if you dont and start going back to the grace then you won't receive your runes
I don't think the Knight part works anymore though, I tried this over and over but he doesn't take poison damage, at least not enough to kill him. The ball farming part still works though
Okay took me a minute to actually figure out how to get it to work, it basically has to roll off to the right immediately. So stop and quick right turn. Thought it was patched but once you get the hang of it, it works well
For those who don’t like the strat of teleporting back to the site of grace and resetting each time and want some action , the mobs there dressed in black drop around 1050 runes per kill. @@ScarlettesFuneral Actually I can find 12 and I can farm all 12 in less than 3 min with my archaeologist, if I stack pots and killing them while sitting on my horse 😂

You can do this without breaking sprint, so it's just bonus crafting materials while you cheese yourself to victory!
Thx for this. I'd add if you do that and loop back after the ball drops you can hug the opposite side for even more before you travel back to repeat. Doing this for one hour i have over 300 firefly & faded erdleaves

@@dunkirito8308 I don't know yet they just started doing maintenance around 10:30 pm today and someone told me that it might be for online play. But someone else said that they were going to fix the farm glitch because it brake the game play
So an update for me: After the latest patch this farm still works. I use a fowl foot and sprint towards the site of grace in order to reset the ball, and repeating that. I'll get around 3075 runes pr run. However, for the night boss on the bridge, that's been patched. He won't suffer that much damage by the poison traps and he will also teleport back to the bridge when you are close to the top of the hill with traps - no matter how close he is to you.
yeah but you can trigger him and go up a little past him and jump off the right side of the bridge to the rocks and then he will just fall off sometimes he gets you but just keep doing it until he falls off took me a couple tries lol
For the Nights Cavalry it’s significantly easier to try and bait it off the bridge by running on the ledge kinda the same way you do with the Boulder, the poison method can be glitchy depending on how you do it. Also there is a dragon a little past Lenne’s Rise that you can kill at night with bleed in a specific spot that gives you like 100k.
I tried today for the poison twice and the first time the Poison killed me, and the second run He followed me than he teleports back to the bridge and still has only a quarter of damage done to him.
Ok here's how to get it every time: you're gonna be able to ascertain exactly when the ball spawns after a few runs, you can see it spawn just behind you even if youre just running past it. I run to the edge of the cliff, turn around to watch it spawn, and just walk torrent directly to the side of it, to my left if youre facing the ball. Continue to spin the camera back to where the ball is now falling off the cliff (for some reason it despawns if your camera isnt looking in its direction sometimes) as soon as you see the runes pop up, warp or run back, and make sure youre doing this at night, because sometimes it will just randomly give you x10 the amount of runes.
@@ghostguy9 You know how randomly mobs will have the glowing yellow eyes? this means they give bonus multiplied runes. That can also happen to this ball apparently, although you can't see the effect cause it doesnt have eyes lol
No lie chief I don’t see anyone getting half a million in an hour. Another thing to note is once you hit level 70 something it’ll cost 30K per level and the mental drain of doing this over and over will start to take effect.
You can run up into the poison mines and then head right as you turn around back to the bridge. It may take a couple of tries, but you can trick the boss into tumbling off the cliff and dying to still get your runes.
there's also a fun farming spot at the Site of Grace before the Impassable Greatbridge. If you do it right you can watch the HellHounds fight the small calvary there and gain ruins watching the fight.
I like to run through there on torrent to help speed things up. It's just over 4k runes per reset. I pick up the Knight on a horse, and 2 dogs just outside the arena of death. It's a little more engaging than watching a ball roll off a cliff.
Started watching your channel during AC with my kids and have gotten some great tips from you on this game! I am a first time souls player, so my death count is high...keep up the awesome vids man, I appreciate them all!
Don't worry. As a veteran souls player my death count is also high lol. Gotta keep trying dumb stuff and jumping to places I probably shouldn't be at. Don't go hollow and you'll do just fine!
I farm the adds near the grace after taking the portal behind the third church. I use the meteorite staff with Swift Glintstone Pebble, I stay mounted takes me 7 cast to kill 1 and I kill 7 of them before using a potion. I go to the right of the bridge kill those 4 then up the hill kill those two, then to the left and kill those 4 then across the road and kill those 8 then I jump down and rest at the grace and repeat. Takes me 8 min give or take and it's 18k a run plus the loot they drop
important note, maybe due to patch: the boulder MUST go off the ledge - i have dodged it in ways where it simply missed me and disappeared, or missed me and crashed into a wall, and both of those outcomes yield you zero runes - make sure to go in almost the exact same spots he does in the video to ensure the boulder goes off the edge
If you put the Opaline Bubbletear on your Wondrous Physick flask and take it before each run, you don't have to worry about dodging or turning back around to see the ball fall. Just ride past where it spawns and stop facing the cliff its going to roll off. The shield your flask provides will absorb the damage and the ball will continue rolling past you off the cliff already in your view. Easy as can be.
For the horse knight, i can get the poison to proc on him, but after getting to the top of the hill he just goes back to the bridge and the poison ticks till it wears off. Any idea what's up?
For those experiencing problems in getting the runes....As pointed out the ball need to go over the cliff PLUS you have to turn around and stand at the edge of the cliff, then you will be rewarded with the runes every time. Pro tip: Make sure to not fall off the cliff ;) LOL And enjoy!
Also if you have a gold-pickled fowl foot for acquisition boost it'll farm for 2537 The only downside is you CAN'T fast travel or you'll lose the boost so just ride back rest rinse repeat should work for about 3 to 5 minute's
It's probably too late, but whoever is playing this in 2024, the poison does not work anymore against the knight. What you can do now is make him fall off the bridge.
Thanks for your help man! I tried the posin stuff for the boss but it didn't work for me but it helped me find another way. If you walk up the branch at the end of the bridge to the left he will follow you up the branch. All you have to do is jump off when he tries to walk up the branch and he falls off!!! Hope this helps anyone having a problem with this part of the walk through.
want insta 72K rune? Head southwest from this checkpoint find a fort, you will find a sleeping dragon. you can free hit him for about 5mins before you kill it, Instant 72K runes. Fun tip: use weapon with blood loss effect
Just as a warning - if you kill it then some other potential farms despawn forever. There is a sleeping dragon that you can hit in the head a couple of times to kill if you are strong enough, and get 3200+ per kill in under 20 seconds per run. The catch is you need to be able to deal that much damage (to its head while it's sleeping) to make the farm viable. So i would actually advise against grabbing the 72K runes, as the alternative farm is better late game.
Also for that last boss, if you agro him and run back towards the end of the bridge close to the site of grace, theres a ledge on the right side that you get off your horse and can run on, boss will follow and then try and chop you which will lead to him falling off.
Another quick tip if u get the gold scarab talisman it increases the number of runes u get by 20% as long as u have it equipped, so instead of 1952 runes u get 2342 runes, it’s not that much of an increase but I thought it would be helpful to some
Still works as of my comment. You have to do it the way that he does it, or it doesnt give you runes. Copy him exactly. Same move off to same side at same place etc
The soul gain is really weird in this, I mean the Crusible Knight, a boss just gives you 2k souls and those giants outside which are easy to kill with bleed nets you 1k souls. That doesn't make any sense.
I just trigger the boulder, then run to the right toward the cliff and do a 180 to dodge it. then, turn as it is falling (you want to have aimed at it while it hits the invisible wall), then you can spam open map and go back to the lost grace. Extremely consistent method, and I am able to get each run in about 25 seconds (timed from clicking Yes on the map)ae
After avoiding the initial glowing ball for nearly 2K runes, keep going down the path. Another ball appears where the tree branch crosses the path. It will also grant nearly 2K runes if you dodge it correctly.
@@benjaminbenjamin4595 If it only adds 13 seconds to do the second one then it is superior to do both, because it doubles the amount of runes you get but doesn't double the amount of time each cycle will take. It's the equivalent of every other cycle only taking 13 seconds.
I didn't find a third one, but i timed doing the first and back, and then both and back. Just the first ball with fast travel time took 22 seconds. Adding the second ball in took an extra 12 seconds for a total of 34 seconds. It is indeed better to do both.
This method is so cheesy... and I love it! I have noticed that the bolder has to fall off the cliff properly for it to give Runes. Some times it can stop on top of the cliff in which case you don't get everything. I have yet to be as efficient as 585,600 runes per hour though, I am sitting at about 300k though, which isn't bad.
@@zipdeegames9394 That's because you need to actually "guide" the ball to fall off next to the tree on the right side of the edge. Meaning when the ball spawns, you need to wait just half a sec or so before you peer to the right. If the ball falls off near the tree, you'll get 1952 runes. In fact I got lucky once I got 10950 runes when the ball falls off just on the left side of the tree. If the ball falls off anywhere else, high chance it won't kill whatever monster there is in the seabed below.
It's not patched on PS5/PS4. All you need to do is: 1. The first time you do it, mounted, make sure to notice at what point on the map you saw the trap spawn. After it falls off the cliff, place a marker/message on your map. This will provide you with a clear point of reference on when to start turning around, while making the farm faster and safer. 2. The ball can somewhat follow you, so your objective is to turn around and away from it as fast as you're able to while mounted. 3. Lastly, and most importantly, to get credit you must turn back around to watch it go off the cliff. Do this by either jumping off the mount towards the ball (obviously not off the cliff) or ride back towards it. The reason is, you won't get credit if you're not close enough to see it go off the edge. The first two times I thought they had patched it but I tested this theory and it's been working. You'll be getting around 2000ish runes. 4. Port back and repeat.
@@VinnieDiRubba it only works if the ball goes off the cliff (while you keep your camera facing towards it). It won't work if the ball rolls down the path or hits a wall and despawns.

Your average rune collection will be around 350,000 per hour with this exploit. Which is still great for early leveling. If your truly patient you can hit 1mill in roughly 3-4 hours.
@@Mo-eh1bq I average 195k every hour but I can do it in about 40 seconds per run. I don’t think 350k is possible in just an hour unless you have great RNG and get the 9k drops, which one hour round I got 6.
Great vid man thanks for sharing. Outlined well, clear, concise, no jump cuts. Walking the player through the whole way. *Not patched* (idk if they will just an FYI :))
Couple excellent tips to do this right: stick to the left edge of the path just as you get to where the ball rolls, and then move right while staying close to the edge of the cliff. DO NOT use your horsey sprint when you see the ball, or it might crash into the wall instead of off the edge, and then you get NOTHING! GOOD DAY SIR! Also, as SOON as the chime comes (meaning you got runes), that’s when you load the map and jump back to the Lenne’s Rise grace. That will maximize your farming speed. Important: DON’T ENTER THE TOWER at the grace area! If you do, you might just kill the ugly beast that spawns the balls by accident, and then, no more cheat for free runes. And last, but not least: once you’re level 50+, use this free XP hack whenever you’re close to getting your next level, so you can quickly finish leveling and then get back to fighting bosses (with very low runes to lose). But, don’t just farm balls incessantly until your game is broken. If you MUST use this, use it as a crutch, and not a game-breaker. Besides, it’s way more fun to fight monster bosses (even unsuccessfully) than to spend hours dodging balls. But if you DO find yourself farming this thing for an hour (maybe to quickly level a brand new character), try singing the theme to Indiana Jones every time you dodge the ball. It will lighten the monotony of doing it a trillion times - trust me on this one! lol
Interesting that they would grant souls when the ball is "defeated", I wonder how FromSoft intended the player to defeat it, or if it's just an artifact from development.
Yeah, I also find this rather weird. Isn't technically an exploit since it's now part of the game without breaking it. I can only think that they decided to make the trap an npc enemy for programming but that wouldn't explain why they'd give it Rune drops unless it was programmed with another enemy as a base.
Another place that's good for farming is Windmill village without much danger of losing your runes. From the site of grace there you can kill all the witches going up the first lot of steps and then back to the site of grace again. I used the Bloodhound's Fang two handed and it was clearing out 3 to 4 witches at once. You'll get 200,000 - 250,000 runes an hour plus all the gold runes they drop.
For an additional bonus, do the farming at night because occasionally you will get a bolder to spawn that drops 9000+ souls. It’s a “glowing eye” enemy (even though boulders don’t have eyes lol)

This is correct. I figured it out myself. You do kinda have to follow the boulder down with your camera. At least until it reaches the edge of the cliff to make sure you get your runes. Other wise youll be losing time

I run to the edge of the cliff, turn around to watch it spawn, and just walk torrent directly to the side of it, to my left if youre facing the ball. Continue to spin the camera back to where the ball is now falling off the cliff (for some reason it despawns if your camera isnt looking in its direction sometimes) as soon as you see the runes pop up, warp or run back, and make sure youre doing this at night, because sometimes it will just randomly give you x10 the amount of runes.

want insta 72K rune?
Yea the horseman didnt work at least for me. It would go back guarding the bridge. It would take damage but very slow
Also for that last boss, if you agro him and run back towards the end of the bridge close to the site of grace, theres a ledge on the right side that you get off your horse and can run on, boss will follow and then try and chop you which will lead to him falling off.

The soul gain is really weird in this, I mean the Crusible Knight, a boss just gives you 2k souls and those giants outside which are easy to kill with bleed nets you 1k souls. That doesn't make any sense.
It's because the crucible knight isn't actually a boss, he's just a tough enemy that they give a boss health bar in some encounters.
It’s sometimes inconsistent and does not give the runes.
It’s 50/50
must look at the ball falling off the edge will work 100%
You need to look at the ball because it's the one that gave you runes
I just trigger the boulder, then run to the right toward the cliff and do a 180 to dodge it. then, turn as it is falling (you want to have aimed at it while it hits the invisible wall), then you can spam open map and go back to the lost grace. Extremely consistent method, and I am able to get each run in about 25 seconds (timed from clicking Yes on the map)ae

hmm It's still working for me I still get 1900
You have to do It Exactly like him
After avoiding the initial glowing ball for nearly 2K runes, keep going down the path. Another ball appears where the tree branch crosses the path. It will also grant nearly 2K runes if you dodge it correctly.
I timed this, it's better to only do the first boulder as doing both adds an extra 13 seconds
@@benjaminbenjamin4595 If it only adds 13 seconds to do the second one then it is superior to do both, because it doubles the amount of runes you get but doesn't double the amount of time each cycle will take. It's the equivalent of every other cycle only taking 13 seconds.
I think there is a third one, further down, how does that work for efficiency doing all three?
@@Satsujinki1973 I'll have time to test in a couple hours and ill comment the results

IF YOU PLACE A BEACON THE BALL WONT RESPAWN REMOVE ANY BEACON TO RESPAWN THE BALL
It's not patched on PS5/PS4. All you need to do is:
Works beautifully. First few times didn't work because the ball hit the wall, but once I got timing down it's easy 1.9k every 30 seconds. Insane.
Won't work?
@@VinnieDiRubba it only works if the ball goes off the cliff (while you keep your camera facing towards it). It won't work if the ball rolls down the path or hits a wall and despawns.

Is it patched
@@Ben-cd8wk nop theres another farming method I’ve found though that’s like 10x the output of runes.
It will lighten the monotony of doing it a trillion times - trust me on this one! lol
Haha love this comment xD

Interesting that they would grant souls when the ball is "defeated", I wonder how FromSoft intended the player to defeat it, or if it's just an artifact from development.
Yeah, I also find this rather weird. Isn't technically an exploit since it's now part of the game without breaking it. I can only think that they decided to make the trap an npc enemy for programming but that wouldn't explain why they'd give it Rune drops unless it was programmed with another enemy as a base.
